company near the capital ankara. this footage appears to capture the moment of the attack. the building at the back of the shot is a turkish aerospace industries building. in the footage, you can hear several gunshots followed by an explosion. turkey's interior minister called the incident "a terrorist attack" and said two of the attackers had been killed. and these are the live pictures outside the facility. turkish aerospace industries is a state owned arms and aerospace technology company. turkey's president erdogan has been speaking in the last few minutes, and his given this response to the attack: translation: | thank. you for your condolences. we have four martyrs and 14 injured. i condemn this heinous terrorist attack and wish god's mercy to our martyrs.

let's speak to yusuf alabarda in ankara. he is a security and d fense analyst. thank you for being with us. what do you make of the information that we have got so far? we do not know who is responsible as yet.- far? we do not know who is responsible as yet. from my perspective. _ responsible as yet. from my perspective. no _ responsible as yet. from my perspective, no one - responsible as yet. from my perspective, no one has - responsible as yet. from my i perspective, no one has owned the terrorist attack it, but probably it is pkk terrorist organisation or some affiliated groups such as marxist — and linen groups acting together with the pkk terrorist organisation. without doubt they will claim responsibility in the next coming hours because we are not experiencing such kind for the first time. one year ago, just across the turkish parliament, the minister of the interior has been attacked, but the security

guard neutralised to terrorists in the same position, backpacks full of explosives, ready for a suicide bombing that was prevented. that time it was a shift in time in the industrial complex, which is home to more than 15,000 workers, so it was a rush hour, and one of them has exploded themselves, and taken advantage of that chaos, one of them reached inside the industrial complex and so far a couple of news are underlined that there are hostages inside the industrial complex. . that is what i can say so far about the terrorist attacks, but the timing is very important because president ertl one, as you stated in your news is in
5:04 pm
russia at the meeting of brics, an important turning point in the history of the world order established after world war ii. so also is the message from my point of perspective to president erdogan that turkey cannot be part of the breach, and my second point is that the biggest area industrial complex of the turkish military industry has been taken as a target because the turkish armed forces, fighting against terrorism, especially in the last ten years, have had a successful point because that complex has produced successful arm and aerial vehicles and lots of military equipment for the turkish armed forces. figs the turkish armed forces. as ou said the turkish armed forces. as you said at the start, we don't know who is responsible for these attacks as yet, have to be careful with speculation but
5:05 pm
tell us more about this industrial complex and who it sells and supplies arms too, is it only to the turkish military or other countries? it it only to the turkish military or other countries?— it only to the turkish military or other countries? it does not only supply _ or other countries? it does not only sopply highly _ or other countries? it does not only supply highly supply -- i only supply highly supply —— specialised weapons for turkish armed forces but other armed forces which the turkish government gives licence for importing them. it's an important complex and also producing the first indigenous turkish fighterjet and producing the first indigenous turkish fighter jet and also some helicopters. so so very important facility, and those high—tech weapons might be used fighting against terrorism inside the turkish armed forces, fighting not on inside turkey but iraq and syria. in terms of the brics connection,
5:06 pm
as you said president erdogan is currently in russia for the brics summit hosted by putin, again stressing we do not know the motive or who is behind the attack, why do you think there could be a brics connection? because we have experienced fighting against terrorism for more than a0 years, whenever the turkish republic wants to act opposite to the wishes of the vast, such kind of attacks, it has become inside turkey for many times, even turkey signing deals with the soviet union in times, there have been military coup attempts inside turkey a, so looking at that i can say it's a clear signal to turkey not to act together with china and russia. not to act together with china and russia-— not to act together with china and russia. ., ~ , ., ., , and russia. thank you for being with us. with me is our correspondent, emre temel.
5:07 pm
can you give us your thoughts on the context and what we heard from our previous guest? if you want updates, a turkish interior minister said some people are in severe condition, their situation is serious, and he has not confirmed the reports about hostage being taken inside the compound he has not confirmed this, and as you said no group has claimed responsibility onto know. in the past, pkk, it islamic state and leftist elements carried out such attacks in turkey but we have not witnessed such an attack for a long time. with today's attack, it brought back dark members to the turkish people, especially 2015. just a reminder, injune 2015, reminder, in june 2015, president reminder, injune 2015, president erdogan party lost parliament for the majority first time since coming to power and into the other being, summer was full of bomb attacks and peace process with the
5:08 pm
kurdish opponents and the pkk collapsed and president erdogan party regains its majority in november of the same year. for those who _ november of the same year. for those who have not been following the details of turkish politics, tell us a bit about president or the gun party and who the pkk are, because as you said we used to mention that group a lot but we have not discovered this dispute for some time. the pkk, kurdistan workers _ dispute for some time. the pkk, kurdistan workers berkeley -- i kurdistan workers berkeley —— party, has been fighting for rights for the kurdish minority, and it turned into an armed struggle in 198a. one leader was captured and arrested in 1999 and has been in the high—security prison since then. it is not clear what pkk or president erdogan think of a peace process with each other, but there are signs
5:09 pm
of it, and the leader of the government allied nation, is giving the signal that he is supporting such a process, and yesterday he spoke at turkish parliament and for the first time he said the prisoner should be released, he cannot speak at the turkish parliament, and speak for kurdish people rights, and to denounce the pkk. we have not heard anything from the pkk regarding the report surely this stance, and the turkish government officials are not making any statements. fiur making any statements. our revious making any statements. our previous guest _ making any statements. our previous guest made linkage with brics, is there any consideration of that political motivation for that anywhere else or within the wider troubles of the middle east? i respect your guests views but
5:10 pm
these are his personal views. obviously, when the attack happened, president erdogan had meeting with russian president president putin, and just after the meeting, president putin condemned the attack and nowhere getting condemnations from all around the world, just be going —— just before going to air, the united states —— united nations secretary—general and nato secretary—general and nato secretary—general both condemned the attack. we secretary-general both condemned the attack. we will leave it there _ condemned the attack. we will leave it there for _ condemned the attack. we will leave it there for now, - condemned the attack. we will leave it there for now, emre i leave it there for now, emre temel, thank you for being with us. sir keir starmer has insisted his relationship with donald trump isn't in jeopardy after his presidential campaign team filed a legal complaint against the labour party, accusing it of *blatantly interfering' in the american election. trump's team pointed to a now deleted social media post, that offered accommodation to some labour members travelling to the us to campaign for mr trump's rival kamala harris. the prime minister says that labour activists were volunteering in their own time.
5:11 pm
our political correspondent tom symonds has the latest. wanted, labour activists to head to america to campaign for kamala. it was posted by labour's head of operations on linkedin and has since been deleted. donald j trump! his team is furious the british are coming to support his rival. his lawyers have now sent this legal letter to the us federal election commission demanding an immediate investigation. where the linkedin post says there are ten spots to offer, the letter says that suggests labour is paying something, making it illegal foreign national contributions. this trump supporter agrees. the advertisement didn't say you would be going i in your own free time, didn't say you had to i pay your own airfare| which at the moment are very, very expensive. said you are going to have free accommodation. - if you look at the wording i
5:12 pm
of that advert, there is little doubt that it is againstl american electoral law. but labour says there have always been foreign volunteers in us elections, and this one is no different. the defence ministerjohn healey signing a new agreement with his german counterpart took time out to see the party organiser looking for recruits wasn't doing it officially. any labour supporters over in the us, being part of the democratic election campaign, are there as individuals and there in their own time, they are there at their own expense, and if they have accommodation out there that will also be provided by volunteers. anyone who loves politics might like to be part of this knife edge uselection. activists do it simply because they love politics and particularly american politics and just being close to a campaign and being part of the campaign can be good fun.
5:13 pm
the us election regulator has not yet responded to trump's complaint, and this is a story playing much bigger here than america. the prime minister has told reporters this will not make it harder to handle a new president trump. "we had dinner last month," he said, "and established a good relationship". let's speak to our correspondent helena humphry who's in milton in the key battleground state of georgia. surrounded by pumpkins, looking gorgeous where you are, and just first of all on the liberal party story, is it being talked about at all where you are? i being talked about at all where ou are? ., ., _ you are? i have to say it, asked a _ you are? i have to say it, asked a few _ you are? i have to say it, asked a few people - you are? i have to say it, | asked a few people about you are? i have to say it, i asked a few people about it, not something that is getting recognition here in suburban, rural georgia, but watching the morning news programmes here in the united states, from washington, dc at least, it was
5:14 pm
noteworthy there has been comment, but certainly this is a political elite level as opposed to what voters are really concerned about, and i've spoken to those voters here in georgia about what is on their mind. our 2 million people have already cost their votes in early voting in the state, that is over one quarter of the population so far. the things they are worried about, speaking to people at this pumping patch, number one is the economy, people are worried about making ends meet at the end of the month, that is something families of insane, and also speak to someone outside the suburbs of atlanta, saying they are running a diner and it essentiallyjust for costs of basic goods like bacon eggs and so on have gone up so much it is difficult running her business. i asked about what about the bite and information reduction act and if it helped them, they said for them donald trump and the economy under donald trump was beneficial and as such they are casting their vote that way. if
5:15 pm
you go to some other areas like just outside the city, where you have more diverse populations, one of the big issues everyone is talking about is the abortion ban, the six week abortion ban on the books here, particularly because there has been this sad story here of two georgia women, black women, who died after not being able to get the pregnancy related, abortion related care they needed, to deaths which have been ruled as preventable and as such they say they are voting for harris, i know sweetheart grandfather here all taking to his grandchildren to the pumpkin patch, and he told me his concerns.— patch, and he told me his concerns. ~ . ~ ., concerns. what i like about him he is not a _ concerns. what i like about him he is not a liberal— concerns. what i like about him he is not a liberal will— concerns. what i like about him he is not a liberal will stop. - he is not a liberal will stop. and — he is not a liberal will stop. and i— he is not a liberal will stop. and i like _ he is not a liberal will stop. and i like the policies from his first _ and i like the policies from his first term. his first term, even — 1523 00:15:57,121 --> 00:15:57
