this is the scene outside liverpool crown court inside axel rudakubana is being sentenced for the murder of three girls at a dance class in southport lastjuly and the southport last july and the attempted southport lastjuly and the attempted murder of ten other people. in the past half hour proceedings resumes and rudaku ba na proceedings resumes and rudakubana did enter the court and thejudge allowed rudakubana did enter the court and the judge allowed that to happen. then he started yelling again saying he needed to be seen by a paramedic. ifeel ill, he shouted. thejudge had him removed again saying the court is aware that he has been seen by two teams are paramedics who deem that he is fit to attend. this is after a similar thing that happened when proceedings started this morning. in the past few minutes the court has been hearing some impact statements. this is something from dance instructor leanne lucas who was leading that dance class. she was stabbed five times and had life—threatening english 2 injuries but survived. the

court has been hearing her impact statement. she said i cannot stay in my own home alone or go to work, as a 36—year—old woman i cannot walk down the street without holding my breath as i bypass a person and then glanced back to see if they have attempted to stab me. as a 36—year—old woman, i cannot enter a public place without considering how i will get out in the event of an emergency. there was a long period of time after the incident where i felt i had no trust in society. i am trying to see the goodness in the world however the badness has been evidently proven to me to exist in plain sight on our doorsteps, in our community. you never think this is going to happen to you. i never thought it would happen to me and now my minds mindset has been altered. i worked with teenagers i never would have considered they would hurt me or hurt younger children. those impact statement starting to be

scared of what you are doing and i was in a blind panic. i ran out onto the landing and there was a group of girls huddled and i i was pushing them to get them out of the building and away from you. this is a victim impact statement from a girl who attended that dance class she is giving her information through video link it is distressing to read it but it gives you a sense of what it was like when the defendant entered this dance class and killed three young girls he

stabbed a further eight girls and two adults. one of whom was and two adults. one of whom was an adult who came to help. in the next hour or so we expect the next hour or so we expect the judge to give that sentence. this is the time now as it would have been during the trial if he hadn't pled guilty. this is the time for those people to share their stories of the terrible impact that the defendant has had on their lives. that hearing continues. sarah thank you. let's think about some of the words that we have been hearing from the prosecution talking about rudakubana being referred to prevent. that was for

researching school shootings during a technology class, so still while he was at school. the next two referrals were in 2021 were after he uploaded images to instagram of colonel gaddafi and had been found researching the london bridge terror attacks. researching the london bridge terrorattacks. reports researching the london bridge terror attacks. reports of incidents at home meant he was stopped from attending school in may 2021. in march 2022 a place was found for him at a new high school but he did not attend. details about his life and what he did in the years before these killings took place. the prosecution said the evidence presented demonstrated that the stabbings on that day were premeditated, planned by the defendant by some time and also, when asked about their poison found at his home and the al-qaeda manual, he

remained silent. the court had details about his background. he was born in cardiff and moved to southport with his family and became a pupil ins formby. in 2019 he contacted childline and asked, what should i do if i want to kill someone? explained he hated someone? explained he hated someone at school who bullied him and felt angry and wanted to kill them. a referral was made to the police at that time who visited the defendant. he confirmed he had taken a knife to school and said he would use it if he became angry. the school was informed and he had been temporarily excluded by then. this was made permanent when he admitted taking a knife to school on ten previous occasions. referrals were made to the multi—agency safeguard hub and the adolescent mental health service. this will be looked into in an inquiry as to what could have been done when the authorities knew so much

about this very troubled man. we wait for this sentencing to begin. impact statement still being heard but when we hear from thejudge we being heard but when we hear from the judge we will be able to bring that to you live from inside the court. in the meantime, let's get an update on the weather picture. hello there. you really will need to stay tuned to the forecast for the next 24 to 48 hours. we've got some very damaging, dangerous weather on the way. so much so, the met office have issued not one, but two rare red warnings for storm eowyn. this is for northern ireland, the whole of northern ireland and for central and southern scotland. here's the storm winding itself up, deepening as it crosses the country. real squeeze in the isobars on its southern flank across the northern half of the country. this is where were likely to see most of the damage and the disruption. in the short term, we have a weaker system crossing the country, a frontal system bringing some rain, some of it heavy

and thundery and stronger winds pushing into southern and western areas. so quite a blustery afternoon to come. some sunshine though, but still on the chilly side. single digits across the board. a brief ridge of high pressure will bring a quiet spell tonight for a time before storm eowyn comes racing in from the south and west to bring another band of heavy rain spreading northwards and eastwards, with some snow on the hills as it bumps into the cold air. and then the winds really ramp up across western areas, initially for northern ireland, the whole of northern ireland under a red warning, isolated gusts in excess of 100 miles an hour through the early hours of friday, just in time for the rush. and then that transfers to central southern scotland into the afternoon. again, wind gusts in excess of 90 miles an hour. and then we've got a more general amber warning in force for northern ireland, north wales, northern england and throughout scotland as we move through friday and even into the start of saturday. the strongest of the wind transfers to northern scotland. so friday looks very stormy indeed. band of heavy rain spreading northwards and eastwards, and improvements across england and wales, with some sunshine breaking through and eventually northern ireland, but lots of blustery showers across the northern half of scotland, where we continue with severe gales here through the day. temperatures coming up a little bit in the south,

but you won't notice it because of the strength of the wind. so storm eowyn likely to bring some significant disruption, damaging winds, that's going to cause power cuts, structural damage and significant travel disruption. so do stay tuned to the forecast and to your bbc local radio. that storm pulls away northwards, a brief ridge of high pressure as we head into saturday before another frontal system starts to work its way into western areas later on. saturday promises to be another chillier day, but bright with some sunshine. still very windy across northern and western scotland, and we'll see more heavy rain pushing into western areas, and it will be a chilly day across the board. and then into sunday, another storm moves in, potentially a named storm, this time a little bit further south.

lam sarah i am sarah campbell in liverpool. the teenager who murdered three girls in southport will be sentenced today. axel rudakubana arrived here at liverpool crown court earlier. he along with the rest of the court is hearing from the families and his victims about the impact his barbaric actions have had on all their lives. i will bring you all the developments from court. i am in london and in other news the met office has issued a red weather warning covering northern ireland and parts of scotland as storm eowyn approaches, warning of gusts of “p approaches, warning of gusts of up to 100 miles an hour and a dangerto up to 100 miles an hour and a danger to life. and the patients in wales waiting too long for emergency care. we
