2:04 pm
officials released this video of that meeting taking place. and right now the wider israeli cabinet is also meeting to approve it. they are meeting —— their meeting is due to finish in the coming hours. mr netanyahu says if everything is finalised, the first hostages are expected to be released on sunday. the names of the 33 hostages to be freed in the first phase of the ceasefire have now been published. and in gaza the civil defence agency says that 88 palestinians have been killed in israeli strikes in the last 2a hours. let's take a moment to look at this in a little bit more detail. we can cross to my colleague mark lowen who is in tel aviv, where families of the hostages have constantly gathered since october the 7th and are now anticipating what lies ahead. mark. ., , anticipating what lies ahead. mark. . , . mark. thanks very much indeed. this is hostages _ mark. thanks very much indeed. this is hostages square - mark. thanks very much indeed. this is hostages square in - mark. thanks very much indeed. this is hostages square in tel i this is hostages square in tel aviv. it has been very much the focal point and the symbol of

the trauma here in israel since october the 72023, when around 250 people were taken captive by hamas. and still today —— october the 7th 2023. i have to say, some family members happy with the deal in terms of getting the first wave of the hostages back but many others who are families and loved ones of those who are not on the first list of the hostages to be released are furious that more effort has not been done to get all of the hostages home in one go. now the security cabinet, as you say, has given its approval to the deal and recommended that it be ratified by the full government. that full government was meant to meet, was meant to start about half an hour ago. we understand
2:06 pm
it has not yet begun. but it is due to begin imminently and it is expected to ratify the deal as well. and it would then come into force on sunday. well, the full details of the deal have not been published but let's bring you what we know of it, according to the report is that we have got. it is a ceasefire deal that would be divided into three stages. the first stage is expected to begin on sunday, as i say come up with a clear indicator that the deal is in force. the release of three of the hostages taken by hamas during the attack into israel in october 2023. it is thought that 30 more hostages will then be released in the weeks which follow. and in return, israel will withdraw its forces from all populated areas of gaza, allowing palestinians who have been displaced by the fighting to return. there will also be an increase in deliveries of humanitarian aid. the first stage is set to last for six weeks and would see israel
2:07 pm
release around 1000 palestinian prisoners before the second stage. around the same time, hamas would release all remaining surviving hostages. israel would complete its military withdrawal from gaza, although there is no clear timeframe for this. if all of that passes off successfully, the third and final stage would involve the reconstruction of gaza. something which could take years and the return of any remaining hostages bodies. let us check in with our correspondentjonah fisher, who is in ourjerusalem bureau. jonah, bring us up to date with the choreography of what is happening in the coming hours and with that approval given by the security cabinet.— and with that approval given by the security cabinet. yeah, two important _ the security cabinet. yeah, two important meetings _ the security cabinet. yeah, two important meetings we - the security cabinet. yeah, two important meetings we are - important meetings we are expecting to take place today. we have had one of them, which is the security cabinet meeting of prime minister benjamin netanyahu's government. that neta nyahu's government. that

meeting netanyahu's government. that meeting really as trail has approved the ceasefire agreement with some of the far right members of the security cabinet voting against. we had one of them coming out after that security cabinet meeting, once again expressing how much he dislikes the deal, talking about the release of palestinian prisoners in particular as a release of terrorists. that everyone will know will return to try and kill does. it will now go to the full government meeting. everyone who is inside mr netanyahu pot administration. that is expected to start any moment now and i think we are expecting there to be a similar result. those who are opposed to the deal will very clearly articulate that. but in the big picture of things it is expected to be voted through. add that will then pave the way
2:09 pm
for this ceasefire agreement to start on sunday. sunday will be day one. we are expecting it to be probably in the afternoon on sunday and it will begin, we are told, with the release of three female israeli hostages and at the same time a big increase in the amount of aid and fuel that is getting into the gaza strip.— and fuel that is getting into the gaza stri. * ., the gaza strip. and, jonah, you talk about _ the gaza strip. and, jonah, you talk about the _ the gaza strip. and, jonah, you talk about the three _ the gaza strip. and, jonah, you talk about the three who - the gaza strip. and, jonah, you talk about the three who will i talk about the three who will be released on sunday and we now have a list of all the 33 who will now have a list of all the
