sentiment on the last trading day of the week. the nikkei 225 is leading losses in the region. it has lost everything again to yesterday and even more by around 1%. that is a fluctuation coming through, the yen coming through having an impact as well with japanese equities. we have seen that index and the topix index reached highs on thursday trade. australia closing at the highest level since early august. it is down 0.2%. not surprisingly, the energy players in australia coming under pressure as well. there has been a pickup in new zealand. expectations of a rate cut in august really boosting the kiwi over the past couple of sections. this is up 0.25%. hong kong coming off a bull market territory we saw it into yesterday. one of the looking quite good. similar to australia, energy

players coming under pressure. in shanghai, we are seeing weakness to the tune of 0.3%. the cost was down 0.2%, is owned -- kospi is now in positive territory. pokemon noting going away, pokemon go continuing to influence the market. we are seeing nintendo shares of another 2% today, this is pokemon go officially launches in japan. it is available to download on ios and android. mcdonald's japan has stores that pokebe gyms, and stops. it will be collaborating with nintendo, so a big rise in there. sharp also coming under pressure, similar to what we are seeing in weakness in the overall market. this has been applied to safety,

so energy players coming off of the oil surge. and briefly having a look at the renminbi,n be, -- china fx outflows nearly doubled as we have seen the yuan weekend and outflow rose $49 billion in june from $25 billion in may according to goldman sachs regulations. rishaad: thank you very much. cleveland, scene in that is 10 a clock this thursday evening. trumpgets from -- ivanka introducing her father. trump, probably asked to link the virtues of her father like her siblings have. expecting donald trump to deliver one of the most important clinical speeches of his political career so far.

we have sasha issenberg joining us from the convention in cleveland. let's find out -- there must be quite, well, jangling ahead of that speech. ivanka is here introducing her father. it proceeded with some hiccups, these nights. business associates, family members introducing him, but there is a huge pressure on him to ties together the threads of what still remains an unconventional candidacy. it is the latest effort to still unify a party that as we saw last night when ted cruz came out and was booted from the stage for refusing to endorse trump, remains fractured about his candidacy. businesssasha,

speakers speaking earlier, we had the cofounder of paypal as well, saying he was proud to be gay, proud to be republican. proud to be an american here as well. all to gof set this in from the cultural wars and believe in donald trump to come back and build the nation up again. : it is something like we have never seen before. peter coming out and saying, very bluntly that he is proud to beget a, and talking about those -- proud to be gay. and the access to bathrooms, he called them fake and says they are distractions from talking about american economic decline, and the rest of the speech talked about bringing silicon valley said sally -- style ingenuity back to something that is backwards and broken. rishaad: trump is the big finale to the ups and downs. it will be touted as a big

success, but what will that report card really look like? : there are a lot of tactical failures. there is the debate that stretched on for several days over melania trump's speech and whether she had plagiarized, and some writer took responsibility for it. we had an episode last night were ted cruz really found himself literally booed off the stage. , but he isoor fight getting through a week of the convention. it is not having his party's nomination, but nowhere near the insurrection people expected a few weeks ago. so if he can complete this without any major distraction, this might not be the most elegantly staged a convention, but it was far from a disaster. rishaad: thanks a lot. joining us from cleveland, and now here in the studio is mark echols and, the chief executive

forum. this helps businesses monitor political and economic and commercial developments. quite something. >> it is something. rishaad: what would you say? >> this speech means a lot, because it will set the stage for what is going forward. rishaad: he has got to unify the republicans with this speech, which is tough, and he is also got to appeal to broader america as well. mark: that is the important part. he is unifying the base to some extent. he is in good shape, but can he expand, and can you deal with the doubts that still a lot of people seem to have about him in a lot of different areas? rishaad: no one expected him to be this far anyway. the thing is, you have got hillary clinton also the present of nominee, no vice president yet decided upon, but is it

amazing how close they are? mark: very amazing. and the negative ratings for both of them, which are the highest in memory, or since these polls have been taken, part of it is distrust, the issues -- and so, it is very unpredictable. rishaad: in the 2008 election, ama said she was likable enough. say statusrd someone quo has been turned on its head, and that is a good description of what we are talking about. very difficult to decide what is going to happen next. tonight is important. rishaad: so we have got his daughter, the family very involved as a whole, the donald trump campaign. quite clever politically to some extent, and the notion of family, which will get to the heartland and roots of the

religion party. true, but it is a very interesting party. different mothers, different backgrounds and so on. so it does emphasize that as well. that does not go well with americans. rishaad: the policy, general bits, general controversial headlines or than anything else, no concrete policy proposals by the trump campaign to really speak of. has been very unclear. the most recent interview publicized with the new york times a couple of days ago on foreign policy, where he basically questioned the alliances the united states has, and we have to test people whether they are really contributing in a substantial way, i think that is worrying for people outside of the united states. not so much inside. rishaad: of course you will be with me as the speech is going on, giving analysis.

let's have a listen to her, because she is speaking to her father's values, his work ethic, that is what she is alluding to at the moment. >> you will see him talking to painter, thee engineers, the electricians. he will ask them for their feedback. if they think something should be done differently or could he done better, when donald trump in charge, all that counts is ability, excellence. [applause] ivanka: this has long been the philosophy of the trump organization. there are more female than male executives. women are paid equally for the work that we do, and when a woman loves another, she is supported, not shut out. [applause]

ivanka: women represent 46% of the total u.s. labor force, and 40% of american households have female primary breadwinners. $.83 forwomen made every dollar earned by men. single women without children earned $.94 each dollar earned by a man, where is married mothers made only $.77. noticed,chers have gender is no longer the factor creating the greatest wage discrepancy, motherhood is. as president, my father will change the labor laws that were put in place at a time when women were not a significant portion of the workforce. and he will focus on making quality childcare affordable and accessible for all.

[applause] ivanka: as a mother myself of three young children, i know how hard it is to work while raising a family, and i also know i am far more fortunate than most. .merican families need relief policies that allow women with children to thrive should not be novelties. they should be the norm. politicians talk about wage equality, but my father has made it a practice at his companies throughout his entire career. ivanka: americans need an economy that permits people to rise again. a trump presidency will restore the great american tradition of giving each new generation hope for brighter opportunities than those of the generation that came before. in donald trump, you have a candidate that is the difference tween wanting something done and making it happen. when my father says that he will build a tower, keep an eye on the skyline. floor by floor, a story structure will appear, usually record and its height and iconic in his design. real people are hired to do real work. vision becomes reality. that he willr says make america great again, he will deliver. year to reclaim our heritage as a country that dreams big and makes the economy -- and possible happen. fortunately, donald is incapable of thinking small. when i was a child, my father always told me, ivanka, you are going to be thinking anyway, you might as well think big. as president, my father will take on the golden site. he will be unafraid to set lofty goals, and he will be relentless in his determination to achieve them. america, ill over say, when you have my father in your corner, you will never again have to worry about being let down. he will fight for you all the time, all the way, every time. with equity -- equal pay. mark: emphasizing women, a weakness for him. polls show that in polls, 60% of women have doubts about donald ivanka saying is the right things, having a track record herself, and trying to modify the views of some women about her father. if he is not successful with that art of the voting public -- part of the voting public, he will not be successful. rishaad: he says he does this essentially. mark: i think a lot of her role is to talk to that particular segment of the voting public that is important to him and anybody that wants to be elected president. rishaad: he will be one president who will be bipartisan, but nobody says they are not going to be. mark: it depends on the other party as well and what happens. rishaad: i think that bipartisanship she is sitting at the moment is really something

-- saying at the moment is something he will do with whatever he likes, to fulfill his goals. mark: what she is saying does have some legs, because he actually has been supporting democratic candidates as well as republicans. in fact, nobody really knew what he was before, whether he was democrat or republican, so he has experience on both sides. rishaad: stick around with us as we hear now from ivanka. ivanka: find a mission and give it to and from mary he will see it all the way through, to speak to every man and every woman of every background in every part of this great country to earn your trust and earn your vote. i loved and respected him my entire life, and i could not be more proud tonight to present to you and to all of america, my ,ather and our next president

enforcement. 17% ines increased by america's largest cities. but of the largest increase in 25 years. increases the largest in 25 years older killings have increased in baltimore. in the president's hometown of chicago, more than 2000 people have been the victim of shootings this year alone. almost 4000 have been killed in chicago since he took office. the number of police officers killed in the line of duty has risen 50% compared to this time

last year. nearly 180,000 illegal immigrants with criminal records ordered deported from the country are tonight roaming free to threaten peaceful citizens. [booing] the number of new illegal immigrant families who have crossed the border so far this year already exceeds the entire total from 2015. they are being released by the tens of thousands into our forunities with no regard the impact of public safety or resources. [booing]

one such border crosser was released and made his way to nebraska. there, he ended the life of an innocent young girl. route.arah she was 21 years old and was killed the day after graduating from college with a 4.0 grade point average, number one in her class. releasedr was then second time, and he is now a fugitive from the law. . met sarah's beautiful family but to this administration, their amazing daughter was just one more american life that was not worth protecting. no more. [booing]

sacrifice ond to the order and on the altar of open borders. what about the economy have your i will tell you the plain facts that had been edited out of the facts. one in 10 african-american children are are inin -- four in 10 poverty, where 58% are now not employed. are inon more latinos poverty today than when president obama took his oath of office less than eight years ago. people haveillion left the workforce entirely. household incomes are down more than $4000 since the year 2000.

that is 16 years ago. our trade deficit in goods reached nearly, think of this, think of this. our trade deficit is $800 billion. think of that. last year alone. we are going to fix that. [applause] the budget is no better. president obama has almost doubled our national debt to more than $19 trillion and growing, and yet, what do we have to show for it? our roads and bridges are falling apart. our airports are third world

condition, and 43 million americans are on food stamps. now, let us consider the state of affairs abroad. not only have our citizens , buted domestic disaster they have lived through one international humiliation after another. one after another. we remember the images of soldiers being forced to their knees by iranian captors at gunpoint. this was just prior to the signing of the iran deal, which gave back $100 billion and gave us absolutely nothing.

it will go down in history as one of the worst deals ever negotiated. came whenmiliation president obama drew a redline in syria, and the whole world knew it meant absolutely nothing. in libya, the consulate of american prestige around the world, was brought down in flames. america is far less safe, and the world is far less stable than when obama made the decision to put hillary clinton in charge of america's foreign-policy. booing] [chanting]

let's defeat her in november, ok? [applause] i am certain that it was a decision that president obama truly regrets. her bad instincts and her bad judgment, something pointed out by bernie sanders, or what caused so many of the disasters unfolding today. let's review the record. [applause]

in 2009, three hillary -- pre-hillary, isis was not even on the map. wasa was stable, iraq seeing a big reduction in violence, iran was being choked by sanctions, syria was somewhat under control. after four years of hillary clinton, what do we have? isis has spread across the region, and the entire world. libya is in ruins, and our ambassador and his staff were left helpless to die at the hands of savage killers. egypt was turned over to the radical muslim brotherhood, forcing the military to retake control. iraq is in chaos. is on the path to

nuclear weapons. syria is engulfed in civil war, and the refugee crisis threatens the west. after 15 years of wars in the middle east, after trillions of dollars and thousands of lives worsethe situation is than it has ever been before. this is the legacy of hillary clinton, death, destruction, terrorism, and weakness. [booing] but hillary clinton's legacy does not have to be america's legacy. the problems we face now, property and violence at home,

-- poverty and violence at home, war and destruction abroad, will last only as long as we continue relying on the same politicians who created them in the first place. a change in leadership is required to produce a change in outcomes. [applause] tonight, i will share with you .y plan the most indifference -- important difference between our plan and that of our opponents is that our plan will put america first. [chanting usa]

americanism, not globalism, will areur credo as long as we led by politicians who will not put america first, then we can be assured that other nations will not treat america with respect, the respect that we deserve. [applause] the american people will come first once again. [applause]

my plan will begin with safety at home, which means safe neighborhoods, secure borders and perfection -- protection from terrorism. there can be no prosperity without law and order. [applause] on the economy, i will outline reforms to add millions of new jobs and trillions in new wealth that can be used to rebuild america. a number of these reforms i will outline tonight will be opposed by some of our nation's most powerful special interests. that is because these interests

have rigged our political and economic system for their exclusive benefit. believe me, it is for their benefit. [applause] big business, elite media and major donors are lining up behind the campaign of my shenent, because they know will keep our rigged system in place. they are throwing money at her because they have total control over every single thing she does. theys their puppet, and pulled the strings. [applause] that is why hillary clinton's message is that things will never change, never ever.

message is that things have to change, and they have to change right now. [applause] every day, i wake up determined to deliver a better life for the people all across this nation that have been ignored, neglected, and abandoned. i have visited the laid off factory workers and the communities crushed by our horrible and unfair trade deals. these are the forgotten men and

women of our country, and they are forgotten, but they are not going to be forgotten long. [applause] these are people who work hard but no longer have a voice. i am your voice. i have embraced crying mothers who have lost their children because our politicians with their personal agendas before the national good. i have no patience for injustice .

usa]ting how great are our police, and how great is cleveland?

[applause] thank you. justiceo patience for -- in justice, government incompetence, no sympathy for leaders who failed or citizens. when innocent people suffer because our political system lacks the will or the courage or the basic decency to enforce our laws or still worse, has sold out to some corporate lobbyists for cash, i am not able to look the other way, and i won't look the other way. and when a secretary of state has a private server, deletes 33,000 of them so the authorities can't see her crime, puts our country at risk, lies about it in every different form and faces no consequence, i know that corruption has reached a level like never ever before in our country. [applause]

when the fbi director says the secretary of state was extremely careless and negligent in handling our classified secrets, i also know that these turns -- terms are minor compared to what she actually did. they were just used to save her from facing justice for her terrible, terrible crimes. [applause] in fact, her single greatest committingent may be such egregious crime and getting away with it, especially while others who have done far less have paid so dearly. [applause]

when that same secretary of state rakes in millions and millions of dollars trading access and favors to special interests and foreign powers, i know the time for action has come. [applause] i have joined the political arena so that the powerful can no longer beat up on people who had cannot defend themselves. nobody knows the system better than me. [laughter]

which is why i alone can fix it. [applause] i have seen firsthand how the system is rigged against our citizens just like it was rigged against bernie sanders. he never had a chance, never had a chance. but his supporters will join our movement, because we will fix his against issue, trade deals that strip our country of its jobs and strip us of our wealth of the country. kansas, michigan, and tennessee. [booing] police wereore ,unned down in baton rouge louisiana. three were killed, and three were very, very badly injured. -- an attack on law enforcement is an attack on all americans. [applause] i have a message to every last person threatening the piece on our streets. and the safety of our police.

when i take the oath of office , i will restore law .nd order to our country believe me, believe me. i will work with and appoint the best and brightest prosecutors and law enforcement officials to get the job properly done. in this race for the white house , i am the law and order candidate. the irresponsible rhetoric of our person who has used to the post of the presidency to divide us by race and color has made america a more dangerous environment than i have ever -- and anybody in this room has ever watched or seen. this administration has failed america's inner cities. remember, it has failed america's inner cities. weeks ago in orlando, florida, 49 wonderful americans were savagely murdered by an islamic terrorist. this time, the terrorist targeted lgbtq community. no good. and we are going to stop it.
