the crash happened only a minute after take—off. it comes two days after the mid—air collision between a military helicopter and a passenger plane in washington dc. graham satchell has the latest. the moment the jet crashed, captured on cctv cameras across philadelphia. the explosion heard and seen for miles around. the plane came down in a heavily populated part of the city at rush hour. it set cars and buildings on fire. wreckage from the aircraft strewn across the streets. eyewitnesses described the moment of impact. ijust see the plane is getting lower and lower and lower. it nipped the house. when it nipped the house, it hit a couple of cars. boom! and into the plaza, into the dunkin�* donuts— everywhere. i have never seen nothing like that a day in my life. it was a big ball of fire just flew into the sky and the whole gas station was shaking.

at first light, the full extent of the damage became clear — debris across a wide area and a small crater where the plane hit. the jet was carrying six people, all mexican nationals. they are believed to have been a young girl who had been receiving life—saving treatment, her mother and four flight crew. all those on board were killed. the authorities say one person was also killed on the ground. we can confirm that therel are also a number of other victims who were injured in this incident and - they are being treated - in area hospitals, and thus far our count is that there are 19 injured victims. - but again this is not etched in stone. - the crash comes just two days after a much larger collision between a commercialjet and a military helicopter in washington. officials say 67 people lost their lives, including members of the american ice skating team. angela yang and sean kay are believed to be the youngest victims of the washington crash, their identities confirmed today.

they were just 11 years old. in philadelphia, the federal aviation administration has now started their investigation as two american cities mourn their dead. graham satchell, bbc news. as graham mentioned there, investigations into the crash between a passenger plane and army helicopter in washington dc are continuing. teams are continuing to search the potomac river for evidence and have already recovered the black boxes. dr michael mccormick is an associate professor and program coordinator in air traffic management at embry riddle aeronautical — he told me air traffic control will be one area investigators focus on. certainly air traffic control
