a fundamental principle of american democracy is that when we lose an election, we accept the results. that principle, as much as any other, distinguishes democracy from monarchy or tyranny, and anyone who seeks the public trust must honour it. at the same time, in our nation, we owe loyalty not to a president or a party, but to the constitution of the united states. the party—like atmosphere from tuesday vanished. now, people unable to hide their disappointment. as the first female vice president, kamala harris has shattered glass ceilings. but one of the last remaining bastions of male privilege in america, the white house, remains intact. her history—making run for the white house coming to a crushing end. ms harris left consoling

we already have some indications because as you were saying there, for some of donald trump's loyalists it hasn't turned out well for them, serving with him, and then ending up serving prison sentences for example. some of those loyalists we know, very clear, big backers on the campaign trail, the likes of elon musk, the billionaire owner of x and tesla ad space x and already he has featured in and already he has featured in a photo which was tweeted out by tiffany trump, one of donald trump as my daughters, in a family photograph and donald trump said on the campaign trail he could have a role in clearing up government waste although we answer what that means at this stage. another name that has been mentioned, rfkjunior, the former rfk junior, the former presidential candidate rfkjunior, the former presidential candidate who went on to back donald trump. donald trump has said he could have a key role in a health agency. if you look at some of his past comments when it comes to health, he has spread some conspiracy theories. he is a

see the peaceful transfer of power in a democracy. perhaps joe biden will refer to that. i think democrats are keen to make that point particularly of course after donald trump back in 2020 refused to concede that he had lost that election to joe biden. i think it will be a difficult moment for the outgoing president. joe biden wanted to run in this election, reluctantly pulled out after a disastrous debate performance. now he faces the prospect of handing over power to a republican. he himself is a democrat. a republican who could really start to demolish or change or untangle some of joe biden*s legacy, whether thatis joe biden*s legacy, whether that is on green policies, joe biden*s approach as we were just hearing, to the war in ukraine. a painful prospect probably bejoe biden as he hands over power. the mechanics
