and — sinner celebrates going back to back in melbourne as he lifts grand slam trophy number three. hello, and welcome along to the programme. tottenham and leicester city both would have done anything for a win this weekend. two of the premier league's poorest teams when it comes to form, and for the spurs* boss, ange postecoglou, the questions mount for him and his side that were beaten 2—1 in north london. the win for leicester city, though, takes them out of the relegation zone. while it has been a dreadful start to the year in the league for spurs —
4:46 am
they have not won for seven games now and, after that defeat on sunday, they remain in 15th place — just eight points above the drop zone. richarlison gave them the lead only for two goals in quick second—half succession first from jamie vardy then bilal el khannouss, putting leicester city back in front. and that was how it stayed. ruud van nistelrooy*s team surviving the late attempts to gain an equaliser, hanging on for a much—needed win, and the victory stops a run of seven—straight defeats for them. there is, of course, relief and celebration in the dressing room all together with players and all staff — everybody involved. we were really looking for this moment and it took a long time. so, now, we can enjoy this for a day or two, and it is back to work, because i said at the beginning, since my arrival, it is going to go right until the end. it is going to go right to the end for us, and let's prepare and take some
4:47 am
momentum off from this win. the supporters are feeling it as well, _ and it's not an atmosphere where it's easy at the moment. and kind of one follows the other. we need to sort of break through that and try to give them something to get behind the team for so they can create that atmosphere we had. i mean, it was not that long ago we beat liverpool here and it was a great night. so, you have to keep these things in context. manchester united picked up an important three points with their 1—0 win over fulham at craven cottage. chances in the game for both sides with few and far between but lisandro martinez was helped by a pretty big deflection as he gave united the lead. fulham remain in 10th place while united move up to 12th. the manchester united manager ruben amorim joked that his 40th birthday, which comes on monday, feels more like his 50th birthday after just a couple of months at the club. at the feeling of winning, i know that there is not —
4:48 am
you cannot see a great improvement on the team, and that is a fact. so, i do not pay attention to criticism from outside. but in the moment, i think it is a little bit fair, so i can deal with that normality. but to win, help us to improve. much more calm first half. second half, yes. the game did not start so, so well, and of course after that, the goal was much more with the lack of composure in some moments and a bit of rushing, as you said, but it is part of the game and sometimes the players are inside, even if you try to give them the feedback to be more calm and sometimes it is not so easy. brentford won an away match for only the second time this season. a 2—1victory at london. rivals crystal palace. both goals came in the second half. the first was a penalty from bryan mbeumo who hit the post with his spot kick but was ordered to retake it
4:49 am
by var and make sure to score the second time. a kevin schade header confirmed all three points went to brentford, making their manager very happy. i think we etched it. i think even game we etched, but also, in the end, i think they were on top of the important moments. i thought we defended very well. we did not give a lot away against a very tricky and good front three. so, you know, a solid, solid good away performance. when that penalty gets decided that it has got to be taken again, are you in your mind thinking that brian should give the ball to someone else or do you want him to take the penalty again? no, i want him to take it again. he is the best penalty taker. he had a 100% record before this, and i think in that situation it is all about trust your processes and your strategy, and he did. i think it was a game - where both teams neutralised each other for most _ of the time and then it looked
4:50 am
like the team who makesl the first mistake will lose, and at the end, | it was — yeah... it did not feel that we were . so close to get the equaliser. we made pressure, we had some situations, but not i this clear chance. that is why at the end we went for the win. i aston villa missed the chance to move to within two points of the champions league after a 1—1 draw at home to west ham. fulham took the lead in the first half with a well—taken goalfrom jacob ramsey but the home side lost defender tyrone mings to injury and west ham hit back after the break, equalising as emerson headed in edson alvarez*s cross. fulham are in 8th place. west ham sit in 13th. i think the other side was fair because we played well. of course, we were with the idea score a second goal. we did more or less not bad, but not enough. i think the performance deserved maybe more. certainly second half.
4:51 am
i think after maybe the first 15 minutes we played well. we had good control. we were aggressive. we tried to attack. and we tried to win the ball back high as well, so really pleased in performance and, yeah, it is a point, and of course we take a point, but i think that performance was one to be really positive about. chelsea's grip on the women's super league has been tightened with a 1—0 victory over rivals arsenal. the defeat for the gunners is the first under renee slegers, but the day really was all about the champions, who introduced their new world—record signing to the fans at stanford bridge. this atmosphere is incredible. i think chelsea just have that winning culture, that mentality, and i think ijust really wanted to be a part of that group with the players and the staff
4:52 am
and what the club stands for. i think it is amazing. there are so many players on this team who have so much experience and a lot of young players that have been amazing as well, so just really excited to be in with the group and learning, growing and just getting better here. a 1—0 win for chelsea saw them go nine points clear of manchester city with arsenal now a distant 10 points off that post in third place. the chelsea boss, unbeaten in the league this season, knows how valuable the points were. we started well in the game, the first 15 minutes, after we dropped a little bit our intensity, and we, i think, believed until the end it was possible, so i think mentally it is a big thing to have to believe until the end we can score a goal and, yeah, it is a great, great win for us. we knew they were going to come out strong here at stanford bridge, chelsea, and we were prepared for having
4:53 am
to deal with a lot in the first 10—15 minutes, and i think we do that well. we get through it and then we grow into the game and i think we do a lot of things quite well today. want to be more clinical with our finishing in the final third, but overall, a very tight game, small margins. elsewhere in the wsl, manchester united moved to second place after a 3—0 win over brighton. it was a 95th—minute winner for substitute 0livia holt on her debut for tottenham that gave them victory over crystal palace. also wins for leicester city and west ham. to tennis now, and the top seed jannik sinner has retained his australian open singles title by beating alexander zverev in straight sets. it was a battle between the world number one and the world and world number two with sinner comfortably coming out on top in straight sets. zverev didn't get a single breakpoint in the match. sinner becomes the first italian man to win three grand slam singles trophies. sebastian extended for the monte carlo rally record. the eight time world champion who is only competing part time
4:54 am
this season took the lead at monte carlo on friday afternoon and held onto it to the finish on sunday. he beat his british toyota teammate alvin evans by more than 18 seconds, with fellow frenchman completing the podium, and afterwards he was very emotional about his late uncle who had inspired him. i don't know where to start. what a weekend. i think i had my lucky star with me this weekend. that has been my uncle who i lost one year ago. i am sure he was bringing me everything, and this one is for him. quite a difficult moment this weekend. yeah... like i said, my lucky star was there. ten times — that is some achievement. i don't know what it means, but for me — the world. i have no idea if it is my last one. maybe it would be a good place to stop, maybe.

of cloud and outbreaks of very heavy rain at times further northwards and eastwards through the night, that hook on the rain producing potentially still some very squally gusts of wind of up to 60mph to 80mph but clearing into monday morning, so this is how we'll start off the day. perhaps still some hill snow, just as that rain curls into southern central areas of scotland. there'll be squally showers out towards the west and some very strong gusty winds. heavier rain pushing eastwards from northern ireland into north west england and eventually up into southern and central areas of scotland, too. but very strong winds out towards irish sea coasts of up to 60mph to 70mph, also for some western channel coasts, too, and some of these showers are likely to have some thunder, some lightning and some hail in them, some very heavy downpours and strong gusty winds. temperatures 6—9 degrees celsius, tending to be drier and brighter across eastern areas of england. an improving picture somewhat on tuesday as that area of low pressure starts to weaken and fill but there'll still be plenty of showers swirling around. they won't be quite so potent as they will have been
4:57 am
on monday, though, and there will be some brighter spells, also some areas of cloud. more of a northwesterly wind. still quite blustery, particularly towards those western coasts. temperatures between six and nine degrees celsius for most of us. and that area of low pressure clears away, only to be followed by another one that this time is going to be bringing some heavy rain at times towards southern areas of england in particular. now, there's still a lot of debate on how far north this rain is going to get and if it does get further north than this, then over the higher ground, potentially there could be some snowfall. but for much of the northern half of the uk, largely dry. a few showers around. temperatures again 6—9 degrees celsius. on thursday, though, a ridge of high pressure, so much more settled. conditions generally dry. there'll be some sunshine. more rain potentially on friday and through the weekend. bye— bye.
