shows you the end, a lot of red although it is unchanged. more details. shares up in seoul, handily beating. m/samsung sun beating earnings and investors are enthusiastic on a south korean report. they are out with a report that the first quarter operating profit may top 5%, rising more than 5%, according to the korean economic daily newspaper. this would be above what the analysts are expecting in the quarterin the comparison first quarter drew the fourth quarter of last year and analysts are estimating a more than 3% gain. in operating profit. that would take it to 5.6 trillion, more than $5 billion.

reaching the 2% inflation target. the next guest has been an official and says they should scrap the target. he is an economic professor at tokyo university. abenomics will take more time, we are told will it or have they got it all wrong -- told will take more time. will it or do they have it all wrong. it is away from the boj target. they're ensuring that something is going wrong and some people have already started to say but it is almost impossible to achieve the target and the boj should avoid, should give up achieving the target. however, i am not that much pessimistic about it and i do believe that the boj should achieve the target and they can do that in some way. rishaad: even if they do achieve

the target, does it mean that everything else in the japanese will fallob -- jigsaw into place? watanabe: let me put it like this. if you look back at the inflation will rate before -- inflation rate before qe started, it was 5% in march 2013 before the qe started. however, when inflation started inincrease after that, 1.5%, april 2014, i think there was a big improvement in the consumption inflation rate. i think this was mainly due to qe. in this case i think qe was effective in stopping the inflation. rishaad: ok but will it be

jason: i think you have some idiosyncratic and the dollar has moved around a lot, a lot of rotation. i look at the euro and what you do know is the relative size of the balance sheet and the europeans are going to be printing more quantitative easing. sheetze of the balance is going up but we are in this as to whetherd the u.s. data is going to pick up but what we do know is that on the euro the balance sheet is expansionary. we know from the short-term that the euro is going to be weaker. rishaad: and that applies to the yen? jason: same thing for the yen. with japan we are in this middle. then where did it -- middle period where the data is neither

good or bad enough. volatility, we see that not do much for the time being. i think where the action is remains europe. rishaad: let's take a look at what the readthrough is when it comes to equities because the general consensus last year was to get into the u.s. and then it was european equities. is it now a rotation into emerging markets and what do you do next? again, we love you look at expectations and we look at positioning data as the key for expectations, if something is crowded we know the expectations are high. when we look at the end we see that the expectations and positioning is low so it will not take much for the markets to do well because the expectations has been so poor. when you look at something like question, the 30 year europe has had a lot of inflows

but those inflows are into the big generic german inflows, the dax. what we have not seen is inflows to the under weighted and risky industries like italy and spain and that i think is where we will see the action in europe. they will massively outperform germany. liquidity has to come into europe and some of that will diversify to the periphery. rishaad: again, those that liquidity find its way to the asia-pacific -- does that liquidity find its way to the asia-pacific? jason: i think so. we like hong kong at the moment, particularly h shares. you follow if policy, policy, policy and avoid where things get overheated you can make some decent and safe returns in china. at thee is one place moment it will be the pboc and

a nice pop for samsung. samsung, according to the korean economic daily, may report a 5% increase in quarter on quarter operating profit. that could be well ahead of what analysts expected. consensus for the first quarter, operating profit of 3.2% increase. that would be on the order of 5.2 9 trillion yuan, about 5 billion u.s. dollars. the take away is that samsung is returning to profits after a very difficult year. as it saw apple come out with new products and intensify competition. samsung has come out with its own products, the s6, the popular smartphone, with cool new designs unveiled in barcelona a few weeks ago. they expected to sell well. and other business lines are already doing well. of theductors, parts television business, and other
