you are watching bbc news. all medical staff at north bristol trust are to receive more training to spot the signs of sepsis. the trust — which includes southmead hospital — made the promise at the inquest into the death of student rugby player maddy lawrence. she died in march after developing an infection in intensive care. cheryl dennis has more. 20—year—old maddy lawrence was a student at the university of the west of england who died a fortnight after dislocating her hip during a rugby match. during the inquest, we heard how signs of sepsis in maddy may have been missed on news scores during her treatment. these charts are made up of medical observations on things like temperature, heart rate and blood pressure. they're designed to show early indications that a patient is either deteriorating or developing a potentially serious infection like sepsis. addressing the coroner, the north bristol nhs trust,
