live in tel aviv. dozens of people have been injured in a ski lift accident at the astun ski resort in spain. at least 17 people are in a serious condition. thousands of people are expected to join a march in washington to protest against donald trump's inauguration on monday. hello and a very warm welcome to bbc news. i am mark lowen and we are broadcasting live from tel aviv where there has been a stabbing incident in the last couple of hours. these are the pictures from a few minutes ago at the scene of the stabbing attack. police say the victim, a 30—year—old man, is in a serious condition in hospital. the attacker is reported to be a 19—year—old palestinian from the west bank

who was here without the necessary identity cards. a motive for the stabbing is not yet known. you can see there the heavy security presence at the heavy security presence at the scene of the attack. the attacker was shot dead by a passer—by shortly after he stabbed the victim. it all comes just hours before a ceasefire is due to come into place at 8.30 in the morning local time, place at 8.30 in the morning localtime, 6.30 place at 8.30 in the morning local time, 6.30 am gmt tomorrow morning, sunday morning, to try to bring an end to 15 months of war between israel and hamas, a war that has killed more than 16,000 people in gaza according to local health officials and a war that was sparked by the 7th of october attacks in israel, the worst attack in israel's history when hamas done then stormed israel taking some 250 hostage at —— hostage and

killing 1200 people. under the first phase of the ceasefire deal 300 hostages would be released back to israel in exchange for hundreds of palestinian prisoners being released from israeli jails and displaced gazans being a allowed back to their homes. these are the live pictures from khan younis showing the scene and the largest city in the south of the gaza strip. almost the entire population, 2 million people, have been displaced in 15 months of war in gaza and under this ceasefire deal they would be allowed to return home to what remains of their homes and what remains of their homes and what remains of their shattered lives. also, under the ceasefire deal, there would be a surge of humanitarian aid going into gaza with some 600 trucks of aid being allowed to enter the gaza strip per day to try to sustain the population in dire need. as we countdown
5:03 pm
to the moment when the ceasefire deal is due to come into place we are here at hostage square in tel aviv which has very much been a focal point for the trauma here in israel over the last 15 months as families and loved ones gathered here to try to continue to put pressure on the israeli government to try to stick to the deal and try to get their loved ones home. let us check in with our correspondent, jonah fisher, live from ourjerusalem bureau. tojonah, just tell is a bit more about the identity of the first hostages to be released, because i understand the names of the first three hostages due to be released tomorrow still have not been released by hamas? . * , ~ have not been released by hamas? . *, . ., * hamas? that's right. we don't know who _ hamas? that's right. we don't know who the _ hamas? that's right. we don't know who the first _ hamas? that's right. we don't know who the first three - hamas? that's right. we don't know who the first three will i know who the first three will be. i think there was a working assumption among many people it would be three female israeli soldiers who had been taken on october the 72023, but at this point we simply don't know.
5:04 pm
those three are the first three —— the those three are the first three -- the 7th those three are the first three —— the 7th of october, 2023. they are three on a list of names hamas have provided. we know the names on that list, mainly children, women, the elderly and the sick and injured, but it is not clear at this point whether they are all alive. i think the expectation from the israeli government is that some of them will not be. tomorrow what we are likely to see is that three of these israeli hostages will be handed over to the red cross, brought out of the gaza strip into israel, will probably go to a hospital, and in return israel will start releasing palestinian prisoners it has in jail, part of this ceasefire agreement. for every hostage are remains of a hostage that hamas hands over, israel will hand over in return dozens, or released dozens, of palestinian prisoners. in all, there could

be up to 2000 palestinians released, and mix of people who have been convicted of crimes, some of them murdering israelis in the past, and others are people who have simply been taken into custody during the gaza war, so a lot of people to be processed. tomorrow is the first day, and day one of a very complicated agreement. there is clearly not much trust, indeed hardly any trust, between the two sides. a lot could go wrong but it is the start of a process that just might read at least, if we were being unambitious, to a better life for the people living in gaza at the moment —— just might lead to, at least. gaza at the moment -- 'ust might lead to, at least. jonah fisher, thank _ might lead to, at least. jonah fisher, thank you _ might lead to, at least. jonah fisher, thank you very - might lead to, at least. jonah fisher, thank you very much l fisher, thank you very much indeed. let me bring you a line coming through to us in the last few minutes from the israeli prime minister's offers, the office of benjamin netanyahu, saying israel will not proceed with the gaza

ceasefire until it receives a list of the 33 hostages who will be released by hamas in the first phase of the deal, accusing hamas of "not yet releasing that list" of the hostages and breaking the agreement and saying, "the sole responsibility lies with hamas". that is a statement from benjamin netanyahu, very much underscoring the fact that there is still tension and details being worked out in these final hours before the ceasefire is due to come into force at 8.30 in the morning local time, with the first hostages being released a few hours later but that israeli prime minister's office saying they have not yet received a definitive list of those 33 hostages. well, it is believed on the list of the 33, but not yet confirmed until we receive it from hamas, there is the family of shiri bibas. yarden bibas, her husband, and also

from hamas in december that they have been killed. no evidence that that has really happened so we actually don't know what the situation is. from then on, from her husband, we have some kind of information from the last three lists, so almost 420 days ago, but since then we don't know anything. but since then we don't know an hina. . .,, but since then we don't know an him. ., .,, but since then we don't know anything-— but since then we don't know an hin. . , anything. hamas said they were killed by an _ anything. hamas said they were killed by an israeli _ anything. hamas said they were killed by an israeli attack, - anything. hamas said they were killed by an israeli attack, is - killed by an israeli attack, is that right?— killed by an israeli attack, is that right? yes, that is what it said. but _ that right? yes, that is what it said. but you _ that right? yes, that is what it said. but you don't - that right? yes, that is what it said. but you don't have i that right? yes, that is what l it said. but you don't have any reason to _ it said. but you don't have any reason to actually _ it said. but you don't have any reason to actually believe - reason to actually believe that? , ., ., ., that? first of all hamas, as ou that? first of all hamas, as you know. _ that? first of all hamas, as you know. it _ that? first of all hamas, as you know, it is— that? first of all hamas, as you know, it is a _ that? first of all hamas, as you know, it is a devil- you know, it is a devil organisation, a terrorist organisation. they lied before. it will lie again. hopefully, i believe they were lying this time. i want to believe they lied this time and they will come back alive but ijust have to pray and wait. come back alive but i 'ust have to pray and wait._ come back alive but i 'ust have to pray and wait. what is going throuh to pray and wait. what is going through your — to pray and wait. what is going through your head _ to pray and wait. what is going through your head and - to pray and wait. what is going through your head and your - through your head and your heart at the moment, yossi? just a huge roller—coaster of emotion. it is scary. i am optimistic. i am

emotion. it is scary. i am optimistic. iam happy, sad, mad. everything is together because this deal is not a good dealfor israel because this deal is not a good deal for israel but we have to bring our people back, 0k? deal for israel but we have to bring our people back, ok? but the way this deal is being made right now, the fact the first three names were supposed to be delivered, and until now we didn't get them and the fact that every week, just once a week, we are going to get a list of three or four people and it will continue like this for 42 days, for six long weeks. think about it. i am trying to explain to people. you have a family, kids, wife. you have a family, kids, wife. you think somebody needs to send you a message, and you are only going to get it once a week. in this message you will know if your family is going to stay alive or not, if you're going to see them again or not. this is this list, like this senders list of our days. —— like the schindler's list of our days. i cannot find the words to explain how difficult
