been a bit more tactile in the face of a verbal attack by the president and vice president of the united states. but broadly speaking, there's a rule in ukraine. there's a pattern. whenever the country is under threat, be it from the invasion or whether it's president zelensky himself, it fuels a political unity where you'll have his most fierce political rivals and they don't hold back in parliament. there is a deep division on domestic issues like mobilisation, for example. but in these periods there is unity because the country does not want to appear divided and not least in the face of russia.

(tx vt) stay with us here on bbc news. hello. it is the start of meteorological spring today and the weather is looking fairly dry and settled through the course of the weekend. it was certainly a chilly start to the morning this morning. a lot of dry weather on the cards, but some frost again tonight and some fog patches as well. they could be quite slow to clear in places, but it's high pressure that's dominating our weather. this is a satellite from earlier. you can see this bank of cloud that's been moving in, this weather front, which is fizzling out as it

pushes south, so not much rain left on it for the remainder of the day as it moves across southern scotland, northern england, clearing out of northern ireland later on today. either side of that, more in the way of sunshine. once the mist and fog clears away, should be a glorious day across central and southern england and wales. ten degrees or so here and we'll see a bit more sunshine following across scotland and northern ireland later in the day too. just this band of cloud through central areas. through this evening and tonight, that's tending to break up a little bit more. once again we'll see some fog developing. could be quite dense for places in the southeast of england in particular. one or two patches elsewhere. temperatures down as low as minus two minus three degrees for some of us, especially in the south. but we could see a frost in the north too. if you want to knowjust how cold it's going to get overnight where you live, you can always find more detail on the overnight temperatures by looking at the bbc weather app. so it starts on that chilly note, then, sunday morning with that fog in the south and southeast, in particular. mist and fog clearing away through the morning, and then actually another dry day with long spells

of sunshine around. still not feeling particularly warm, though. top temperatures up to around about 11, possibly 12 degrees in one or two spots. and we've just got this line of cloud through central areas, which could produce an isolated shower. and this band of rain moving into the far north west, bringing some rain to the western isles later on. a bit of a breezier spell of weather tomorrow as well, and on into monday. so that frontal system just pushes its way across parts of scotland, but high pressure dominates generally. but it will bring a bit more cloud on monday and some slightly windier weather in the far north west. but for most of us, another dry, quiet sort of day on monday. again, the chance of some mist and some fog in the south overnight, but it should clear away. sunny spells and more of us seeing temperatures up to around 12 or 13 degrees, so starting to just nudge up by a degree or so. the outlook really for the rest of next week, then, is for some fine and settled spring weather on the cards. perhaps more of a chance of showers in the north towards the end of the week, but those temperatures on an upward trend. bye for now.
