at the oval office full of journalists, full of open jaws. know when around me, including seasoned white house correspondence, could believe what was happening in front of us —— no—one. in front of the world. there were people who had seen a lot of dramatic days particularly in the trump white house, but nothing like this they told me. and it started off so normal. there were the usual greetings, warm handshakes, president zelensky giving president trump a gift, a boxing belt belonging to the ukrainian boxer alexander is sick. but then as reporter started hurling questions at each of the leaders, another raised an eyebrow here and had an awkward silence there. the tension was rising and then it really went up a level. the gloves came off like a boxing game when vice presidentjd vance chipped in to an answer that president trump had given and then president zelensky disagreed with them both. vance was quick to point out they were litigating an argument in front of the world pass media and none of them were happy about it. and from then on, the

frustration started to boil over the world's media. unknown to believe it. and then when we were told to leave the oval office, everyone stood still, silence, stunned, no and could believe it. —— no—one could believe it. —— no—one could believe it. the two leaders were expected to sign a deal that would give the us access to ukraine's vast mineral resources. but mr zelensky departed the white house early — a news conference cancelled and a deal unsigned. us officials reportedly asked the ukrainian delegation to leave immediately after the clash. shortly after his motorcade departed, mr trump wrote on his social media platform: "president zelensky is not ready for peace if america is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations. i don't want advantage, i want peace. he disrespected the united states of america in its cherished oval office. he can come back when he is ready for peace." but president zelensky expressed gratitude to the american people after his clash with trump, writing on x: "thank you america, thank you for your support, thank
