georgescu, he seems to represent something unknown, perhaps, something new. thank ou for perhaps, something new. thank you for that _ thank you for that. the vatican says the pope had a peaceful night after another breathing crisis in hospital pope francis, who's 88, has been in hospital in rome for two weeks, receiving treatment for double pneumonia. the vatican said his lungs had to be cleared of vomit and he was then helped to breathe through an oxygen mask. our correspondent sarah rainsford and gave us this update. a little bit of reassurance perhaps this morning in that brief statement from the vatican. we get a decent short morning updates, this morning that the vatican simply said the night was peaceful and that the night was peaceful and that the pope wasn't out resting. i think, coming after that more dramatic news from yesterday, which was the second time that the vatican had used the word crisis when describing what had happened to the pope, i think that will be a little bit of a relief for many of the catholics following this closely around the world.

yesterday, with the vatican said, and they were obviously quoting the doctors, they said there had been an isolated breathing crisis. essentially we had a briefing then where officials explained to us that the pope had had a coughing fit, spasm of his lungs and he was struggling for breath and sake. his lungs had to be aspirated, cleared of obstruction, and then the pope had been given oxygen, a facemask to help him breathe. we were told that the pope was alert throughout and it did not lose consciousness, and even that he was in good spirits yesterday evening. this was a breathing crisis which happened around about two o'clock in the afternoon. i think it has concerned people, the pope is back on the front pages of all italian newspapers again. obviously, the story from america and the white house are dominating the front pages, but the news of the popes new problems are causing anxiety

and the headlines are certainly reflecting that here in italy. there were prayers on at st. peter's square again yesterday evening, lots of people gathered to pay for the health of the pope led by the cardinals who came out on the steps of the basilica to lead people in the prayers of the rosary, hoping for the pope to make a recovery.— make a recovery. thanks to sarah for — make a recovery. thanks to sarah for that _ make a recovery. thanks to sarah for that update. - the santa fe county sheriff has ruled out carbon monoxide poisoning as a cause of the deaths of the double oscar—winning actor gene hackman and his wife, betsy arakawa. he said the actor had been dead for around ten days when his body was found, but that investigators were not sure whether he or his wife had died first. both individuals tested negative for carbon monoxide. an initial interrogation was conducted of mr hackman*s pacemaker, this revealed that his last event was recorded on a february 17, 2025. iwas

let's have a look at the satellite picture. can't miss this band of cloud. that's the weather front. it's been over northern ireland, scotland too. the skies have been a little cloudy. even a little bit of light drizzle and rain here and there. that weather front is stuck in the area of high pressure. so it's not moving an awful lot, but it should be out of the picture mostly by the time we get to tomorrow. so here's the picture end of the afternoon. that weather front still over the irish sea into southern scotland. but for many of us it's a case of blue skies and temperatures of around nine celsius. tonight, the high pressure is right over us. that weather front still stuck in the high, so in some places it will be rather cloudy. but to the south we'll see a widespread frost, even in bigger towns and cities. a windless and calm,
