haveissued at strong bert. the met office have issued an amber weather alerts for this. the rain is bumping into the cold there and you can see the white on the radar picture. the amount of snow, well, across the high ground of northern england were looking at 20 or 30 centimetres of snow. a similar thing for southern scotland with those amber warnings, those top—level warnings. further northwards we also have amber weather warnings for snow. these amber weather warnings are the most serious that we have for storm bert. that amber warning is valid until five o'clock this evening. it's notjust across the higher ground. the snow is coming down to lower levels. this picture shows the scene very snowy scene in harrogate in north yorkshire. i've been looking at some of the road in this part of the world and the aim is really struggling at the

moment. are we talking about one of the biggest rows across northern england which is grinding to a halt with the heavy snow coming down. there is more of that to come across this morning. we are going to see further ram packed to trap transport —— impact to transport. it is not the only hazard we've already seen gusts of wind in the isles of scilly. some of the strongest gusts will work up into the 70s. the wins will become really strong across most of the uk reaching gale force. strong enough to bring down tree branches, so we could see localised disruption just about anywhere. the final issueis just about anywhere. the final issue is the rainfall. we looking about huge amounts of

was a crash on the main road earlier this morning, apparently the weather conditions were very poor there but now it has now been cleared up. we are expecting disruption on the roads. police advise people to really think about whether travel is necessary on the roads. we've had some rail disruption in the past week and we expect of that today, depending on how the weather pans out. and again on the ferries, watch out for disruption on those. when the shops open, people can starting to clear the pathway and the snow is starting to rile up a bit on the pavements. actually the place waking up and people looking really as a very pretty wintry scene. i'm sure that this is something that will please people that i hear on their holidays. with that
