the m 53 and the emergency services remain on the scene with a number of the road is closed around the area. very difficult pictures to look at well you know there were schoolchildren on board that but there's been a wide response to this already with statements from local mps and the education secretary on the schools themselves. absolutely. what we are — the schools themselves. absolutely. what we are witnessing _ the schools themselves. absolutely. what we are witnessing is _ the schools themselves. absolutely. what we are witnessing is a - what we are witnessing is a community pulling together because so many resources are being thrown at this given the seriousness of the incident and we know emergency services have sent lots of different types of teams to address the situation, advance paramedics and hazardous response teams, they played a major incidents and we mention the nhs workers who left the picket line given that they want to help and of course merseyside police is appealing for anyone who has any information, whether that be footage

from the scene when they were witnessing it or cctv cameras that they have access to or dashboard cameras to send the information in and of course the local mp office has also said that should there be any need for assistance to feel free to contact the local constituency office. i do want to mention that merseyside police, the commissioner has stressed that people should avoid speculating on the amount of injuries, and the people involved, because again, these scenes are very distressing and children are involved and they realise that sort of speculation could cause distress and they are trying to keep levels as calm as possible as they respond as calm as possible as they respond as quickly as they can. fix, as calm as possible as they respond as quickly as they can.— as quickly as they can. a little earlier i spoke _ as quickly as they can. a little earlier i spoke to _ as quickly as they can. a little earlier i spoke to jamie - as quickly as they can. a little . earlier i spoke to jamie bowman, as quickly as they can. a little - earlier i spoke to jamie bowman, a earlier i spoke to jamie bowman, a journalist at the wirral globe, a local paper, and he told me how the local paper, and he told me how the local community has been reacting.

it's been a traumatic morning for all of us involved on the newspaper. it's a smallish community and we've been on the scene since around half past eight, as soon as we heard. the latest we have heard is one female patient has been taken to hospital suffering major trauma —related injuries and around 50 students, pupils have been treated both at the scene and up local hospitals including alder hey in liverpool, over the water from the wirral, alder hey children's hospital and our thoughts go to all of the children and parents involved in what has been a very distressing morning for everyone involved. henge morning for everyone involved. have ou morning for everyone involved. have you managed — morning for everyone involved. have you managed to _ morning for everyone involved. have you managed to talk _ morning for everyone involved. have you managed to talk to _ morning for everyone involved. have you managed to talk to anyone from the local community who works in the school has children at school. what are the messages being sent out to the community?—

and to? we don't at the moment. we know the two schools involved - and to? we don't at the moment. we know the two schools involved in - and to? we don't at the moment. we know the two schools involved in the | know the two schools involved in the accident happened around the time you would expect children to be you would expect children to he being transported to school, so they do various pick—ups around the wirral area and there are children from two schools involved and these would have been buses operated to take them to school, and i think obviously all over the country the same thing was happening, there would be buses taking children to school around that time which is why so many of us can empathise and sympathise with what the parents are going through. sympathise with what the parents are going through-— going through. we've heard from local mps and — going through. we've heard from local mps and councillors - going through. we've heard from local mps and councillors and - going through. we've heard from local mps and councillors and a l going through. we've heard from | local mps and councillors and a lot of people offering their support. so just talk us through what they are saying and where people can go if they need access to support. yes. they need access to support. yes, we've seen _ they need access to support. yes, we've seen various _ they need access to support. yes, we've seen various mps _ they need access to support. yes, we've seen various mps and - they need access to support. 1a: we've seen various mps and i know margaret greenwood, one of the local mps even tweeted her constituency office number and said she was happy

to speak to people and we have seen alison mcgovern, one of our local mps doing similarand alison mcgovern, one of our local mps doing similar and angela eagle and mick whiteley as well, so all of the mps in the wirral have got involved and it's that kind of community. we were contacted by a local councillor who was stuck in a queue close to the accidents happening and gave us an update. i think people are rallying round and the children get the help they need and we are that kind of community, so i'm sure everyone will be thinking of those children and giving them the help they need over the coming days. that giving them the help they need over the coming days-— the coming days. that was jamie bowman from — the coming days. that was jamie bowman from the _ the coming days. that was jamie bowman from the wirral - the coming days. that was jamie bowman from the wirral globe. | bowman from the wirral globe. earlier nick garnett was outside alder hey hospital in liverpool which is treating some of the pupils and he gave us the picture there. we don't and he gave us the picture there. , don't know the number of children here that have been brought here, 15

orso here that have been brought here, 15 or so children —— 50 or so children were on board the coach and a number have been brought in. the hospital says the emergency department is currently extremely busy and what they are asking is there anyone who has a sick child in the area who may have been coming into hospital, if they can, delay yourjourney unless it is urgent and they need immediate treatment, but we are asking people who may have come down here because they can't get an appointment elsewhere not come down here and leave the hospital as clear as possible who are injured here. and we do not expect any more patients to be brought into the hospital and this is in effect the third hospital out in terms of escalating rings. the crash happened in wirral and the nearest hospital is arrow park hospital and then the next nearest one is at the royal liverpool hospital which is under the tunnel

1:56 pm
have gone in or there was strike action affecting the hospital tour but we know the hospital is treating patients as much as they possibly can and they are giving any details about the numbers involved, but they have not given those who have not been seen to come here in the next couple of hours. been seen to come here in the next couple of hours-— couple of hours. now it's time for a look at the — couple of hours. now it's time for a look at the weather. _ couple of hours. now it's time for a look at the weather. there - couple of hours. now it's time for a look at the weather. there are - couple of hours. now it's time for a look at the weather. there are two | look at the weather. there are two sides to the weather story this weekend. one side is some unseasonable warmth. we may see temperatures as high as 2a celsius but there will be rain at times and you can see this area of cloud, whether systemic that will push him from the south—west during tomorrow and in the short term, a lot of sunshine out there and in western parts, and most especially in the north of scotland where the showers
1:57 pm
will be heavy or windy through the afternoon and feeling quite fresh, between 13 or 20 degrees, pleasant in any sunshine on their through tonight most of the showers will fade and we will keep some going across the northern isles but aside from a few missed patches, largely clear skies which will allow it to get relatively chilly, not desperately cold for a late september night but many spots will get into single digits, but thanks to the ridge of high pressure it will be a mainly fine start to saturday. howeverthis will be a mainly fine start to saturday. however this frontal system will approach from the west and that will throw high cloud across the sky, turning it hazy and then the cloud will thicken out towards the west with outbreaks of heavy rain pushing across northern ireland into northern and western parts of wales and the isle of man, england into central and southern parts of scotland and it will be relatively windy for some of the irish sea coast. 20 degrees in
1:58 pm
london. as we move through saturday, the weather system will continue to wriggle around and there will be heavy bursts of rain across central parts of the uk as the weather system advances it will draw in humid air into sunday and a warm and quite muggy start to sunday and misty and murky for some of the southern coast. we could see showery rain across the coast and southern parts of england and wales in sunshine and showers across northern ireland and scotland, but down towards the south—east with the humid air we could see temperatures up humid air we could see temperatures up to 23 or 2a degrees and next week is a mixed affair with rain at times and it will be quite breezy and it might turn warm towards the end of the week, especially in the south.
