trump of*s infamous 2023 fulton county mugshot. this is the newest photo, side by side with the official presidential portrait taken in 2017. quite a contrast. joining me now as professor mike maloney obe, an honorary fellow at the royal photographic society, no stranger to ticking high—profile photographs. his subjects include former us presidents ronald reagan and bill clinton. thank you for joining us on bbc news. have you ever taken at donald trump's picture, or tried to it? , ., , ., ., it? yes, i have. it is a long sto , it? yes, i have. it is a long story. but— it? yes, i have. it is a long story. but i _ it? yes, i have. it is a long story, but i will— it? yes, i have. it is a long story, but i will shorten . it? yes, i have. it is a long story, but i will shorten it. | it? yes, i have. it is a long| story, but i will shorten it. i had this idea for my paper that donald trump had bought a golf club in scotland, i think it was turnberry. he owns a few clubs there now. and i thought it would be a bit of a freeze for the paper to get donald to put a kilt on —— a bit of a

wheeze. and after a lot of toing and froing, i managed to acquire a good kilt from a kilt maker in the highlands, and took it with me to see donald. i had always got on very well with him, but he would not put the kilt on. i think it was probably concerned that the headline in the paper would be, donald, claire's your troosers? —— where's your troosers. i tried every trick in the book and he is the only celebrity ever to have refused me. if we compare _ ever to have refused me. if we compare this _ ever to have refused me. if we compare this one _ ever to have refused me. if we compare this one took- ever to have refused me. if we compare this one took the - ever to have refused me. if we compare this one took the one j compare this one took the one from his previous term of office, this is the latest, and the mugshot, so i wonder what extent do you find that high—profile people like a president will defer to the photographer's suggestions, or do they want to, you know, have their own way? what do you make

deliberate move? without a doubt a deliberate - deliberate move? without a doubt a deliberate move. i deliberate move? without a - doubt a deliberate move. donald trump knows exactly what he is doing. in my heyday, i would be shooting on film, and so i couldn't show the person who was sitting for me what the picture would look like. you occasionally had a polaroid camera, you would take a polaroid shot, but it was never ideal. today, of course, we have digital photography, and you can see instantly what the outcome is. but donald trump is a very, very shrewd operator when it comes to photography. i should think the photographer that was taking those pictures probably took a couple of hundred, and donald would have gone through them, choosing the ones he wanted to have used. and i guess, very briefly, mike, if you look at this picture compared to the last one, from his last term of office, lots of people will be

2:56 pm
around into the weekend, there will be little change. it will stay dry, a little bit more fog around, and it will take a chilly turn. we are under this area of high pressure, and around high pressure, winds go in a clockwise direction. so we start to pull in some of this colder air that is sitting under the high pressure across parts of europe. it is going to get chillier. but mostly to england and wales because where we are seeing the breaks today across scotland and northern ireland, temperatures have got to 12 or 13 celsius. we do have a weather front with us across the north—west of scotland, patchy rain and drizzle here. sunshine across england and wales is more limited than it was yesterday. the best of it is to the north—east of the pennines, but it is still quite a chilly 6—7 under the cloud for many. as i say, it is a little bit milder orfurther north and west, further away from that cold air. tomorrow, that weather front stays with us. the breeze starts to pick up from the west, so largely frost free here, but perhaps the glens may have a touch of frost. more likely under the very thin cloud further south a touch
2:57 pm
of frost and hill fog around. the odd pocket of fog at lower levels as well to clear tomorrow morning. fairly hopeful with a bit more breeze in the west tomorrow, that will turn the cloud over a little bit more and break it up. perhaps northern england, wales, parts of south—west england, even eastern england and again scotland and northern ireland faring quite well. it is here we will see the high temperatures, but just 4—5 celsius across areas further south. even with the breaks on the cloud and the light wind. the wind direction is pulling it in generally from the south and east. by sunday the weather front is approaching a little more. some early morning fog which could be dense and slow to clear and generally will have a little bit more cloud in the skies there on sunday. for northern ireland and scotland, western scotland, quite a change with the approach of this weather front with some patchy rain so no doubt cloudier here.
2:58 pm
again east of the grampians we might see good spells of sunshine. a little sunshine but quite chilly at 3—4 celsius across england and wales but it does turn milder and more unsettled as we get into the middle of next week.
