georgia, the fulton county grand jury georgia, the fulton county grand jury is meeting this summer. and most important, the federal investigation of the events of january six and the attempt to overturn the election that really went on for about two months, november, december, through went on for about two months, november, december, throuthanuary, november, december, through january, before november, december, throuthanuary, before he lost the election tojoe biden. and if those charges are brought for insurrection and sedition it's going to be an even more serious situation. i have to say that the republican party should look very seriously at their other candidates. if several other candidates. if several other candidates proved to be strong contenders for the nomination and in the general election against president biden, donald trump is not the only option. the republicans need to think seriously when going to the polls, who do they want to represent their party in the general election. i was a republican for 30 years, until donald trump came along. now i'm of political independent. i would like to see
9:03 pm
both parties run candidates who are going to do the best they can to serve the interest of the american people, maybe with different policies. of course, they have different policies. but donald trump has just repeatedly got himself into legal trouble because he doesn't know how to control himself. ijust don't think he is a viable candidate for president of the united states at this point. fik for president of the united states at this point-— for president of the united states at this oint. . ., . ~' at this point. 0k richard, thank you for that- we — at this point. 0k richard, thank you for that. we will _ at this point. 0k richard, thank you for that. we will be _ at this point. 0k richard, thank you for that. we will be back _ at this point. 0k richard, thank you for that. we will be back with a - for that. we will be back with a little later. we are going to stay on these live pictures. this is the motorcade of former president donald trump, leaving the courthouse in miami. he is on its way to miami airport where he is going to get on his plane and head back to new jersey, where he has one his residences, and when he is in new jersey, a little later, he will then be speaking to his supporters. two things i want to bring you up on speed, if you've been watching for the last few minutes. it looks like we have potentially some kind of
9:04 pm
explanation for that little altercation we saw with police and the protester. potentially, there were no barriers on the sidewalk, and one protester lunged into the street towards the motorcade, but was quickly dragged away by police. so that's a potential explanation for those pictures we were watching just five minutes ago. and the other thing to bring you up to speed with is a couple of details from what happened inside the courtroom. the court hearing is over and there is donald trump off away. but the judge told him not to speak to his co—defendant, which is about the case, not to discuss the facts of the case between themselves. clearly, he is in aid of donald trump so they will have to speak, but they are not to speak about the details of the case to each other. right. let's head to a reporter,
9:05 pm
helen hunt, who is life for us. helena, great to see you. just talk us through what has been happening and bring us up—to—date. itrfufeili us through what has been happening and bring us up-to-date. well louis, for such a significant _ and bring us up-to-date. well louis, for such a significant moment - and bring us up-to-date. well louis, for such a significant moment in - and bring us up-to-date. well louis, for such a significant moment in us l for such a significant moment in us history, in the past couple of hours, relatively short. but as you've been saying, the former us president, donald trump, becoming the first former president to be indicted and arraigned today on federal criminal charges in the courthouse. the miami federal courthouse, just behind me. as you are just courthouse, just behind me. as you arejust mentioning he has now travelled away in his motorcade. with that tussle, some kind of chaos between donald trump supporters and some of his detractors, but he continues to move on towards miami airport. it will be wheels up soon to head back to there. but in terms of what apple actually happened inside this courthouse behind me, donald trump was processed the same
9:06 pm
way that any federal criminal defendant would be in terms of having fingerprints taken, he didn't have a mug shot taken. he is of course one of the most famous people in the world. he hasn't necessarily considered a flight risk for that reason. but he ended by the back door here. we saw him coming in. he was then booked, and processed, and he had those 37 serious charges brought out to him, under charges of the espionage act, allegations of conspiracy and making false statements, all of which he has denied, of course, and he did plead not guilty. we also saw his co—defendant on those conspiracy charges, his aide, walt nauta, also plead not guilty to six felony charges. and there were some back and forth between the attorney and the judge in terms of setting out the judge in terms of setting out the conditions as we go forward, most notably that donald trump wouldn't be allowed to speak to walt nauta, specifically with regards to the case, although they would be able to continue speaking,
9:07 pm
recognising the fact that they direct delete work together and donald trump will not be able to speak to other witnesses in this case, specifically with regards to the case itself. in terms of how this moves forward, donald trump, as ijust mentioned, going back to bedminster. he doesn't have his passport removed, he doesn't have any restrictions on his movements. it will be closely watched, of course, somebody who is as high—profile as he is. so those are the conditions that we know, for now. we are expecting to learn later, potentially about more pretrial hearings. before we start going through that process of discovery, of course, which is when the prosecution has to hand over evidence to the defence, and that's when we expect we can start to get into the back and forth, when donald trump could potentially try to delay these proceedings, a tactic that was moved used in cases in cases in the past, but for now that is the latest we are learning. a very significant

trouble. when asked, are you worried about trump being mad at you, his former attorney general set i think this is past that. this is dangerous, serious, real, and we as america have to really take a good look at what is happening and make sure that we are on the side of justice because that is what will hold in this country. so it will be a very interesting couple of months to not only see how candidates really handle him but also just republican party leaders who do have a campaign coming up, notjust for president, but their own different campaigns in the senate and in the house. so i suspect over the next several weeks you are beginning to see who is on what side and who is on the other as they head into a primary. d0 on the other as they head into a rima . ,, on the other as they head into a rima . , . ., primary. do you expect other candidates — primary. do you expect other candidates to _ primary. do you expect other candidates to kind _ primary. do you expect other candidates to kind of - primary. do you expect other candidates to kind of site - primary. do you expect other- candidates to kind of site anything other than what they have already been saying when it comes to donald trump? been saying when it comes to donald trum - ? , , been saying when it comes to donald trum? , , , . been saying when it comes to donald trum . ? , , , . ., been saying when it comes to donald trum? , ,, . ., ., been saying when it comes to donald trum? , ,, . . ., ., trump? this is such a moment for american history _ trump? this is such a moment for american history that _ trump? this is such a moment for american history that those - american history that those candidates who try and say i don't
