snow across the hills, over cornwall and parts of devon and that's likely to continue for the next few hours bringing slippery conditions on the roads and pavements and we continue to see showers and eastern scotland, north—east england, rain and sleet towards the coast, but across inland areas, yes, we'll probably see more snow. overnight, where we've seen the showers by day, there is a risk of icy stretches on the roads and pavements overnight and as temperatures drop the showers are more likely to switch back over to snow so there could be some further localised accumulations. another really cold night, temperatures down to —6 through the central belt of scotland. in the rural areas, temperatures down to —8 or so, so a freezing cold start on the day on friday. there will be a lot of sunshine to come once we've lost any early mist and fog patches and the showers affecting eastern coastal areas, some will tend to switch back to rain or sleet as we go through the day as temperatures lift above freezing but it stays really cold particularly so across northern

england and scotland. on into the weekend, further changes in the weather. a week where the front is crossing the uk bringing the threat of some further wintry precipitation and perhaps areas that haven't seen so much over recent days, so we get the zone of showery rain pushing across northern ireland in towards parts of scotland, england and wales, probably with a mixture of a bit of rain, some localised sleet and snow particularly over hills, and snow particularly over hills, and temperatures continue to really struggle after a freezing cold start to the day. for sunday, again, a brighton most, a few mist and fog patches here and there, you will start to see milder weather pushing in from the south—west with a slow rise in temperatures. you might see a few flakes of snow on the leading edge of the weather system but a cold day, temperatures struggling to get above freezing in the north, eventually temperatures up to nine towards the south—west but really late in the day. for most, a freezing cold weekend.

welcome to sportsday. the questions around manchester united return, after they threw away a 2—0 lead, to draw 3—3 in turkey against galatasaray, leaving their hopes of reaching the champions league knockout stages in peril. united have conceded 33 goals in all competitions this season, the most in their opening 20 matches of any season since the 1962—63 season. 14 of those have been in the champions league — their most in a single group stage in the competition and the most by an english club afterfive games. we're joined now by manchester united fanjoe smith from the stretford paddock podcast. andre onana, of course, who was heralded as the saviour. he was heralded as the new man this summer, to take over from david de gea. but it's been a tumultous start for him, at fault last night. it's not really worked out for him. certainly the champions league has been a disaster, really. you look away at the premier league, and some

lot of his, you see these expected goals against compared to what the others teams have scored, and he ranks at the top of some of these lists. so there is still clearly a great keeper in there. you look at some of the mistakes he is making in champions league, these are uncharacteristically amateur mistakes. you would expect any half decent ten—year—olds at sunday league level to be stopping the one he letting yesterday. he is not defined his career as manchester united letting the ball go underneath and any time everyone has a shot. i think these are specific moments that have happened. as he softens and those nerves go away, and he grows into the role, we won't see those. but when you look at what he actually is as a goalkeeper that got him to where he is. we are still seeking a lot of that, it's just uncharacteristic mistakes. as long as they go back to being

alistair. one, when he became chancellor, they had reached the summit of uk politics, it was during the period of the financial crisis, and that was a time where the western financial system was being rocked to its foundations, when banks were collapsing virtually every day. the thing in the most as a chancellor in these times was to give a calm, authoritative appearance, and whatever else he was feeling behind—the—scenes, he always came across as being in charge and being calm and knowing what he was doing. that was absolutely essential to that moment of crisis. the moment when the test came, alistair passed with flying colours. you when the test came, alistair passed with flying colours.— with flying colours. you are debating — with flying colours. you are debating opposite - with flying colours. you are debating opposite him - with flying colours. you are debating opposite him in i with flying colours. you are i debating opposite him in their referendum for scottish independence campaign. referendum for scottish independence camaiun. ~ ., referendum for scottish independence camaiun.~ . referendum for scottish independence camaiun. . ., ~ campaign. what was that like? if i remember correctly, _ campaign. what was that like? if i remember correctly, the - campaign. what was that like? if i remember correctly, the bbc - campaign. what was that like? if i . remember correctly, the bbc debate, the second debate, was the most watched political programme of all time. certainly in scotland, and it
