who's never played at a major. tommy fleetwood, sepp straka, justin rose, shane lowry and nicolai hojgaard complete the i2—man team to face the united states in rome from the 29th of septmber. understandably it was aberg that was the biggest tallking point for the captain at today's press conference. really, i needed to see him perform these last two weeks. it certainly wasn't a guarantee before that, and his commitment to come over and finishing fifth, that obviously what he did yesterday and throughout the whole week, during his last forjust solidified my mind, really. again, there was all to play for these last couple weeks, it really wasn't decided firmly in my mind. well donald also named the experiencejustin rose amongst his wildcards — and when asked about aberg, rose said he's been impressed

certain golfers, athletes have that x factor that means that they are evil to seize the moment and that is exactly what he did yesterday. four birdies in the last five holes to land his first national title on the eve of the announcement of the ryder cup team and the wild card pics. he knew he had to do and played very well in the czech republic the week before and he played with luke donald in detroit earlier in the summer and really impressed him with some low—scoring there. so every time he is needed to impress, he has done it. this off of the back of a stellar amateur career, broke amateur number one and a seen as a generational talent.- number one and a seen as a generational talent. generationaltalent. team us defending _ generationaltalent. team us defending champions - generationaltalent. team us defending champions but - generationaltalent. team us defending champions but not| generational talent. team us - defending champions but not one on your— defending champions but not one on your pencil rule —— soil for 30 years. _ on your pencil rule —— soil for 30 years. is— on your pencil rule —— soil for 30 years, is this one of their best— 30 years, is this one of their best chances to do it. | 30 years, is this one of their best chances to do it.- best chances to do it. i think so they are _ best chances to do it. i think so they are coming - best chances to do it. i think so they are coming in - best chances to do it. i think so they are coming in off- best chances to do it. i think so they are coming in off ofl so they are coming in off of the back of of a record margin and taken the european model and taken the european model and much more of the crime

i think alike democrat excitement levels have gone through the roof. we are here and it's been months of talking and talking, and we're just really glad and excited that we are here to start it. i don't think there's ever been a rugby world cup that's ever been as anticipated with the excitement is building notjust here in france, but around the world, for this tournament. if you're english, maybe less so. there will that has been dogged by defeats and ill discipline with few expecting their stomach or a repeat of their run to the finalfour years ago. we've been through a situation with injuries — now for us, - that's made us stronger. i sense that for us, there's a renewed determination. i | and i certainly get the feeling | from the players that they feel they've been written off a bit too early. - argentina and japan will provide england was like toughest test in the group, but what about chile? at their first world cup, they have never played in front of more than 40,000, never played a top—tier nation, but are here to show off their swagger. translation: it's very - emotional with this welcome

with all the chilean flags. it makes you feel proud and full of emotion. we are living the dream. it's the best moment of rugby in the history of chile. as for the favourites, ireland and south africa, hosts france and new zealand should go far. they meet in the team opener on friday. the home nation appreciation is massive. we've heard that from our boys in the last couple days, and we'll use that as a little bit of energy. they've got a few dings, we have got a few dings, as well, so should be one hell of a contest in a special stadium. if they both have things it's not long until second is out round one. cheering ben croucher, bbc news. now — on sunday, formula one was all about max verstappen — after he set a new record,

winning 10 grand prix's in a row. on monda — mercedes team principal toto wolff says the record is *completely irrelevent*. verstappen's victory at monza means he surpassed his red bull predecessor sebastian vettel*s run of nine straight victories in 2013 —but wolff said: "these kinds of records are completely irrelevant. they were irrelevant in our good days at mercedes. i don't know how many races we won in a row. i didn't even know there was a count." you can get all the latest sports news from the bbc sport website but from me and the rest of the team at the bbc sport centre, goodbye. hello there. the weather story so far this week has been dominated by sunshine and heat. and i suspect as we go through the week ahead, it's all going to be about numbers. 30 degrees was recorded on monday across parts of england and wales.
12:55 am
highest temperatures of the summer *23 was back injune with 32.2 celsius, but there is a possibility as we go through the week with heat and humidity building, that we could see 32 degrees, maybe even higher. which would be ironic because september is the start of meteorological autumn. for tuesday, though on the whole will start off with a little bit of low cloud, mist and fog across eastern england and maybe shrouding the far north of scotland, but that will quickly burn away. a lot of sunshine coming through, generally light winds. and once again, it is going to feel warm, if not hot in many places with temperatures peaking once again at around 29 or 30 degrees. now, as we move out of tuesday into the early hours of wednesday morning, we'll see yet again more low cloud, mist and fog developing. a little bit more extensive, perhaps coming in across eastern england. but it will be a mild at night, temperatures widely into the mid—teens. so as we move into wednesday, we're still under this
12:56 am
influence of high pressure with lows sitting out across iberia. and that's driving in this southerly breeze, so it will turn increasingly more humid as we go through wednesday and thursday. and it's wednesday and thursday that we may well see those temperatures peaking. so to start off on wednesday, yes, perhaps a murky start, but it won't be long before that sunshine breaks through and we will see those temperatures continuing to climb with that light southerly wind direction. so highs possible of 31, maybe a degree or so higher as well. we will keep a very close eye on that as we go through the day on wednesday. into thursday, there's a risk of a few thundery downpours breaking out with that increasing humidity, they should be fairly isolated. but if you catch one, you may well know about them and they're likely to be up through the north—west. top temperatures generally of around 21, again into the low 30s across central and southern parts of england and wales. the dry, settled conditions continue into the weekend with the risk potentially of some rain, perhaps from monday onwards. take care.
