us 0penjoint top of the leaderboard. this shot at the fifth, setting lin up for a short putt, to make birdie. they both finished their first round on four—under at pebble beach. that's all the sport for now. we're going to bring you some breaking news now. the scottish government says it wants to decriminalise the personal use of drugs.
11:51 am
it is calling on the uk government to do this across britain or give holyrood the power to do this. the announcement was made at the global commission on drug policy in edinburgh. the ministerfor drugs policy, elena whitman, said she wanted drugs laws to be brought into the 21st century. she argued the move would allow those found in possession of drugs to be treated and supported rather than criminalised. there's been no response so far from the uk government. since 2021, it was the norm for a person in possession of class a drugs to be issued with a police warning in most cases. this is now taking it one step forward. we will speak to our correspondent in glasgow or edinburgh later here on

a bbc investigation edinburgh later has found that bbc news. "dangerous" muscle building supplements are being sold to gym—goers across the uk. the products, which are popular on social media, aren't approved for sale — however, the bbc has found them widely available in shops and online. experts are warning they can cause serious side effects. for gym—goers searching for quick gains, substances like these are the latest thing. they are selective androgen receptor modulators — commonly known as sarms — and are available for purchase alongside other similar muscle—building drugs. in a quarter of a mile, turn right. but none of these are approved for human consumption anywhere in the uk, and it's a criminal offence to sell them as such. despite that, i was able to buy them in shops around the country.
11:53 am
some of the shops did mention there are side effects, but all of them promised me quick results. even says here on one bottle that it's for research purposes only, but goes on to claim it's a potent muscle—builder. now, none of them list any health risks, but medical experts warn these drugs are dangerous, with potentially serious long—term side effects. rhys was 20 when he took unapproved muscle—building pills marketed as sarms to help with his weight training. about, i'd say, two weeks in, that's when i started to feel the side effects. so it was pretty quick. the erectile dysfunction, the hot sweats. i'd go to the gym, i'd feel strong.
11:54 am
but it wasn't like max potential because my sleep wasn't quite there. i'd say i was getting, like, four hours of quality sleep. yeah, you're getting stronger, you might be getting bigger, but as soon as you stop taking them, it all falls off. the royal pharmaceutical society warns against using sarms, and says urgent action needs to be taken by regulators to control the market. what we would like to see is the laws around them tightened. we would like to see better control over them and an acknowledgement that they are not being used for research purposes when they're being purchased. the food standards agency and food standards scotland, in response to our investigation, said sarms and similar drugs are not authorised for sale in the uk and should not be taken. they also said consumers should report businesses selling these substances to them or their local authority. we asked the shops we visited for a response. not all came back to us, but those that did expressed confusion about the regulations. 0ne told us they have now stopped selling all sarms and are seeking guidance from the food standards agency.
11:55 am
after his experience, rhys now thinks there are safer ways to get results at the gym. they're not researched enough. you don't know the negative effects. there's a lot of ways to do it naturally, so in increasing your knowledge on your training, your nutrition, getting your nutrition a lot better. i wouldn't recommend sarms to anyone, and those that are currently taking sarms now, i would say stop. thousands of radiographers are going on strike in england this morning, bringing disruption to procedures like x—rays, mri and ct scans and ultrasounds. the society of radiographers have been offered a 5% pay rise for 2023 — and a cash payment for 2022 — but say it's not good enough.
11:56 am
at wimbledon, the british number one, cameron norrie, might be the last brit standing after making it through to the second round. the two—time champion andy murray showed his pedigree on thursday leading two sets to one before it was stopped due to restrictions by the local council. play is to resume later today. now it's time for a look at the weather with carol kirkwood. hello again. for many of us today it's going to be dry, it's going to be sunny, it's going to be warm or hot and it's going to be increasingly feeling more humid, as well. temperatures today in the south—east could get up to 29 degrees. locally, even 30 degrees, but widely we're looking at the low 20s to the mid—20s. pollen levels across england and wales today are high, and we're talking grass pollen, but we are coming now towards the end of the grass pollen season. we've had some rain across northern ireland and scotland
11:57 am
courtesy of this weather front, which is now waving back into the atlantic. we're sucking up all this humid air from the near continent. a lot of dry weather as we go through the rest of today. again, a lot of sunshine. one or two showers are possible across scotland and northern ireland, they might turn out to be heavy and thundery, but there will be a lot of sunshine around them and still windy out towards the west in particular. temperatures 16 in lerwick to 29 or 30 somewhere in the south—east, but even around the moray firth we could see into the mid—20s. for wimbledon today it's going to be dry. there should be no interruptions to play due to the weather. 27 degrees being the top temperature and turning increasingly humid through the day. it's the same for headingley. a dry day today, dry evening and, again, sunny and hot with the humidity levels rising through the day. as we head through the evening and overnight, there will be clear skies, still quite windy out towards the west and then we've got the arrival of the next weather front coming in from the south—west introducing thicker cloud and also some showery outbreaks of rain.
11:58 am
these are our overnight lows, 11 to 18 degrees, but don't forget, it is going to feel humid. it will be a humid start to the day tomorrow, but, for many, it will be dry, it will be sunny, but here's our weather front, which will be coming in overnight, moving steadily northwards and eastwards. some of this will be heavy and also thundery. it's likely to cause some interruption to play tomorrow at wimbledon and headingley. these are our temperatures — 17 to about 29 degrees north to south. as we head on into sunday things start to change. our first weather front clears off, but we do have a lot of showers packing in behind. now, don't take this as gospel because our models have been changing and they could change again, but it's looking like it's going to be a showery day with some sunshine in between, with highs up to about 23.
