sector services suspended. the king and queen have arrived in a rain—soaked australia ahead of a six—day visit to the country. the couple will spend their first full day of the scaled—back tour resting as the king continues his recovery from cancer. a warning — this report from our senior royal correspondent daniela relph contains flashing images. well, the weather has slightly improved since the arrival of the king and queen last night and torrential rain here in sydney. we watched the queen mother cautiously and tentatively walking down those steps of the aircraft in some pretty terrible weather. it's an unusual start to this royal tour because it begins with a day off, and that's really unusual — royal tours usually kick in really quickly once members of the royal family are on the ground in the country they are visiting but it isn't the case this time. there is a day off built—in

this is the gauntlet that toitoise —— pee—wee has likely to survive, this video shows how rubbish is sorted by conveyor belt and finally by hand and it's only at this point that pee—wee was spotted. i expect to find all kinds of things but not a tortoise. he has been dropped by the back of a lorry, picked up by a shovel, put into a hopper and onto a line where basically it is a glass smasher and shaker and then onto a picking line where he was picked up yesterday. i thought he was dead but look at him. i took him home first and mum wife gave him a bath, gave him a scrub with a toothbrush and we fed him and brought him straight in. pee—wee is now enjoying some much—needed r and r at the vets while they try to work out how on earth he ended up in the bin. kate sweeting reporting. of course, we hope pee—wee is not
