to the bbc news at one. at least five people are now known to have died as a result of storm bert which has brought severe flooding, wind and snow to parts of the uk. one of the worst affected areas is south wales. there's growing anger there among some comunities who say warnings didn't come soon enough for them to prepare — especially after promises to improve the system were made to people affected by storm dennis four years ago. in some places, including south west england, there was close to a month's worth of rain over the weekend — and public transport networks are still badly affected. and the clean—up is now underway here in chippenham where the river avon burst its banks, leaving this pub under water. more than 100 flood warnings are still in place across the uk including one "danger to life" warning in northamptonshire. our correspondent alison freeman has the latest. the speed at which the water took hold revealed in this cctv. injust

who is in cwmtillery, south wales for us this lunchtime, hywel, what's the latest there? 0n on top of the deluge of rain residents had over the weekend, late last night they had it one of a landslide. you can see over my shoulder a huge amount of earth which came down from the mountain side, there is an old tip above the houses. residents were told to evacuate, most people he did that and spent the night away from their home. one gentleman insisted on staying in his house. he was born in the street, lived here for 70 years. he is safe and well. we have been speaking to others coming to inspect their properties and finding a huge amount of damage in the downstairs area. lots of mud and dirty water seeping through. the concern for many people is as well as the damage from the water, things might be blocked up by the mad and potentially cause problems with

they are doing what they can. we are in wellingborough, in northamptonshire which had a flood warning. we are by the river. it burst its banks further up, and come over a play park and car park and cafe. the swans have got a bit more free reign than normal. more territory. five miles up the road there is a severe flood warning at a holiday park where lots of people are staying in static caravans. that has been evacuated, the council has set up a community centre for residents who need to stay overnight. there is disruption on the rail. even though the tracks have dried up services are disrupted and people are advised not to travel, or to check with the train operator. disruption also on the roads, localised flooding. people try their best to get about, the

yet known. a32—year—old woman who was also affected was taken to hospital as a precaution. a witness described seeing a man shooting directly into a car. she said he fired multiple times and described people screaming, and coming out side to call police. a woman i spoke to elia who is home overlooks this area, said that what she initially thought were fireworks, they turned out to be gunshots, she said she has lived here 30 years and has not felt unsafe until now. a lot of people have said what makes them feel unsafe is they do not know the nature of the attack, whether it was random, orwhetherthe nature of the attack, whether it was random, or whether the victims were known to them. police will hold an update soon. the leader of kensington and chelsea council says it is beyond belief that a child has been caught in the crossfire of violence on the streets of london.

luxmy gopal. a dhl cargo plane has crashed near vilnius airport in lithuania, killing one person and injuring three others. police say it came down as it was coming in to land, narrowly missing a house. the pilot died and three crew members were taken to hospital. the scheduled flight was operated by swiftair on behalf of dhl and had taken off from leipzig in germany. the foreign office says it's investigating reports that a former british soldier fighting for ukraine has been captured by russian forces. in a video circulating online the man identified himself as james scott rhys anderson. it's believed the 22—year—old was detained in russia's kursk region. the welsh government will publish details of its planned tourism tax later. under the plans, local councils will get the power to charge a small amount of extra money on overnight stays in addition to accommodation bills. the amount will be revealed when the law is published, but critics fear it might put visitors off travelling to wales.
