f1's championship battle reaches boiling point at the mexico city grand prix. and double delight for draper — the british number one wins the biggest title of his career and moves into the world's top 15. hi there. we'll start with the premier league. a late equaliser from mo salah earned liverpool a 2—all draw with arsenal at the emirates stadium. mikel arteta's side twice had the lead, but both times, were pegged back, so both teams had to settle for a point in north london. the result means manchester city end the weekend on top of the table, with liverpool and arsenal in second and third place, respectively. it's pleasing to see that we can come back

into the game two times, especially with one day left to recover, having an away leg in europe against leipzig, and then to be maybe stronger in the second half than the first half, that is what pleases me. in the end, you go here also to win, but maybe a draw was, for us, especially after the first half, a result we can take with us to next week. the team played so well. we were dominant. we were very determined, very clear what we have to attack. really aggressive, after losing the ball. we played in the right areas. we created some big, big chances. but, yeah, um, on those games, you have to be more clinical. the way we conceded the second—half goal is, we are open in transition to finish an action. ten seconds later, you concede a goal in open spaces, against this team, you cannot do that if you want to win the game. well, also on sunday, west ham beat manchester united 2—1 at the london stadium to increase the pressure on the

united boss, erik ten hag. that's nowjust the one win in eight matches in all competitions. but it was a much—needed win forjulen lopetegui's side, who had to rely on a controversial injury—time penalty, converted byjarrod bowen, to give the west ham side all three points. the hosts had gone ahead through crysencio summerville, before casemiro equalised for united in the 81st minute. that is the third time that we feel really injustice in this season, and it has a big impact on our team and on our team scores and the way you are in the ranking. so, yeah, this is not right. but i can do nothing with the frustration. we don't collect points, and that is what we have to do. and so, yeah, we have to look in the mirror. we don't score from a really good game, from our sides, creating loads of chances, concede no chances. but then, of course, also, the second frustration is when you lose in this way. yeah, that is...gives
3:48 am
a bad feeling. the players say that this is penalty, and the var ask the referee, and the referee say that it is penalty. so i am sure that they are right, but i don't know. . don-t... — idon't see the penalty action. but i prefer to highlight that after they draw the match, we keep this moment, the positive...this energy to be positive, to be able to think and to win the match, and i preferto keep with this kind of energy. well, crystal palace finally have their first league win of the season, beating tottenham hotspur i—nil at selhurst park. jean—philippe mateta broke the deadlockjust after the half—hour mark, for his third goal of the season. after the match, the spurs boss, ange postecoglou, cut a rather frustrated figure. at the end, they went| over to the away fans. there seemed a bit - of disgruntlement from the supporters about. the performance today. can you understand that?
3:49 am
i'd be very surprised if they were happy, mate, yeah. because you're not happy, obviously. i well, why would i be happy? is there...is there a question there? why would i be happy about today, or our supporters? so our supporters are unhappy, i'm unhappy, the players are unhappy. i think that's a fair assessment. only because i asked - you if your level dropped below what you expected, and you didn't _ necessarily think that l was the problem, so... no, but i identified another problem, which was that we didn't battle today like they did. so, i think if you're suggesting that our fans somehow weren't happy with today, then i think that's a fair assessment. uh, i'm not happy, the players aren't happy. we got the reward with an excellent goal, very high press, winning the ball in their box and then scoring an amazing goal. and also, at the end, we always try to be active. yes, there were some situations, but tottenham is really a great team. but we always were playing forward, creating chances, creating situations, so i'm really proud of how the team performed today. and there's one more result from the english top flight to tell you about. chelsea beat newcastle 2—1 at stamford bridge. nicolas jackson and

cole palmer on the scoresheet for the home side. napoli have made the early running in italy's serie a, but the two clubs just behind them — inter milan and juventus — played out a thrilling a—all draw at the san siro. inter probably thought they had done enough to win when they went 4—2 up early in the second half. dutch defender denzel dumfries with their fourth goal. but 19—year—old kenan yildiz gotjuve back on level terms, after coming on as a sub withjust under half an hour to go, the turkey international scoring twice. the points, therefore, were shared. to tennis, and the british number one, jack draper, has won his first atp 500 title, after beating karen khachanov in the final of the vienna open. it looked like draper was going to have a comfortable victory, after winning the first set against his russian opponent 6—4, and he then led 4—love at the start of the second set. khachanov, though, responded, winning the next five games in a row, before draper came back to take the final set 7—5 and to win the biggest trophy

of his career so far. and that title win also moves draper up to a career—high ranking of world number 15. sometimes, in tennis, you believe in yourself as a player, you believe in the work that you're doing, but until you actually do it, you don't really have that belief that you can really do it consistently. and i suppose, um, you know, with good results and with, um, confidence, you know, that goes such a long way. and so, um, hopefully, ican keep on building and becoming a better tennis player. and with that, hopefully, my results continue to get better as well. and the top—seeded qinwen zheng won the pan pacific open in tokyo, and she clinched her place at the wta's season—ending finals, which are next month. the olympic champion served up 16 aces, as she beat america's sofia kenin 7—6, 6—3.
3:52 am
it is the world number seven*s third title of the year and first title on hardcourt this season. she will be part of the wta finals, which begin in riyadh next weekend, for the first time. all the players there was really tough to beat. since the first match, you need to be focussed. it's not like usual tournament. you are seeded. so, you know, the first two rounds, you still can get into the match rhythm. so, you know, it's not easy, and it's not the first time for me to play in the wta final. i was so motivated. but let's see what's going to happen. i also don't want to have too much pressure, carlos sainz has won an eventful formula one grand prix in mexico city. red bull's drivers* championship leader max verstappen was twice punished for his driving against title rival lando norris, and he finished in sixth place. mclaren*s norris was second, ahead of ferrari's charles leclerc, in third. but it was sainz who finished on top of the podium to make it three ferrari wins

in the past five races. the defending motogp champion francesco bagnaia has won the thailand grand prix, to cutjorge martin's championship lead to 17 points, with two races of that season still to go. bagnaia slipped from pole position to third place at the start, but regained the lead when he took martin on lap five. bagnaia then battled for first place with the six—time champion marc marquez, until the spaniard slid off his bike in wet conditions. and from there, bagnaia held off martin to take the chequered flag by nearly three seconds. marquez himself remounted his bike and finished in 12th place. the la dodgers took control of baseball's world series against the new york yankees. they've got a 2—0... they're 2—0 up in the best—of—seven tie to determine the mlb champions. japanese pitcher yoshinobu yamamoto impressed for the dodgers, pitching into the seventh inning, withjuan soto's homer the only hit he allowed.
3:54 am
teoscar hernandez and freddie freeman both helped put the dodgers out in front, eventually winning 4—2. well, the series now moves to new york, with game three at yankee stadium on monday evening. to golf, and byeong an beat fellow south korean tom kim in a play—off to win the genesis championship in incheon. both finished on 17 under par, but kim got himself into trouble on the first extra hole and could only make a bogey. an had no such trouble and held his first birdie putt for victory. it's his first win on the dp world tour in nine years. and on the pga tour, colombia's nicolas echevarria held off two—time major championjustin thomas to win the zozo championship injapan. he shot a final round of 67 to finish on 20 under par, beating thomas and fellow american max greyserman by just one shot. well, not a name i mention very often, but the award—winning actor colin farrell showed off his stamina

on sunday, as he ran the dublin city marathon. he didn't finish the race alone, though. with four kilometres to go, farrell picked up his friend emma fogarty, who has a rare genetic skin condition which causes severe blistering and open wounds. the pair have raised nearly £600,000 for the skin condition charity debra. excellent work by both of them. and you can get all of the sports news at bbc sport, @bbcsport website. but from the team here, for now, that is it from us. goodbye. hello. there was quite a bit of sunshine across england and wales on sunday, but it was shoeburyness in essex that was the sunniest spot, managing 8.5 hours of sunshine, with those sunny skies extended up the eastern coast of england here in robin hood's bay looking absolutely glorious. further west, we had cloud thicken and outbreaks of rain
3:56 am
moved into northern ireland, west scotland and the isle of man, which was the wettest place in the country. a lot of cloud streaming across the atlantic at the moment. that is all coming our way on these west—to—southwesterly winds, dragging in some pretty mild air, but bringing us weather fronts as well. and so, at the moment, we do have outbreaks of rain pushing eastwards across the uk. one or two heavy bursts mixed in with that and a lot of low clouds. there will be some mist and fog patches around our western coast and up over the high ground too. these are the kind of temperatures starting off monday morning — ii to 14 degrees for most. it is going to be a mild monday, but a cloudy and damp start to the day. there will be extensive outbreaks of rain and drizzle initially. now, some of that rain and drizzle will tend to ease off in scotland and northern ireland through the afternoon, but it will stay mainly cloudy. still a few patches of drizzle across england and wales, and probably still quite murky for wales and western england, around the hills and the coast. our temperatures on the mild side, 15 to 16 degrees. a bit cooler in lerwick, but at least here, you might actually get
3:57 am
to see some sunshine. heading into tuesday, we have the remnants of these weather fronts lying across the uk, so there'll be probably some mist and fog patches to start the day. a lot of cloud around. still a few patches of drizzle for england and wales. you might well see a few breaks in the cloud, and a bit of sunshine coming through at times, but very much hit—and—miss in nature. temperatures around 15 to 17 celsius for most of us. now, high pressure then builds in for the middle part of the week, wednesday and thursday, but there's probably still going to be quite a bit of cloud trapped underneath this. now, with lighter winds, you're more likely to see mist and fog patches to start the day on wednesday and some of that could be very slow to clear, perhaps hanging around even into the early part of the afternoon. it is, however, a mostly dry day, and there could well be some sunny spells developing by the time we get to the afternoon. it's still mild, with temperatures around 15 or 16 celsius. the high pressure stays with us really through the rest of this week, but still bringing rather cloudy weather. perhaps the weather turning gradually a bit brighter into the weekend, and a bit cooler across northern areas.
