weather prospects. before we do that, we havejust had weather prospects. before we do that, we have just had an update on the last few minutes. we were talking earlier about storm babet. we are just hearing from angus council that it is telling 350 households that they must evacuate in the brechin. that news is through in the brechin. that news is through in the brechin. that news is through in the last few minutes and that gives you a sense of the scale of that situation. let's get a weather forecast wherever you live in the country. chris fawkes is here with the weather. a lot of difficult at times coming. ifeel this isjust the a lot of difficult at times coming. i feel this is just the start of it. the met office have issued a rare red warning covering angus where we have seen evacuations and also aberdeenshire, dundee, perth and kinross. it is the chelation of rain building up over the next few days that will cause problems with flooding from various parts of the country as we will see in this forecast. —— the accumulation. storm

babet causing problems, bringing milder bumping against this area of high pressure in scandinavia. these fronts cannot move and they get stuck across the same area, very active, bringing that torrential persistent rain with rainfall totals building up causing problems. it is notjust rainfall, we are seeing gusts into the 70 mph is across eastern scotland. the wind is strong enough to bring down trees which could cause disruption. for northern ireland, england and wales, a mild day of sunny spells and heavy showers, but the focus has to be on scotland, where today and tonight and into the first part of tomorrow we have a number weather warning for heavy rain. these communities in these areas could see serious flooding. but this more focused area, the rain is going to be so intense that there could be some communities that get completely cut off by floodwaters due to the torrential nature of the rain. so extreme rainfall from this storm system, getting heavier throughout the afternoon and overnight, torrential, driven in by strong

gusty winds. it turns wetter for england, wales and northern ireland overnight with heavy bursts of rain developing across many parts of the country. let's look at the weather picture into tomorrow. still rain to start the day in scotland. even as we see something of an improvement with the weather is the day goes by, the rain stops perhaps, all that water still comes down the catchment. so even after it stops raining, the flooding can still get far worse for some communities before it starts to get better and at the same time, we see that really heavy rain setting in places across england, wales with amber weather warnings in force through friday, friday night in the first part of saturday around the scottish borders, the peak district and the pennines and north wales. so these areas could also see flooding issues. heavy rain overnight for these areas. as we go into saturday, something of an improvement in that something of an improvement in that some of the heaviest rain starts to ease. however, storm babet is very likely to lead to some significant

confirmation there of the inclusion of steward, marlar and martin. vice—captain ellis genge drops to the bench alongside george ford as owen farrell retains his fly—half role. meanwhile, the defending champions, south africa, are unchanged from the 15 that beat france in that thrilling quarter final on sunday night. that means marnie libbok continues at fly half, ahead of handre pollard while cobus reinach keeps his place ahead of faf de klerk. when we had the selection meeting as a coaching group and with other selectors, there were lots of discussions, but at the end of the day, we felt that everybody that's played on sunday had a proper performance as an individual and as a team, they played quite well together, so looking at that, we decided to just go for continuity. so england take on south africa

on saturday, but the first semi final takes place tomorrow evening — with argentina up against new zealand also in paris. the pumas have defied expectation, after losing heavily to england in their first group match, reaching the semis for the third time in world cup history. they face a huge task against the all blacks, though, who are coming off the back of that epic quarterfinal win against ireland. we will have to improve our performance, because the stage gets bigger and bigger at this time of the tournament and you have to grow your game. that is a strong focus and so we are not buying into anything about favouritism or underdogs, or whatever it is, it doesn't make a difference to us, we know we have to perform at our best, and that is how we will approach this game. india are looking to match new zealand's four wins out of four at the cricket world cup. the hosts need to beat bangladesh in pune. bangladesh got off

the legendary american tennis player billiejean king has said she's keen to see a world cup of tennis which would combine the women's competition that bears her name with the men's davis cup. king accepts though that there are "a thousand questions" which would need resolving before the two tournaments can become one. tournament director conchita martinez said she would also be in favour, so long as women get equal time on the show courts and the same access to the practice courts. well, king also believes the wta will hold tournaments in saudi arabia in the coming years, hoping that such a move will bring change to the country. saudi arabia has been linked with a move into tennis in recent months, following substantial investment in golf, football and boxing. the thing i am concerned as a woman, i want change if we go. but i am big on engagement and inclusion, so it is a tough one. but i know people will go there. the wta played in

are being driven onto shore by the high winds, with heavy rains. the worst of the storm has yet to strike in scotland, but preparations for flooding and high winds are already under way. this picture shows the flood gates closed in the centre of perth, alongside the river tay. and you can see here how sandbags and flood gates have already been put in place at one building in nearby aberfoyle. with supplies of sandbags having been placed nearby on standby, for when they might be needed. aberdeenshire council has a live shot of stonehaven harbour. this is the scene there live now. you can see the wind whipping up the waves, and making the camera shake. the gusts are also driving the rain into the shore. so, why is this storm so dangerous and how often are we likely to see events like this? chris fawkes from our weather team joins me now. just give us some analysis of the storm. why is it considered just so
