this was part one of what could be a very short audition for ruud van nistelrooy, looking to get that permanent managersjob but it looks like ruben amorim will be coming in very soon. so anytime that van nistelrooy gets in the dugout, we know he's going to make the most of. and you can see that tonight, he was very animated for all five goals they scored, including a smile almost of disbelief when casemiro scored a brilliant opener from long—range. the brazilian ended up with two goals tonight. bruno fernandes got two as well and alejandro garnacho got the other one. united 5—2 winners over leicester city. this looked like the performance of freedom after so many nights where it felt like the result would decide previous manager's future. and van nistelrooy did reference some of the bad luck that erik ten hag has been getting in the last few weeks. he said after the match, van nistelrooy, that they had just as many chances tonight as they have done against fenerbahce, west ham and against crystal palace that they haven't taken. tonight, he said theyjust got

that luck in front of goal. where are we at now because we understand that ruud van nistelrooy can carry out his media duties ahead of the chelsea game, back in the league at the weekend so he may well still be in charge on the weekend? yeah, there is no solid updates from manchester united but as you say, there are clues that ruud van nistelrooy will take the press conference on thursday ahead of the united's next premier league game on sunday against chelsea. that may suggest that van nistelrooy will be in charge for that match. and ruben amorim's sporting team, they're in action on friday in the portuguese league so, news need to happen fast if they get in the dugout, it's looking likely to be van nistelrooy at the moment. united fans will certainly be happy because manchester city — they're out?

of a rumble. i had to beat tyson's behind to claim to be the king of thejungle. for this fight, i wrestled with alligators, i tussled with the whale, i handcuffed lightning and put thunder injail, you know i'm bad. the world knew muhammad ali, this fight ensured that. but his opponent, george foreman, arrived as the big favourite. younger, stronger, the undefeated world champion. through the buildup, ali embraced the occasion, celebrating his identity and history, proudly in africa. thrilling the crowd and the president. zaire, as the country was then known, was run by mobutu sese seko. the people were poor, political opposition violently suppressed but the boxes were famous. the president ensured his image would be seen when the world watched. and now you can see ali trying to work up the crowd on his side. ali created a spectacle. he taunted foreman before the first round, tormented him throughout. ali used the ropes, took brutal punches, exhausted foreman before winning to global astonishment. the fight was timed for american audiences.

of debuts over the next few weeks and yeah, i think it's a really exciting thing to english cricket, we got some talent coming through and it's about time we sort of threw them into the deep end and see what they are all about. new zealand spinner ajaz patel has been talking about returning to his birthplace mumbai where the kiwis will look to complete a clean sweep in the test series against india. it's also where he took all 10 wickets in an innings against against india three years ago, one of only three bowlers to have done that in the history of test cricket. coming to india, we know how tough a task it is to win against india at home, let alone win a series. so, to be able to do that, has been very, very special. but it's certainly taken the whole team effort to be able to do that and we played some very, very good cricket of the last couple of weeks and i guess moving forward into this game, it's important that we start again and really forget about what's gone behind us. lots of great cricket

to look forward to over the next few days. you can get all the latest sports news at from the bbc sport app, orfrom our website — that's bbc.com/sport. but from me, olly foster, and the rest of the team at the bbc sport centre, goodbye. hello there. on the whole, wednesday was a cloudy day for most of us, but there were a favoured few spots where we saw some sunshine. aberdeenshire, one of them, and also powis in wales, where we saw some lovely sunshine — temperatures peaked at 17 celsius. but for thursday, it's going to be another cloudy day. quite a murky start as well, but we keep that mild theme to close out the month of october. and that is because high pressure stays with us, and the winds very light indeed across england and wales, more isobars to the north, stronger winds in scotland, and this weather front running across the top. that will introduce a little bit more in the way of rain as we go through the day across the northern isles. a windy scenario here — gusts, perhaps close to 50 miles an hour.
4:56 am
more in the way of cloud across the far northwest, but we will be chasing cloud amounts around. if you get some sunshine, temperatures will respond, and through the afternoon, we're likely to see highs generally of around 15 or 16 celsius once again. now, that means that for halloween, evening it looks as though, particularly across england and wales, the spooky mist and fog set to return — that wind, keeping the mist and the murk at bay across the far north of scotland. and for diwali, for the fireworks — well, hopefully the cloud won't spoil proceedings too much. now, the higher pressure will start to drift away and allow this frontal system to sink a little bit further south. so, there will be outbreaks of rain pushing into the far north of scotland first thing on friday morning. with the cloud around, many areas staying into double digits — again, another grey story, but that weather front will continue to drift its way slowly southwards behind it, the wind direction changing to a northerly introducing cleaner, fresher conditions so cooler, but there will be more in the way of sunshine coming through. 7—10 degrees here, but further south, once again, temperatures peaking into the mid—teens.
4:57 am
that cooler air is not set to last. high pressure on the move again. it's moving over to the near continent, and that allows a subtle change in wind direction to more of a southeasterly. but that subtle change could bring quite a dramatic change to the forecast. there's the potential for a little more in the way of sunshine coming through across england and wales sunday into monday. looking ahead, that quiet theme continues, but once again, we have to watch out for mist and fog.
