president and donald trump. here is the present campaigning in green bay, wisconsin after an early rally in north carolina. let's get more from nick bryant, former bbc us correspondent who published a book this year on the political polarisation of us called the forever war, america's and ending conflict with itself. clearly donald trump has an advantage on the paramount issue for american voters which issue for american voters which is the economy. a lot of nostalgia for the trump economy and people think you will do a betterjob of running it and another issue which favours him is immigration and that has been a problematic issue for the blinded administration and a problem for kamala harris but she has a couple of issues that help her. one of them is abortion and reproductive rights, the anger amongst female voters about the overturning of roe against wade by the supreme court in 2022 and then there is the democracy question which goes to donald trump across character, to his

authoritarian tendencies and his fascistic tendencies which has been part of kamala harris's closing arguments, her decision of course to deliver that big speech on the national mall, the very spot where donald trump and urged his supporters to verge on the us capitol on january supporters to verge on the us capitol onjanuary the six. i was speaking to some young voters in north carolina who expressed their very real fear that there could be violence following election day. how real do you think that is? filth. real do you think that is? oh, look, real do you think that is? oh, look. it is _ real do you think that is? oh, look. it is a — real do you think that is? oi, look, it is a combustible combination. a climactic collection and a close election, and as we saw in 2020, donald trump did not abide by the result of that election. even when he won in 2016 he complained. he won the electoral college were not the nationwide vote as hillary clinton got 3 million more but donald trump falsely claimed and spaciously that 5 million

of the votes were illegally cast, so even when he gets the result, even when he won, he defamed democracy and that is a worry, some of these states where the result might not be known for a few days become flashpoints and become violent flashpoints. political violence has been a recurring theme of american history right from the beginning and we have seen this twice in this campaign with the assassination attempts on donald trump and there is this fear that as the votes are counted, and some of them have disputed results, there could be a flashpoint.— disputed results, there could be a flashpoint. ofcom has by gb news £100,000 _ be a flashpoint. ofcom has by gb news £100,000 for- be a flashpoint. ofcom has by i gb news £100,000 for breaking impartiality rules with a programme of each of the former prime minister rishi sunak. the media watchdog said mr sunak was given an uncontested platform to promote policies when he appeared on the channel before the general election and gb news said the ruling was unlawful and will challenge it in the courts. alleged bribes

their rescuers operating, but members of the military, hundreds of soldiers deployed across valencia. the other piece of news is the forecast is not good and there is more rain forecast, not nearly as heavy as what we have seen but nonetheless more rain is forecast to fall there. more on what is happening in valencia throughout the day on bbc news but for now it is time for the weather where you are with dan. it's a another mild day for us today. many places still cloudy, there is some sunshine and that really makes a difference to how the weather feels. seeing some sunshine earlier on here in the south—west, some breaks to the east of the pennines as well. and with stronger winds in scotland bringing mild air from the atlantic, temperatures could reach 17 in the north east of the country. nowhere will be cold. if you are heading out trick ortreating, diwali, some fog patches may reform but not in the north—west. here we have the stronger winds — we may find rain trickling down from the north.

this band of rain coming into northern scotland. ahead of that, still a lot of cloud around. where we have the breaks in the south across england and wales we may well find that mist and fog reforming quickly in the night as well, leaving it gloomy overnight. minimum temperatures around seven degrees or so. we have got that rain coming into northern scotland on that weather front, but that will weaken as it rinses southwards, into the area of high pressure that is keeping it quiet, and generally grey and cloudy, i think, for friday. this rain, heavier in the morning in northern scotland, becomes lighter as it heads into the southern parts of the country. to the south, a lot of low cloud, misty, murky weather, something brighter with sunshine to the east of the pennines, and following the rain in northern scotland, it could get brighter here. temperatures will be lower but temperatures again like today, 14 or 15. that colder air in scotland shouldn't last long. the coldest of the air will get pushed into northern and eastern parts of europe,

and high pressure is going to build back in across the uk, leaving us with a lot of cloud. precious little sunshine, i suspect, on saturday. northern scotland may fare better because though there is a breeze, it will feel milder here as well, but even though there is a lot of cloud around, we still have temperatures of 14 or 15 degrees to start the weekend. for the second half of the weekend, we will find the centre of the high pressure slipping more into central europe. that will bring with it a southerly or south—easterly breeze. that should bring drier air on sunday, and hopefully we will see a bit more sunshine, particularly across england and wales. but we start next week with some low cloud and the mornings could be misty and murky.
