legend low sensation, with the true legend low delegate tony hawk. hello, i'm lewis vaughanjones, welcome to the daily global where we will be bringing you all the top stories from right around the world. our main story of course is the events in france, butjust to mark your card, we are expecting to hear a press conference out of new york relating to the titan submersible, of course, that was on its way to view the titanic where it imploded, killing all five on board. this organisation that we are expecting to hear from any organisation that we are expecting to hearfrom any moment organisation that we are expecting to hear from any moment were involved in the search and rescue operation, so they were called in by the company that owned the sub, the titan sub, and they were operating

those rov pots that were searching in the sea at depth for not only the sub and fruit bits of debris, but also after the discovery was made, searching for more and try to piece together what happened. so as you will be aware, that search and rescue operation has been finished for a while, but the continuing investigation to try and piece together exactly what happened has been continuing, and that's why we are giving across this press conference here because we may be learning more details as regarding to that. so we'll be keeping an eye on that for you, as soon as we sadly anyone come close to the microphones there, get ready to start speaking, we will cross back to new york. to

france now because they are getting ready for potentially a fourth night of disturbance and riots, this is all due to the shading democrat shooting dead of nahel m, and the authorities have announced some tough action to try and get a hold of the situation, so they've authorised the use of armoured police vehicles out tonight, buses and trams have been asked to stop running nationwide which is a big restriction, also calling for the restriction, also calling for the restriction of fireworks and big public events going on into the weekend have been cancelled. that's what they are trying to do ahead of this evening. let's look now at the events from last night, take a look at these pictures. this is a fire on at these pictures. this is a fire on a street, and this is one of 3800 fires on roads alone, reported across france last night. 875

arrests and scores of police officers injured throughout the protests and riots as well. let's take a look at the map of france and show you where this has all been happening there. it isn'tjust paris, although the focus is paris, but there have been many protests right across the country. let's look at emmanuel macron*s response to all this because he's been highly critical of the violence, he's also been critical of the role of social media that's been playing, and he's also been asking parents to keep their children at home. let's listen to him. i'm afraid we can't bring you that clip of emmanuel macron, we will bring you that a little bit later if we get it. just to remind you now of the instance that all led to this, i mentioned the 17—year—old

of algerian dissent, nahel, he was stopped by police officer and shot, the police officer has been arrested and charged. in the last last hour or so, and charged. in the last last hour orso, france's and charged. in the last last hour or so, france's maine police union have released a statement, and they say that against this wild again, "we must impose calm,"... lets go live now to nanterre, in paris. that's a pretty dramatic scene right behind you, just talk us through it. it scene right behind you, “ust talk us throu~h it. ,, ., ., , through it. it speaks for itself, lewis, through it. it speaks for itself, lewis. you've _ through it. it speaks for itself, lewis, you've got _ through it. it speaks for itself, lewis, you've got burnt - through it. it speaks for itself,

lewis, you've got burnt out. through it. it speaks for itself, l lewis, you've got burnt out cars still here. we came up the road here and drove past rows of burnt out cars that were just parked along, some literally reduced to ash. you can still smell the smoke hanging in the air, there's a note on that one there, doesn't really say much, but it gives you a real sense of the impact of the violence last night, and this isjust impact of the violence last night, and this is just a really small section of it. we've seen shops that have been smashed up, traffic lights melted, cash machines that have been bashed up, a lot of violence. but people here say there's a reason for it — we spoke to one man who lives in this area who said that he felt the violence was justified, and he said that is because — the reasons people are taking to the street are deep—rooted and they go far beyond
6:06 pm
the death of 17—year—old nahel. he said there were many young men from minority communities here, whether that's in the african community or people with arab heritage who live in this ethnically diverse neighbourhood to feel the police targets them and doesn't protect them. and to be blunt, he says he believes the police are racist. we heard from the un today as well saying they felt there were issues with police when it came to targeting people of certain racial backgrounds. france's foreign minister put out a statement after that responding to what the un had to say, saying those accusations were unfounded. but you speak to people here and that is why they believe that they should take to the streets. now i haven't spoken to anyone who's directly participated in the violence, but others say the violence shouldn't be happening and it's one step too far. we are at a restaurant this morning where they were sweeping up the glass, trying to put together broken chairs and
6:07 pm
tables because they had been vandalized last night. so of course the violence is dividing opinion, but most people we've spoken to here believe that the root cause, that broken relationship between the police and the people... i’m broken relationship between the police and the people... i'm sorry to “um police and the people... i'm sorry to jump in. _ police and the people... i'm sorry to jump in. we — police and the people... i'm sorry to jump in, we will _ police and the people... i'm sorry to jump in, we willjust _ police and the people... i'm sorry to jump in, we willjust cut - police and the people... i'm sorry to jump in, we willjust cut acrossj to jump in, we willjust cut across you there and head straight to new york because that press conference is starting there relating to the titan sub. let's listen in. thank ou for titan sub. let's listen in. thank you for allowing _ titan sub. let's listen in. thank you for allowing us _ titan sub. let's listen in. thank you for allowing us this - titan sub. let's listen in. thank- you for allowing us this opportunity to provide you with some of the details about our part in the collective response of the titan submersible tragedy, really, and the subsequent recovery. i want to introduce the ceo of pelagic research services. ed was the
