just a reminder of the cricket. 126-7. not just a reminder of the cricket. 126—7. not doing bad at all. that's all for now. we'll see you soon. pakistan has given a last warning to all immigrants in the country illegally to leave voluntarily before november the 1st. they include hundreds of thousands of afghans. the first charter flight in months bringing afghan refugees from pakistan to the uk is due to leave today. thousands of people and their families who risked their lives to work with or for the uk in afghanistan and were promised uk visas have been stuck in pakistan, some for over a year. live now to caroline davies in islamabad. what is the background to the situation? there are a couple of

relocation programme is that the uk runs for people that you say worked with or for the uk government runs for people that you say worked with orfor the uk government in afghanistan. many of those individuals were asked to come to pakistan because the uk cannot process visas for the uk in afghanistan, so once they were accepted onto the skin, they were asked to come here. they thought they would be here for a few weeks, and many of them now have been here for many months. charities that support some of these individuals that have been here for over a year, they include translators that used to work with the british army and teachers for the british council. we know there are over 3000 of them and theirfamilies who are know there are over 3000 of them and their families who are currently living in islam are bad hotel sending guest houses paid for by the uk government. added to all of this backdrop, is the fact that as you say pakistan says it is planning to deport illegal migrants from the country from the 1st of november, some of those individuals who are on
11:52 am
these uk relocation programme is planning to deport illegal migrants from the country from the 1st of november, some of those individuals who were on these uk relocation programmes allowed —— arrived in their visas were only valid for a few months and have now expired. they are very worried about what might happen next. i've been talking to the interior minister of pakistan and he said that those individuals will be given leave to go to the uk. we also know that the documents revealed in a court case in the uk show that the authorities here have done a risk assessment to what happens to those individuals whose visas have expired, and they say that they are at risk of deportation. we have also now heard about the fact that there are these charter flights that have restarted again. the first one we know has just left pakistan going to london. we know there are more planned, but of course there are 3000 of these individuals that are still here in pakistan waiting to be relocated, and what is how quickly those people can get out, how they can be
11:53 am
processed, and how many of them will leave the country before that deadline of the 1st of november. some as you say have been there for over a year. why have they been stuck in pakistan? this over a year. why have they been stuck in pakistan?— over a year. why have they been stuck in pakistan? this court case that i mentioned _ stuck in pakistan? this court case that i mentioned earlier— stuck in pakistan? this court case that i mentioned earlier sheds - stuck in pakistan? this court case that i mentioned earlier sheds a l that i mentioned earlier sheds a little bit of light on the decisions that were made in government that got to this point. this court case has brought up an e—mail chain sent from the prime minister sent back in 2022 that individuals should not be brought over from pakistan to the uk until there was more suitable accommodation for them, until there was more suitable accommodation forthem, longerterm accommodation for them, longer term accommodation, accommodation forthem, longerterm accommodation, rather than putting them into hotels. the end result of that, also mentioned in the same e—mails, it is hard to find accommodation for all of these individuals. essentially, a lot of individuals. essentially, a lot of individuals were not taken out of pakistan because they could not find that suitable accommodation. we now know from speaking to different sources that there is flexibility
11:54 am
for the british government about that accommodation. we still don't know exactly where these individuals will be put up back in the uk when they arrive. we will be put up back in the uk when they arrive-— they arrive. we will have to leave it there. caroline _ they arrive. we will have to leave it there. caroline davies - they arrive. we will have to leave it there. caroline davies in - it there. caroline davies in islamabad. thank you very much. now, it is time for a look at the weather. hello. our very unsettled, changeable spell of autumn weather continues through today and really for the remainder of october as well. we have got a bit of sunshine developing through the day, this is the picture a little earlier in newcastle, county down. but some big shower clouds around too, so through today and the next couple of days, unsettled showers or longer spells of rain, some of them are going to be quite heavy and particularly wet weather for eastern scotland. so this is where we're expecting the rainfall to accumulate for the next three days. and you can see the green colours developing here across parts of aberdeenshire and eastern scotland where we could see up to 100 millimetres of rain falling on that very saturated ground. so more flooding is possible through the weekend. now we've got low pressure, this swirl of clouds sitting out
11:55 am
to the west of the uk and weather fronts are going to be driving their way gradually northeastward. so today the most persistent rain will be for parts of east anglia, lincolnshire, up the east coast of england, towards eastern scotland too. some showers that are going to be quite persistent across the far north of scotland, where it's going to be windy. sunny spells and scattered showers returning for northern ireland, wales and the south west of england as well. i think fewer showers towards the midlands. through this evening and tonight then, we're going to keep the breeze for parts of northern scotland, south west of england as well — driving in further showers here. a few clear spells, could be some mist and murky patches for central parts of england and wales, and certainly it's going to be frost free as we look towards tomorrow morning. so friday, still low pressure sitting here to the west, really not moving in a hurry. the winds driving around that area of low pressure, bringing in more showers to parts of southern england, wales, through some of these irish sea coasts as well. and this easterly wind will drive in further persistent rain for parts of north—east england and eastern scotland. not too heavy at this stage, but rainfall totals will be gradually mounting up across the south and east of scotland.
11:56 am
temperatures around about ten to 15 degrees for most of us on friday. and that low pressure not budging into the weekend. so we've got further frontal systems driving around that low pressure sweeping in from the south—west for saturday. i think the heaviest of the showers will be for parts of southern england and through some of these irish sea coasts once again. but the easterly breeze still bringing more rain across the east of scotland, so flooding is a possibility. temperature wise, around about 10 to 16 degrees, fairly typical for the time of year, and the outlook through the weekend into next week — some sunshine but plenty of fairly blustery and at times heavy downpours. bye— bye.
