because everyone loves them there. you will now sell this worldwide right when your biggest competitor comes out of europe. you're going in there without -- all of the products you want. what does that mean for ford? sellr products we everywhere. what is cool about mustang is is it -- it is billed for the roads. the acceleration and the balance of the car, the europeans will love it. i was introduced in barcelona. we have a right-hand driver. it means we can sell it in the u.k. and other places that have right-hand drives. it will be a world car. you mentioned you cannot get them before. dealers used to gray market them in because they wanted him so badly. >> another headline grabber. ford unveiling its new pickup. this thing is made almost entirely of aluminum and not steal. >> this is a big departure.

economy and you look at where we are today and what happens in the future on a regulatory basis, we do not want to offer a cure to midsize truck. that was a formula a lot of people tried to make work. have got a four- cylinder that makes 193 horsepower. we have got a turbo diesel yes turbodiesel. those are six with over 300 horsepower. this truck will be the quietest in segment. it will be the most beautiful in segment. we have lineups we are frankly not putting in our big trucks. it is a different value equation and different capability equation. it is a different operational cost the nation people will really be interested in and it will cost less. not everybody needs a full-size silverado everyday. do want is wi-fi.

he will offer mobile hotspots in many new cars. that means you will have web service wherever your cargoes. >> we have been in the business for 17 years now. to put this pipe in the card to enable people to do things, create a mobile hotspot in the car and use the technology, it is really a great thing for everybody in the car. from voice recognition and being able to voice command and use the clout and use onstar from a safety standpoint, we really take care of our customers with terms of safety and simple things like my kids having flat tires. that type of 4g is a huge enabler. neword will introduce 23 models this year. that is double last year cost a total. the profit forecast was lowered 12%. >> is because we are investing

more on new products and new production. the neatest thing about our plan is profitable growth over the long term for everybody. our most happens to be aggressive launches. we will launch 23 new vehicles in 2014 and we are also it banning our production capability. and one inew plants brazil. we are also increasing our production and a lot of investment this year and we will continue to deliver profitable growth over a long time. a really strong year. >> you had a record year in china and putting in new factory all over the place in europe. will that continue? hiring? of >> we are hiring a 11,000 new employees. 5000 in the united states. point, this is increasing production so we can continue to serve the complete family of vehicles.

number one is not a bad place to be. how important is it to hold onto that? create a product, and then notnumber of sales, it is our primary goal, but we like when it is getting or coming there, but we will not get desperate in 2014. we have a good chance to stay there, but if not, we move on. >> how do you feel about 2014? the u.s. auto market has been on an incredible run. europe has been an incredible slump here it is there a little turnaround on both sides of the ,omentum in the u.s. continuing and we see $4 million in 2014, another five percent up, in europe, we see the end of the downturn at a very slow slide. recovery is won or two percent

this year. asia, still more momentum. a little slower than it used to be. altogether, we expect something in the vicinity of five percent. >> do you see the recovery in europe in any way following the recovery we had in the u.s.? will we see a big pickup in 2015? the one end, the global economy has opened and everything depends on everything. on the other hand, we have very specific issues in europe with the euro. we are starting to overcome the challenges. we benefit on the one hand, especially in germany, from recovery in other places. we create our own momentum in europe. i do not think it will be following in the sense of inclinations. in 2015, it would better than 2014. 2014 is already better than it was. >> it is hard to look out and even economists have trouble

and the doubt. 4/10 of one percent on the nasdaq. markets will have to adjust this week. kicking into high gear. joining with a preview of what we can expect and how the season is likely to shape up, the senior index analyst, tracking the stats and the numbers for us. season, weto this have had a lot of companies coming out ahead of time and cutting their forecast. it does not seem to bode well, but it also could mean companies then come in slow with forecasts. it could, -- >> it could, but they're going from 80 to 85 coming down to 82. they are not coming down to 60 or $.70. when you look at the impact on index level, we are down 2.6% off september estimates for the quarter. they have not come down but estimates are more negative coming out.

more negative and positive but no impact. class a focus on sales rather than earnings. now showly have to actual demand and sales growth. what are you predicting on that front? >> mind -- minus sales growth downers, what even the top- are showing, concerning because it is pushing the margins into another wreckage. different than the rest of the world, seems to be able to push more into the bottom on. sales have not grown. , it isd to pick one item the sales. they cannot continue to squeeze more ever.

it is not as much on the sales. if we get a one percent increase over last year, it should be good. retail numbers look like the sales numbers may not be that great. earnings, four percent gain over the last quarter, the fourth consecutive quarter of earnings. 2013 is going down as a very -- cashnings or flash flow number. the company is in good shape for that. it is the sales that are not. >> in terms of the higher-margin earnings, it sounds like you think technology will continue to be an out performer. >> yes. it is definitely the one to watch now. they account for 21.5% of all earnings coming out. they have an 18% margin on there. they will really dominate a lot of where you will be now. that is definitely the group to watch as far as the earnings growth -- earnings go.

>> quickly, i know last year, one of the themes was margin expansion. that was one of the things we saw helped fuel the rally. in terms of that cycle as we head into 2014? >> the fourth quarter will look another.ay be 2014 will all depend on whether companies get the increases in sales. if they do, they will go up. ,he first half of the year second quarter, if things go well and they want to expand, those margins will go down. we will complain about it. >> i am sure we will. we appreciated. we will be on the markets again in 30 minutes.
