about how the cordon on upper parliament street was large, covering a large area in front of the royal concert hall. lots of people were curious about the large police presence and he said he heard lara —— loud speakers at the tram stop informing passengers that no services were running due to that major police incident. my colleague at the scene also says that armed officers could also be seen in old market square. but crucially he says no signs of obvious alarm, which might suggest that the most serious aspect of this ongoing investigation has now passed. as you can see, there is still a police cordon, which is usually a very busy part of

emergency services who are responding to this incident in nottingham. sir keir was speaking at a london tech week event. and as we have been saying already, 31—year—old has been arrested on suspicion of murder in relation to the incident. we have been speaking to some of our colleagues who are on the ground from radio nottingham. earlier, we heard from gavin bevis, who was on the scene as things unfolded. he described the cordon has been huge around upper parliament street. you can see what is normally a busy part of nottingham city centre has been cordoned off, with transport services suspended. gavin bevis from radio nottingham are saying many

people were curious about the large police presence and officers were helping people find alternative routes. nottingham police are urging people to find alternative routes because their investigation is still continuing. it's not clear whether this is an ongoing incident. it would suggest, now that they have arrested 31—year—old man, that that incident has now concluded. but of course, the investigation is still active, as evidenced by the pictures we are bringing you on bbc news. having bevis from radio nottingham also said he could hear loud speakers at the tram stop informing passengers that no services were running due to a major police incident. another piece of information from our colleagues, gavin said that armed officers could be seen in old market square. you can maybe see some in the distance and you can see the police tape and

a major bus route into the centre. milton road is where the tram lines are. that is where the van incident took place. that is a street one up from ilkeston road as you are coming into the city centre. the geography is that they are quite close, but they are a fair distance if you are a pedestrian. if you are driving, not far at all but if you are walking into the city centre, it would take you at least ten minutes to walk between these two places. the city of nottingham is a fantastic city. everything feels like it is close together, easily reachable, and all of the transport links are very good within the city centre. that it is why it is such a big disruption and a big shock for people coming in this morning, because these are incredibly busy, well used streets that these incidents have happened on. shire incidents have happened on. are these areas _ incidents have happened on. are these areas where we know some parts

two people dead in the street. this is a busy road heading into the city centre. it has a mix of residential, businesses, takeaway shops, very busy. it was aam in the morning, so less busy at that time. we will look further into the city centre with my next map. this is milton street, where the van incident is said to have taken place. we are not sure how long after the first incident it happened. milton street is a major shopping centre and the city centre is all of this area. it is a busy part of town. we know there is a police cordon here. this is the theatre building, and some of your correspondents have been talking to you from this area. but how far away

we don't know which street she mentions in that clip. but clearly, a very distressing scene than that eyewitness lynn mentioned. we can bring you pictures from the scene in the centre of nottingham, some harrowing testimony. we heard one woman, lynn, an eyewitness, speaking to the bbc saying she saw a man and woman run over by a vehicle. she said they were running for cover and they went on the kerb and she saw them go in the air. she said that if herfriend had got there them go in the air. she said that if her friend had got there any sooner, she feels that her friend might have also been hit by that vehicle. as we were speaking to our colleagues from radio nottingham at the scene earlier, these three separate incidents took place in streets that are not that close to walk to each other, but in the car, they are not

turning the corner. he went straight into these two people. the woman went on the kerb, the man went up in the air and there was such a bang. i wish i never saw it, it's really shaken me up. i went over. perhaps i shouldn't have gone over, but i wanted to see if i could help. that's it, really. but he backed up after he hit the man and the woman, and then drove up upper parliament street. and the police followed him? yes. and this was at 5.30 this morning? yes. if one of my colleagues had been there earlier, she would have been knocked over. i took her to university and then
