6:25 pm
is an estimate, it's around 40 hours of oxygen left, and that was from the 96 hour starting point. they also talked about the complexity of this research operation. let'sjust remind ourselves about this huge search. the race to say five people on board this submersible. it went missing in the neural atlantic —— north atlantic. just a reminder of what the search entails, scouring the ocean around 640 km of the coast of newfoundland in canada. dropping sonar boys to detect any underwater activity. the titanic lies nearly 4000 metres beneath the surface. on sunday, all contact with the sub was lost. around an hour and 45 minutes into its dive. there's only enough oxygen for up to 96 hours, and as we

heard, the estimate is that level is now closer to 40 hours. we'll be speaking to a friend of one of those on board shortly, but first, let's speak to our news correspondent in boston. carl, i know you are listening into that conference. that estimate of around 40 hours of oxygen left really adds to the urgency of these search. it really does, urgency of these search. it really does. and _ urgency of these search. it really does. and it _ urgency of these search. it really does, and it was _ urgency of these search. it really does, and it was quite _ urgency of these search. it really does, and it was quite striking i urgency of these search. it really does, and it was quite striking to hear directly from the us coast guard about the level of urgency in terms of the 40 hours of air that may be left. they called it their top priority and they said that they were doing a full press around all the resources they have to try to find this vessel. it was interesting also to mention what they mentioned, they don't have the capabilities on their own to conduct this operation. that's why they brought in so many different agencies. the canadian

coastguard, the us navy, private companies and private vessels all involved in the search. we also heard the update there that they have not seen any signs, they have not found anything so far in this search that's gone on since sunday. not the news many of us were waiting to hear. they did say they haven't it's interesting to note they were asked they were —— about these drones, and when they were asked about whether they might have some sort of salvage capabilities or rescue capabilities, they did not answer that question. it seems right now, the laser focus answer that question. it seems right now, the laserfocus is answer that question. it seems right now, the laser focus is on locating this vessel, but there are still some open questions about if it is located, how they might be able to then rescue the people inside or bring that vessel back to the surface if it is indeed still at the bottom of the ocean. thud surface if it is indeed still at the bottom of the ocean.— surface if it is indeed still at the bottom of the ocean. and carl, one of the things _

it's notjust an aerial operation, is also a surface operation with listening devices and they're looking below the surface as well because they simply don't know where this muscle might be. they really are using all their capabilities and bringing in more from other agencies because this is such a specialised and at such a difficult search. timer;r and at such a difficult search. they emphasised _ and at such a difficult search. they emphasised the _ and at such a difficult search. they emphasised the complexity of it. one of the activex that's making it so complex, it was because it both surface and subsurface, but they also talked about the challenges of actually getting additional equipment to the location. yeah, one ofthe equipment to the location. yeah, one of the things — equipment to the location. yeah, one of the things that's _ equipment to the location. yeah, one of the things that's important - equipment to the location. yeah, one of the things that's important to - of the things that's important to to of the things that's important to understand is that the equipment understand is that the equipment that's necessary to go down to these that's necessary to go down to these kinds of tips that we're talking kinds of tips that we're talking about, because a traditional about, because a traditional submarine would only go a couple of submarine would only go a couple of hundred metres below the surface of hundred metres below the surface of the ocean, and where this the ocean, and where this
