leeds, manchester and liverpool airports have closed their runways, as snow and ice brings disruption to parts of the uk. amber weather warnings are in place in parts of northern england, the midlands and wales. forecasters say up to a0 centimetres of snow could fall in some places, and temperatures could fall as low as minus ten celsius. there's a warning of more delays and disruption to come. let's go live now to west yorkshire, and our correspondent nicky schiller who's there for us. however things looking? so, the snow is still falling here, lucy, and it has been continually saff the last few hours. it is not as heavy as it was at around 7am this morning. it is easing off in terms of the snow. there has been a lot

10:32 am
people are getting onto the roads. it is up in the higher ground, particularly over the pennines, where they are worried that there could be up to 40 worried that there could be up to a0 centimetres of snow. that is a concern. 0ne to a0 centimetres of snow. that is a concern. one of the main roads that often get shut has been shut in that area. but the authority is keeping an eye, if the snow does continue to fall there. we can talk to someone who is very used to snow at the high levels, nicole hayes, the manager of the tan hill inn, britain's highest pub. in 2021, they got snowed in for a couple of days. nicolejoins they got snowed in for a couple of days. nicole joins us now. good morning to you, what are the conditions like with you today? the conditions like with you toda ? ~ ., ., the conditions like with you toda 7~ ., ., ., the conditions like with you toda ? ~ ., ., ., today? we have got four foot snow drifts — today? we have got four foot snow drifts already. - today? we have got four foot snow drifts already. the - today? we have got four foot snow drifts already. the road i snow drifts already. the road is blocked, there is no up to people's_ is blocked, there is no up to people's tires. there have been

10:36 am
get out on their toboggans and be able to build their snowmen, and they will have a good time. and i think the authorities are probably breathing a little bit of a sigh of relief, the fact that it has happened on sunday with all of this weather, because if it had happened behind me, the roads would have been a lot busier if it happened tomorrow with people trying to get to work. we have just seen two runners literally going flying by! they are hardy people here in leeds. you could see by the side of the road here the snow has really built up. this raid here this morning when we got up was completely covered in snow and you can see as the cars go by, it is turning more into sludge so there are more cars out and
10:37 am
about here in leeds. this is one of the roads into the centre of leeds. you can see by the amount on the side here, there was a fair amount of snow overnight. certainly when i got up overnight. certainly when i got up and tried to clear the car roof, there was five centimetres on top of it. people were saying don't travel unless you have to do, that we would stay where we were, and i'm glad we did because the snow has continued to come down. you can see it is still falling here in leeds and that will be the picture across a lot of the country. in some areas there were power cuts last night, and there are some people who don't have power in the midlands area. the big issue has been with transport and the airports. the good news is that manchester airport, which was closed, is now open. and liverpool is also hoping to open this hour. leeds bradford, which is about five miles up
10:38 am
the road there, is still shut and it will be closed until midday today. people are out and about, as you can see, braving the weather. leeds bradford airport telling people to check before they head to the airport to find out if their flight has been delayed or cancelled. you do need to be careful there. conditions here on the roads are not great so the advice is, if you are heading out on the roads, you do need to think about what you take with you. whether that be a blanket or if you have got water, you need a fully charged mobile phone as well. so be careful if you are deciding to head out onto the roads because you do need to be a little bit careful in these conditions. you can see here the snow is still falling. you can get a full forecast wherever you are on the bbc website or app. so let's get more on the
