olly stone is in line for his fourth test cap with england, remarkably five years since his international debut. he replaces the injured mark wood for the second test against sri lanka on friday. our sports correspondent joe wilson is at lords. well, here at lords this week, a remarkable story of sporting perseverance. at the age of 30, ollie stone is about to play his fourth test match, pulling at 45 miles an hour is the focus of his entire life. whether it's stress fracture, acl, his body is broken down. many players years ago, i'm sure would have given of the dream of playing test match cricket. but here he is. it's never been in my eyes to give that up and if my body then gave up on me, i may have to step away but thankfully, so far i've found a way and i can be back out there in an england shirt. screws in your vertebrae, wasn't it? there are two, one in l3 and one in l4. just to stop it cracking again.

cyclist is aiming to add to her stunning silverware set in paris. but she also wants something far more important than some bling around her neck, asjoe lynskey explains. paris 2024, for dame sarah storey, the next remarkable chapter. at 46 years old, this will be her ninth paralympics. a journey that started in 1992 has already led to history. across two sports and more than 30 years, the three goals that she won in tokyo made it 17 in all. the most ever won by a british paralympic. but still there was the drive for at least one more cycle and again close to home with herfamily there to see it. the chance to have a normal games, have games with spectators, just being able to experience the atmosphere again was too good to turn down and of course, charlie,

who has never been to games, he won't quite be seven when we get to paris, so for him, both him and louise, they will hopefully remember these games because louise was only three when we went and she has only fleeting memories and she is not sure those memories are from looking at photographs are from actually being there. when you remind yourself that you hold these records and this will be her ninth parliament games, how do you feel when you reflect on your achievements like that? i think, the number nine is the thing that's kind of most exciting, it's not something i ever had a dream about. i remember as a young athlete calculating that i might not be too old if i did eight games, but never ever thought nine would be a possibility and i think is testament to the support i've had. are you going into it thinking it could be her last one? i've never been to any games thinking it was my last one, ijust go into it focusing on what the job is. the sort of decisions come later. for me, it's about having no distractions and focusing on absolutely everything.

and then sit back and putting my feet up and making some decisions about what next year looks like. for storey, she goes in the road race and time trial, but won't compete in the velodrome. it would take her up to 19 overall, third most won by a pair athlete at the summer games, but records for storey aren't the main motivation. two years ago, she broke her ribs in a crash. just to get to paris has been a team effort. my family, first and foremost, have been out to pick me up from the various scrapes i got myself into over the years and put me back together and help we believe in myself again. yeah, i feel really fortunate to still be contending and hopefully it inspires other people to realise that you don't have to worry about age sometimes, you canjust try and follow a dream you

breeze coming in. just a few showers for scotland. here's a look at the end of the week. high pressure is building off the atlantic. this azores high. showers are kept at bay across france, far away. so it's a day of light winds and sunny spells. really a very pleasant day. and for some of us, a perfect summer's day. neither too hot and not particularly cool either. and the temperatures will be around the high teens across western areas, maybe nudging up to 2a in london for the end of the week. so that's friday. how about the weekend? well, the high pressure is still with us weather fronts are trying to push in, but it's a substantial high so it's keeping things dry. maybe the weather going downhill a little bit with a few showers towards the south and towards the west as we head into next week. so here's the outlook, then. friday and the weekend looking pretty decent for many of us, with spells of sunshine looking quite warm too. and then into september, it does look as though we could catch 1 or 2 showers. that's it for me. bye— bye.
