6:42 pm
being expressed firstly that there may be an exodus of top talent away from europe towards the saudi pro league something that the ua for president himself has expressed in recent days. could this lead to inflated transfer wages, salaries and agents fees as well? that has been concerns raised about competitive balance, whether or not some clubs, if they are bankrolled by middle eastern states like saudi arabia or by ruling families for example i dhabi, manchester city, could they become too dominant in the competitive balance of the football landscape could be affected but there's also an integrity question as well. there have been reports that the pif the sovereign wealth fund of saudi arabia who owned newcastle united and who are bankrolling this big investment into the saudi league also have a stake in clearlake capital, the private equity group that are majority shareholders in chelsea will stop chelsea have not denied that that is the case that they do denied that
6:43 pm
there is any kind of direct or undue influence over what chelsea are doing from saudi arabia's side. i suppose the fear is that if that were the case n'golo kante, one of the many players linked to big money moves to saudi arabia, he made the moves to saudi arabia, he made the move that others could follow. we know that chelsea need to off—load a significant amount of talent in order to meet the rules posted big losses in recent years the rules only allowed for a certain amount of losses and so does this give them potentially some kind of advantage because of this potential link with the pif. that is something which chelsea has downplayed any possibility of.— chelsea has downplayed any ossibili of. ,, , ., possibility of. issues arising from a moral point _ possibility of. issues arising from a moral point of— possibility of. issues arising from a moral point of view _ possibility of. issues arising from a moral point of view as - possibility of. issues arising from a moral point of view as well. - possibility of. issues arising from | a moral point of view as well. this is a familiar— a moral point of view as well. this is a familiar argument. _ a moral point of view as well. try 3 is a familiar argument. this is all part of a sports washing attempts, a cynical ploy by a country in the middle east with chequered human

rights reputation using sport, and this gives football, using that association to legitimise, normalise its regime and reputation. that is something which human rights campaigners are adamant about. we haveis campaigners are adamant about. we have is expressed different countries in sports but if you talk to the saudi arabian authorities they deny that. they said that this is an attempt to try and invest in sport to diversify their economy, increased tourism, preparing for a post—oil world. to try and decrease participation and inspire the published stick of football, go and watch football and may be saved as part of a much wider social societal attempt to bring about modernisation. they refer to the fact that there is now a women's national team in saudi arabia. there is thousands of girls and women playing the game. there are leagues being created and they want the saudi pearly to be one of top leagues in the world. so depends on who you talk to, as ever with this but you can see why for many, this does raise ethical questions. iloathed

warmer in the sunshine again today. temperatures widely in the low to mid 20s and could make 28 degrees in the south—east of england. those showers that do develop shouldn't last too long this evening. they'll fade away and it'll be dry for a while. but then as we head further into the night, we're going to find cloud coming in from the atlantic that will bring some rain into northern ireland, push the cloud over the irish sea heading into western scotland as well. quite a warm night tonight, but there are warmer and more humid nights to come as we head into the weekend. this is the picture, though, on friday. and that rain clears northern ireland to be followed by some sharp showers, some rain pushes into scotland, into northern england and across wales. many sheltered eastern areas may well be dry and through much of the midlands towards the south—east we should see more sunshine around here. and this is where we'll see the highest temperatures around the mid 20s in the south—east of england. under the cloud and some rain at times further north and west temperatures will be a bit lower, and temperatures may be a bit lower

for the women's ashes cricket at trent bridge, day two. it should be dry this time, even though there will be quite a bit of cloud around. and there“ll be quite a cloudy start, i think, for many of us to start the weekend, we will see the overnight rain clearing away. just a few showers around, mainly drifting northwards across scotland. the cloud should tend to thin and break and that will allow it to get warmer temperatures into the mid twenties for scotland and northern ireland and could be close to 30 degrees in the south east of england. so it's getting hot on saturday. it's also getting really quite humid as we draw this humid air, this muggy airfrom continental europe ahead of this weather front, which will eventually bring a change in the weather. that's going to bring some heavy rain and some thunderstorms into northern ireland and then through the day towards scotland, wales and some western parts of england. staying dry until late in the day for eastern areas. here, it's still going to be very muggy. temperatures could be 30 degrees in the southeast and east anglia. out to the west after the rain, it does turn a little cooler and fresher, but until then, it looks like it's going to be
