will be streaming the action on bloomberg politics.com. who am when i cast of stars was the most out of line? mark: the guy i am watching his marco rubio. his team is underrated. it is one of the strongest teams any candidate has put together. rubio might end up being a better cultural fit in a political force in south carolina then new hampshire and iowa. john: i would have said marco rubio would be my call, but i like to disagree with you. today, i will choose scott walker because right now, if he had to pick a front runner just based on polling, scott walker is two of the head of the field. you can see marco rubio coming up fast. all are has not had a big moment in weeks. he has to try to re-seize the momentum or he will see himself eclipsed by rubio. jeb bush is already hovering in

the wings. mark: another guy not in south carolina is john kasich. he is in columbus today. we are reporting that he is having a big powwow. other big figures in the party end his local columbus team our meeting. he will be a plenty of other events. john: we both think john kasich and be a big player in this case. rick snyder deciding not to run, opens up the field a lot in terms of midwestern money. i would think this of the more tempting for john kasich with rick snyder out. mark: no question. specifically, money from michigan. as we said, another name missing from the freedom summit is jeb bush, the former florida governor will give a

commencement speech at liberty university. the school famously founded by jerry falwell, and also well takers announced he was running for president. jeb bush has rehearsed this speech, it is a big one. and exert released says how big a deal they think it is. he is going to say, whenever the need, the affliction, or the injustice, there is no more powerful or liberating influence on this earth than the christian conscious in action. why is this so important to his candidacy? john: bill, what do you think about this? bill doesn't have a view. i will take his proxy and say we have seen polling and see that he has problems with conservatives. we have seen it in recent polling. he has to figure out a way to connect to the conservative

days. he has not been able to do that. it is not just a question of common core or immigration, it is something deeper. this is a way to open up a visceral connection with the people that make up the core of the republican base. mark: the only way he can erase the dominant narrative of presidential family is with a compelling narrative that bill clinton had, that barack obama had. his most compelling narrative is his state and how his state infuses public policy ideas. this speech is going to be a lot about his christian faith and what role he thinks it plays in the world. watch to see the level of performance they wanted to show his heart. john: we will beat another exit. -- we will read another excerpt.

bush and then a full day of speeches in south carolina. speaking of jeb bush fundraising has dwarfed his republican rival. hillary clinton got in on that action this week as she started schmoozing potential donors to her super pac. the differences -- hillary has to be more careful about asking for china or miss checks. -- ginormous checks. between jeb bush and hillary who is in the better positioned to be the fundraising kingpin or queen pin? mark: she is already raising hard dollars for her own campaign. jeb bush is keep raising super pac money. if you think this race will come down to clinton and bush, who can raise more in giant contributions, jeb bush still has the advantage of republicans, billionaires, and

multimillionaires who are poor inclined to write gigantic checks than democrats. right now, i think hillary clinton has her work cut out for her to raise those big checks. john: i think it may be true that -- we know democrats are loath to give super pac's. in the end, i am with david axelrod. there is only so much money the system can absorb effectively. spending the money effectively is all that really matters. what mattered was how the obama campaign spent its money, not who had the most. jeb bush and hillary clinton will have enough money that money will not matter anymore. mark: i think it's possible that you could see the republican side really breaking out. if people start going negative on hillary clinton now she is not going to be in a position to defend herself for it people say she does not have the nomination fight. jeb bush is going to fight it out. it could be that there is a lot of koch money spent against her

now. john: we will see. there is no doubt, she will take it from all sides. in the end, i have never seen a situation where the clintons have ended up on the short end of a money war. it has never happened before. mark: wake up early on sunday for our number politics college poll of new hampshire voters. a lot of intrigue stuff -- interesting stuff will come out of that. our not to keep government. who in the world of sports is the worst person in the world? your choices are arods, john skipper or whoever made this horrible video for the cleveland cavaliers. who is the worst person in the world? john: you were giving me the choice between a cheater and a scumbag i guy who didn't have much patience for simmons' moments. i got to say, the worst person in the world is the cleveland cavaliers. if there is anything that sports teams should be responsive to it is questions about sensitivity toward domestic violence. that cleveland cavalier video, horrible. it is the worst. mark: got to go with the video. the world of professional sports, how it could be that something like that could get made at a time when, quite rightfully, we have had this much focus on domestic violence. it is insane. john: you've got budweiser

mark: ring that bell, rick snyder! here are three things that we know about governor snyder. he loves to water ski, he loves smoked meat and he is not running for president. he decided he would not do that after he failed to get a tax measure passed in michigan. how close did governor snyder actually get to getting into the race? here to answer the question, is governor rick snyder. great to see you. governor snyder: i had to give your third thing, you only had to. john: you decided not to run, a lot of people thought you were going to get in, why did you write not to? governer rick: michigan is the comeback state. i am proud of that. we have done tremendously well. i want to make sure that the things we have done continue on.

we have major historic issues that need to be resolved. i was elected to be governor of michigan. i think it is important to make sure i do that job right. john: presumably, but you considered running, uber governor in michigan and that job is important. i want to get into a little bit of the thinking that got you there. let me ask you about the tax measure. soundly defeated. a lot of people thought it would have trouble getting past. you thought it was going to pass. what happened there and had about play into the presidential run? governer rick: i propose there is plans to solve problems, but i was not able to get legislative support. i did this together with the legislator in a positive way. from a policy perspective, there are a lot of good things to this plan. when you sign up to be part of a team to do a plan, i want to make sure it happened great and it didn't. john: did you think it was going to get past? governer rick: i believe in

positive action. that is the way you have to approach these things. the way i view it is it did not pass. they should be a constructive solution. this is the first time i have had challenges and office. this is part of the job. i told my team when i was first running for office, if everything we worked on worked and that we were not doing our job. you have to have the courage to say if you want to innovate and make things happen, you cannot just be safe. john: one more question. let's talk about the linkage here. the history will show that this ballot initiative went down and that he decided you were not going to run. many people think there is a connection. for the sake of history -- you would have been at serious contender. take us through that 72 hours. john:governer rick: it was a question

of looking at the issues we needed to work on. we need to solve the transportation issue. i am very active on public schools right now. i just did an energy message. we are doing awesome things for message and the environment. i am doing a criminal justice message. the most exciting thing for michigan's economic future is to bring back skilled trade. this is a huge national problem. in terms of not having people with career technology education backgrounds. that is what if my top priorities. literally, that can improve the quality of life for michiganders and send a message to the nation , this is how you can deal with growing the pie, helping with income disparity, so i'm excited about being governor. john: i feel that energy. mark: we are excited about you being governor. i do want to paint you down a bit under consideration for

presidential run. from what we heard it was much more extensive and significant in serious than you have let on in public. i want to run you through some of that. it is true that you had a extensive series of meetings about what a campaign would look like? governer rick: let me encapsulate the whole thing. i did a fair amount of homework. i talked to people who had been involved in previous campaigns because i appreciate their thought processes. at the same time, i kept the eye on the ball to make sure we were doing good in michigan. i am a good nerd, so i did my homework. mark: part of that homework involved figure out how much money you would need to raise. we heard that you had tentative dates to announce candidacy on july 7, is that true? governer rick: i view that is speculation. i never set down and said, this is the day. people talk about a lot of things in the process. there may have been people trying to give me advice giving

me dates, but i didn't stick to any day. i had to go through the exercise adjusted. mark: so you weren't planning a run you were just doing homework. is it the case that until this week, you were inclined to run for president and this big you decided not to? governer rick: this is the week i announced i made a decision because, it is one of those things that, in terms of people talking about the subject matter, it is a good way to highlight michigan. brought attention to the state of michigan. mark: with all due respect, this is the week you announced it. as john said, this is also the week your efforts to find a way to pay for roads in michigan went down. how it should be not see there is some linkage there, given that, up until this week, you seemed to be moving ahead with fundraising plans announcement plans, scheduling plans for a presidential campaign. there must be some linkage, it

would seem. governer rick: i wouldn't necessarily john a conclusion. what it means is i had a series of issues. i thought they were important issues for michigan. the transportation issue is one of several issues that are part of the consideration. mark: i will try one more time. what do you announce at this week? governer rick: the speculation was becoming a distraction from doing my job as governor of michigan. i want to tell the michigan story. i think it is a great story of our come back. i think it is a model for the country. i believe we need to problem solver in washington. i want to continue that dialogue, but i think it has more credibility by just clarifying things i saying i am not running. there is an important message going on in michigan and will continue to be important in a national dialogue to see what a great place we are. mark: some michigan is going to be an important state.

now there is a big republican field. somebody trying to get to be the nominee. when you look at the field, what do you think about that field? who -- eventually somebody will ask you for your support. do you have any ideas about who you are bidding towards? governer rick: that would be premature. i'm just getting over this phase of you guys asking me all of that. let's take a break from that. the main thing we do -- my view is -- somebody who will solve problems. this is that whole question -- i have my philosophy -- i positive action. someday can call it something else, but duty not new leadership and our country that is about not blaming, not fighting, saying, here is the problem, here is a solution, and moving forward. if you look at washington, nothing has gotten done. john, here is the illustration, i show people this. this is the list of michigan and our first four years. but with a list look like for washington, d.c.? john: that would be my empty palm.

governer rick: when people say it is not about fighting and blame, it is about treating people's families. john: you think that a governor and the set of skills a governor has would be better suited to running the country and somebody from the legislative background? governer rick: i think that is clearly true because of executive experience. candidates get picked because of personality, policy, and actually burning and being a good manager is critically important. mark: somebody who gave serious consideration to running, you are not currently thinking about running into dozens 16, which is still a to be president one day? governer rick: that is out there always. i'm governor until 2018. after that, i will have to do some career analysis. mark: a very good, very nerdy way to put it. thank you for coming on. thank you for everything. great to see you here in this

pimm: this is what i am taking stock of on this friday. america works. the job report shows employers added 223,000 jobs last month. the unemployment rate dropped to a seven-year low. alan krueger pointed to one concern from the report. >> i put more of my weight on the employment cost. i would like to see this measure rise. i think we can breathe a sigh of relief. pimm: the s&p 500 gained more than 1% following the jobs
