weather. hello again! the weather today is certainly a lot quieter than it has been in the last few days. it's not as windy as yesterday, as you can see from the distinct lack of isobars, and we're also looking at fewer showers. but we do have this area of low pressure coming our way later on. storm bert has now pushed away to scandinavia. so, we've got this weak weather front which is sinking southwards across scotland and northern ireland into northern england, with some showery outbreaks of rain. there's a peppering of showers across parts of the north and the west, but most of us staying dry until later when the cloud thickens, the winds will start to pick up a touch, and we're also looking at some rain coming in. temperatures five to about 12 degrees. now, this area of rain is connected to this area of low pressure, which is going to be pushing northwards and eastwards through the course of the night. some of the rain will be heavy, especially from essex

to the isle of wight. you could hear the odd rumble of thunder in that, and we're also looking at strengthening winds and some wintriness in the hills of wales and potentially the peak district. but north of all of that, what you'll find is it's going to be a cold night with a touch of frost. so, tomorrow, we pick up this rain as it continues to push in the direction of the north sea. it will brighten up behind it in the west. to the north and the west, drier and brighter with just a few showers. but as this area of low pressure with the rain pulls further towards the near continent, the winds on its back edge are going to pick up. we have gusts 50 to 55 miles an hour, possibly with exposure a little bit more, and there'll be a few more showers coming in across northeast england and southeast scotland. temperatures four to about 1k degrees. that moves away during the course of wednesday night, and then into thursday, this area of high pressure builds in, effectively keeping these weather fronts at bay in the atlantic. so, on thursday, we start off with some frost, also some patchy fog. when that lifts, a lot of dry weather, some sunny spells, but through the day, as the weather front approaches, you can see the cloud building, the wind strengthening and some of us will see some spots

of rain in the west. chilly day in prospect for most again, temperatures widely three to about eight degrees. locally we could see 13 degrees. but as we head into the weekend and the wind direction changes to more of a south—westerly, what you'll find is the temperatures will go up a touch.
