near the bataclan. what is the atmosphere like this morning? chris: ims ending -- i am standing near the site of the world attacks on friday night and as you can see we are down from the police and there is a very high level of excitement in the streets of paris tonight. you could still hear a lot of police cars driving by, and the crowds have shown a high level of excitement. earlier tonight on the republic square, where people were paying tribute to the victims, putting flowers and candles around the square, some firecrackers were heard, and that created a scene of panic, people running in every direction, asking where are they. nothing false --

connection in the paris terror attacks. at least two of the attackers lived in belgium, two rental -- sohave license plates ou the belgian connection is the focus of the investigation. at the moment the internal minister held a press conference, with is belgian counterpart, and said he will increase the population through the belgian intelligence -- have a listen. belgium and france are united in the fight against terrorism. is despicable attacks which had us on friday were prepared abroad, and a team of participants was mobilized on belgian territory, which could have benefited the investigation from help in france. at least seven people are being questioned as we speak in brussels.

we don't know exactly how many people, how many accomplices the attackers had in france, and belgium, elsewhere. we know, however, that the interim minister was speaking on national french television tonight, confirming that they originated in syria and had a network based in belgium. that is how the investigates and is shaping across europe at the moment. some of the terrorists originated from a neighborhood in brussels. this neighborhood is already known by the authorities -- this is where members, the terrorists who committed the attacks against the jewish museum last year came from. this is also where the guyoung man -- a huge cooperation here between the belgian and french authorities to identify having accomplices, having attackers,

exactly the attack. according to the international center of radicalization in london, belgium is actually the biggest contributor of fighters to syria and iraq. rishaad: caroline, thank you very much. caroline conan joining us live from paris. seven minutes past 11:00 in the evening. let's get over to italy and turkey, where ryan chilcote is and where g-20 leaders have been leading. ryan, how big of an issue are events in paris? ryan: huge. twoone now oeverver, day something all g-20 countries will be looking for. that is when they talk about the bread and butter issues. it has long been the focus of and boostinges growth, cutting unemployment on the agenda.

they plan to tackle climate change. last 24 hours, this was entirely consumed by conversations about paris, about terrorism, about syria, and about migration. the leaders dinner just finished. president obama just returned to his hotel after that dinner. again,s all about, syria, paris, terrorism, what to do about it all. that was the official dinner for the conversations, the official agenda for the conversations at dinner. you ask yourself -- does that mean that this was just a summit that has been derailed, focus was lost? i asked to the canadian prime minister and he told me no. he said that some of the economic issues they wanted to discuss our already agreed, and they are just ready to rubberstamp them. they are very focused.

some of the places they are making progress is funding for terrorist groups, also shutting down borders, even some thinking about how to reduce inequality and provide opportunity and places around the world, where that lack of opportunity may be fueling terrorism. but the biggest, perhaps, concrete example of focus was the russian american president sitting down, speaking for the first time since that russian jet was downed, or exploded, in the skies above sinai. they've met for the first time since the u.n. general assembly to discuss syria, a 35 minute conversation, an intense conversation. everybody that witnessed it said they had a very constructive discussion about what to do in syria, and agreed on a lot that was already agreed on by orrin ministers, -- by for an

where ibm am, no traffic. it looks like a military garrison. on saturday, they held a dry run, a mock terrorist attack. paratroopers came down from helicopters, storming the building in rehearsal. i think that is the sort of thing we will be seeing over the next few days. the majority of heads of state will be coming in tomorrow, a few coming in toward lunchtime, president obama and xi jingping and others will be coming at lunchtime. it is the first time in nearly 20 years the philippines is hosting this, arguably the biggest economic event under the current government. obviously, before the attacks in paris happened, they were already pulling out all the stops. you can imagine how tight security is at this venue and other places across the metropolitan area of manila. rishaad: thanks, david ingles

there. that is taking place in the philippine capital. they are expected to suffer short-term volatility, so we are having a look at avoiding risk in the key sentiment. nejra: it is expected to be a very ugly day for investors in our region. middle eastern markets were the first to react to these atrocities -- we saw dubai fall by 3.7%, its biggest fallen almost three months. if we can have a look at what the market is, down by 3.7%, egypt falling by 3.2%, the lowest level since december 2013. indexo saw saudi arabia's sinking the most in almost three weeks, down by 3%. we have also been tracking the bloomberg gcc, tracking the top

200 companies, and a closed at its lowest level since may, 2013. you can see that big slump that came through their on the intraday charts from yesterday. the attacks are really likely to spur risk aversion in our region. we can see already that new zealand is open, down by 7/10 of 1%. we will be watching when australia opens at the top of the next hour. we are seeing markets come off a pretty low basis. 1%, its indexes down by third straight weekly decline. what we are also expecting is this flight to safe havens. the japanese yen is already strengthening, the yen holding at 122. the euro one of the first currencies to react, cutting off lows it had seen, but it is still down against the dollar. then of course we are expecting

currencies like the aussie dollar to fall, you can see it holding at 71.24. and of course we are expecting bonds, expected to be falling. 3% on year yield is down the australia 10 year bonds and in the u.s. we are seeing it down by 2.3%. risk aversion will be the order of the day and the only positive news is that history has shown us the markets have been short-lived following other terrorist attacks. we will hear words coming through from policymakers in europe and from the fed. rish? rishaad: we will update you on the market action throughout this morning. australia will be next to come online at 10:00 a.m. sydney time, 45 minutes from now. what we do have is the harbor bridge.

rishaad: welcome back to our coverage of the attacks in paris on friday night. we have a long serving member of the french national family represented, and he is also the deputy mayor responsible for terrorism. what is the atmosphere like in paris and where were you when these attacks took place? >> when the attacks were beginning, i was in a charity assembly in yves. we were hearing the news on the
