way, there's so much positive energy coming from tina. and i think she had a way of transforming songs so that she owned them, they were hers. and she was worshipped by people. none more so than beyonce, here performing in her honour in 2005. i'll never forget the first time i saw you perform. i'd never in my life saw a woman so powerful. i so fearless. so fabulous. # you're simply the best # better than all the rest... # she said today she was an inspiration. in her life, her resilience and her music, tina turner was her beloved queen. david sillito, bbc news.

the late, great tina turner. time for a look at the weather. here's darren bett. as you know, i can't stand the rain, and there hasn't been much of that this week and there won't be much as we head into the bank holiday weekend. today most of us are seeing some sunshine once again. there are some sunshine once again. there are some areas of cloud that are floating around, developing and trapped under this high pressure and thatis trapped under this high pressure and that is keeping it fine and dry. the wind has changed direction a bit today, meaning some northern and eastern areas might be cooler. this is the cloud we have seen developing in places over the last three hours, turning more cloudy. in northern ireland. clown developing across east anglia and the south—east and parts of the midlands could see some more cloud. it could squeeze out showers the pennines. showers of the shetland area as well. higher temperatures are squeezed more to
1:32 pm
the south—west, a very pleasant 22 or 23. a lot of the cloud will tend to melt away overnight with skies clearing and wind light. it could point to a chilly night ahead and these are temperatures first thing in the morning, close to freezing perhaps across some eastern parts of scotland. tomorrow, clouding to the north—east of scotland producing spots of drizzle. elsewhere after a sunny start see cloud building up, spreading out a bit. likely to stay on the sunny side in the far south of england and through the english channel but it would be quite windy here, a chilly wind that will take the edge off temperatures. otherwise temperatures might be a shade higher than today, looking at 20 in the central belt of scotland, 20 in north—west england and the midlands. heading into the bank holiday weekend with high pressure generally in charge, weakening a bit from the north with the weather front moving in and a stronger wind coming into scotland. we will see more cloud coming to scotland and northern
1:33 pm
ireland and a bit of rain towards the north—west with some cloud building up in northern england and north wales, sunnier in the south and the wind is lighter. temperatures reaching 22, possibly 23, but it will be cooler in scotland and northern ireland on that weather front with cool air behind it. as high pressure builds backing across the uk the cooler air will push its way further south. it's the radio one big weekend this weekend and on sunday it will be quite a bit cooler but dry. northern parts of the uk scene temperatures recover on monday in the sunshine. the same can't be said further south in the uk because it will turn cooler from sunday into monday. again, more sunshine on bank holiday monday on once again will be dry. thanks, darren. and that's bbc news at one. you can keep up with all the latest developments on the bbc website. the news continues here on bbc one as now it's time to join our colleagues

across the nations and regions for the news where you are. goodbye. hello, live from the bbc sport centre. it's not slot. the dutchman rules out a move to tottenham to stay at feyenoord. the former wsl player of the year izzy christiansen is going to retire from football after the final day of the season. matty lee considered retirement, but the olympic champion tells us why he's targeting paris next year. hello and thanks forjoining us, here's your latest sports news. arne slot has ruled out a move to tottenham hotspur. the dutchman led feyenoord to their first eredivise title in 6 years and it had been reported that spurs had identified him as their number one choice as a fulltime managerial replacement
1:35 pm
for antonio conte who was sacked in march. ben croucher is here, does this leave tottenham in the lurch? let's give you the timeline here. tottenham's form has nose dived this year. conte was sacked in march. the interim cristian stellini lasted just four games. qualifying for europe is now out of their hands. thomas tuchel and julien naglesmann were linked. tuchel went to bayern munich. the club ruled out a move for naglesmann — so slot was believed to be their preferred choice. it's understood he and his agent rafaela pimenta, met with the feyenoord's board yesterday and he's subsequently distanced himself from a move to north london. in a statement he's said...

now slot — at 44 — has impressed this season taking feyenoord to the dutch title. they're ten points clear with a game to play. impressed with the attacking flair and his man management too — his people skills said to be his biggest strength. he'd previously been linked with the leeds job too. but for spurs — it's likely to lead to frustration because they're in a period of uncertainty and question marks over the future of star striker harry kane and leadership. they've not got a director of football at the moment either, that could be pivotal in any management talks, chairman daniel levy is under huge pressure from large swathes of the fanbase too. tottenham are a club craving stability — the news that slot is staying in the netherlands is unlikely
1:37 pm
to give them that any time soon. roberto de zerbi could now be on tottenham's radar after the italian helped brighton secure european football for the first time in their history. a point against the champions manchester city at the amex stadium guaranteed that they will be playing in the europa league next season. phil foden put city ahead in the first half but brighton's paraguayan teenager julio enciso scored a stunning equaliser. the point means that brighton take sixth spot, their highest finish in the top division. and they'll become the first english side since hull city, almost a decade ago, to make their debut in european competition. i don't know the future. i think they deserve to play at another level but we have to be ready to bring another big players because we will play for competition in the europa league. it will be more tough
1:38 pm
and we need to be ready. the final day of the premier league season is on sunday, there's one match before then, manchester united need just a point at home to chelsea later to make sure that they stay in the top four and qualify for the champions league next season. we are in a project, we want to go back and to win trophies. we win one trophy, we want to win more trophies. we want to compete with the best but we are still on a journey and we are still on a journey and we are still on a journey but we are on the right direction. we can always be better because good is not good enough. as for chelsea, well they are heading for their worst premier league finish in over 25 years. they will definitely finish in the bottom half, they are 12th at the moment in a season in which they have sacked 2 managers, and interim boss
1:39 pm
frank lampard has been unable to stop their slide down the table the premier league moves on very fast and everyone is trying to do the same thing, we see the emergence of newcastle, aston villa, the people getting themselves in the equation. with my experience is if you switch it off, it is not easy to switch it on so that it doesn't always become an overnight remedy so it's not going to be my response ability but from my experience of being in a consistent performing club, the moment you switch off it becomes hard to switch back on so that will be the test next year. the women's super league season finishes on saturday and that will also mark the end of izzy christiansens football career. the everton midfielder says she's retriing from the game after facing her former club manchester city, where she won the double in 2016. christiansen won 31 caps for england, scoring six goals, and was part of the side that won the shebelieves cup in 2019. she also played for birmingham city

and lyon during her career. another lionesss, jill scott, who retired last year with 161 england caps, says she wants to encourage more young people to play football and to improve their health and wellbeing. the european championship winner has been talking to bbc breakfast. i'm working with the fa on a programme called the great game and it is targeting 12 to 16—year—olds and trying to give them a better mental and physical well—being, trying to get them off their phones, obviously there are so many physical targets they have to reach, they had to exercise 60 seconds counts minutes a day. it's a great programme, we are working with grassroots football. i'm really excited to be part of this programme and trying to improve kids* well—being. and trying to improve kids' well-being-_ and trying to improve kids' well-being. and trying to improve kids' well-beina. . , , ., and trying to improve kids' well-beina. . , , . ., and trying to improve kids'

in how she dealt with her illness. laura's mum nicola and her sister gracie say they're determined that her legacy — of being positive, spreading joy, and raising awareness of brain tumours — will go on. they've been speaking to the bbc*s rogerjohnson. we really appreciate all the support that we've had and all the comments and all the nice messages that we've had. and it's meant so much to know that laura has meant so much to other people. it's the people that say, i'm going to try and be more laura, i've booked a blood donation. and there's been a few that have contacted us. you gave blood on the day she died? yeah, idid. idid. which was a bit weird, but it was on the calendar and she would have not been impressed if i'd have said that was an excuse for not going. when i went, i did want to tell everybody, i wanted to stand on a table and go, "my daughter died this morning." we're going to just try and do what we can to make her proud of us and to carry on doing the things that she thought were important. it's seeing how many people she's touched and how many people she's changed. and yeah. and the girl that messaged from school yesterday to say that when she was being bullied at school
