today. gareth southgate the current england manager and a player under terry venables said he was an outstanding coach and manager. this is from alan shearer, part of that team. and paul gascoigne as well. first, i would like to say an incredibly sad day this is. it has hit me quite hard because i was very close to terry. he wasn'tjust a coach or a manager, but he was a friend. i worked with him in television for many years. he was the only manager i had in my career that would regularly take me out for lunch, where we just talked football.
4:33 pm
and that started, as you rightly said, at barcelona, when he signed me. incredibly important person in my footballing life. and it's dreadfully sad. and i'll miss him a lot. form team spurs play on sunday, they managed him with a minute's applause before aston villa. but spurs lost 2-1, before aston villa. but spurs lost 2—1, villa go above them into fourth in the premier league. terrors and ollie watkins with their goals. 0llie watkins with their goals. everton have just kicked off in the first game since being deducted ten points for breaking premier league financial rules. they started against manchester united second from bottom on four points and after protests outside goodison park. manchester united have also compounded the problem by taking the lead very early on in the second minute in fact, by an extraordinary overhead kick. so 1—0 can manchester united lead goodison park. rangers

4:36 pm
names of those hostages that have been returned to israeli soil, they weight each day for the list and when they actually come back, it is a really emotional and special
4:37 pm
moment for those families. in fact, you might be able to see in hostages square in tel aviv, you can see people crowded around behind me around this long table. it is a shabbat table laid for the hostages and each one of those empty chairs represents one of the originally 240 or day. they are all women and
4:38 pm
each day. they are all women and minors under the age of 18, no men are being released under this exchange. also, nobody who has been convicted of murder. it is people who have been charged or in some cases suspected of offences ranging through from throwing stones through to attempted murder. ijust want through from throwing stones through to attempted murder. i just want to show you as well these pictures. i was telling you really want an emotional moment it is when we see,
4:39 pm
we*ve seen on both sides actually,
4:40 pm
4:41 pm
4:42 pm
emotional moment it is when we see, we*ve see yesterday, des actually, emotional moment it is when we see, we*ve see yesterday, it as actually, emotional moment it is when we see, we*ve see yesterday, it was tually, emotional moment it is when we see, we*ve see yesterday, it was obvious different. yesterday, it was obvious he delayed by so many hours, i think people were prepared for potentially another delayed today or something else to go wrong. it may have taken place likely later than originally intended. but it has taken place, that release. just as you said from the northern crossing, rather than from the southern crossing as we*ve seen before. see what the noises
4:44 pm
have to wait and see what the noises are like —— last minute. and then, whether things actually materialise. and again, today, we have seen the release notjust of and again, today, we have seen the release not just of the and again, today, we have seen the release notjust of the israeli hostages. but each day as well, there has been the release of foreign passport holders as well. that sits outside the parameters of the deal and it tends to be confirmed at the last minute. what sort of discussions are going on behind the scenes that enable that to happen? behind the scenes that enable that to ha en? , ., *, behind the scenes that enable that tohauen? , to happen? yes, that's right. it has been interesting _ to happen? yes, that's right. it has been interesting that _ to happen? yes, that's right. it has been interesting that every - to happen? yes, that's right. it has been interesting that every time i been interesting that every time we*ve had a number, sometimes ten or three orfour in we*ve had a number, sometimes ten or three or four in the last day or two who have been released alongside it, not israeli nationals. not technically part of that main deal. but clearly, much easier to facilitate that departure at the same time. really same time. it is a reminder really there are many other countries involved in this and to have been pressing and negotiating for the release of their hostages. and they will also have been working through
4:45 pm
release of their hostages. and they will also hi to been working through release of their hostages. and they will also hi to tryen working through release of their hostages. and they will also hi to try and orking through release of their hostages. and they will also hi to try and get ng through egyptians, to try and get those hostages released. the us has also been very heavily involved in trying to get its hostages released.
4:50 pm
been very heavily involved in trying to get its hostages into sed. been very heavily involved in trying to get its hostages into israel. a firing from lebanon into israel. a lot of that links to iran, it is thought. but it is worth saying that the fears in the initial days that quite quickly, the conflict could escalate into a wider regional conflict in which iran*s proxies,
4:51 pm
particularly hezbollah based in lebanon, might launch an all—out attack or launch a significant attack or launch a significant attack at least into israel to open if you like another front and then that could have raced really seriously escalating the war into a regional conflict, in which iran might have been involved and the us as well. that has not happened and i think that is significant. so while we have seen and we are continuing to see incidents of all kinds, they have been kept at a low level. as if iran and other sides want to keep up the pressure and the possibility, but do not necessarily want to escalated into that full—scale conflict, there are likely to have been warnings behind the scenes and conversations that if that was to happen, it could have huge repercussions for a number of countries. and as a result, i think some of the deterrence that had been put in place may have served to at least keep a lid on it and not necessarily stop any of those missile strikes and other actions. so it has meant that even though what we have seen will be

territory. the prisoners will be released from another gate around 400 metres from here and this gate is in the west bank. so once they are released, they are going to go to a municipality building, beitunia, and from there, they will leave to see their families. here is we see, there are no families at this moment. 0n the other side in the west bank, families have been waiting since the morning, waiting to see their loved ones being released. the israeli government, the israeli authorities like you mentioned said that the detainees who are released on israeli territory are not allowed to celebrate, they are not allowed any gatherings, not even allowed to hand in suites, according to a document that they have to sign with the israeli authorities. 0n the west bank, it is totally different. there are scenes ofjubilation and celebration for those who will be
4:55 pm
released. so it depends on where they are living. if they are living on the israeli custody or israeli territory, they are not allowed to celebrate. if they are in the west bank, there will be celebrations. bbc

it happens. stay with us here on bbc news. hello there. good evening. it was another cold and frosty start this morning for many, including here in chatsworth in derbyshire, as captured by one of our weather watchers. it will turn briefly milder for many overnight tonight. but generally, the theme as we head through this week is it will stay cold as we head into the start of december. more frosty nights, icy stretches, freezing fog patches and wintry showers, even possibly to lower levels at times. but through the day today, we*ve been dragging in some milder air across much of northern ireland, england and wales, further northwards and eastwards through the night, perhaps as far north as the central belt of scotland. and then, that rain will pull southwards as we head through the small hours of tomorrow morning.
4:57 pm
some wintry showers still piling into much of scotland, even perhaps to lower levels at times. still an air frost here and possibly still a touch of frost across northern areas of england, too, as that rain clears southwards, but a lot milder, frost—free for northern ireland, england and wales for the most part. now, we could possibly see some snow over the tops of the pennines over the top of the peak district as well. there*ll be some showers here again, wintry at times, perhaps a scattering of showers for the west. also some sunny spells, temperatures ranging between seven and 12 degrees celsius, still mild out towards
