hello, i'm sarah mulkerrins at the bbc sport centre. we'll start with the sad news from the world of football that 1990 world cup hero salvatore *toto* schillaci has died at the age of 59. the italian scored six goals to win the golden boot at the world cup. italy lost in the semi—finals on home soil, but schillaci was also awarded the golden ball as the best player and gained hero status. he was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2022. domestically, schillaci helped juventus to claim the coppa italia and uefa cup in 1990 before winning the latter trophy again four years later with inter milan. serie a described him as "a champion who lit up the magical nights of the 1990 world cup in italy".

and you see, i will ask you to play 65 games and play for your country this season, you will say no. your body cannot withstand that. i'm sure that, from what i know, people are trying to look at welfare. it's notjust the money men at the top or the tv channels saying, "we don't care, get on that pitch and entertain us," so there's plenty more things going on in the background. manchester city against inter milan is one of six matches kicking—off later. elsewhere, bologna make their champions league debut at home to shakhtar donetsk. slovan bratislava also play in the champions league for the first time at celtic. while spanish side girona's first european match in the club's history is at french giants paris saint—germain. roma have sacked manager daniele de rossi just four games into the new serie a season. de rossi's appointment in january initially led to an upturn in fortunes, with roma climbing the table to qualify for the europa league. but this season they've failed to win and sit
