it is all about coins that were the 1930's.pe in what happened in that time? we were in the middle of the and banks weren, failing. by the hundreds, by the thousands. it is estimated that in 1933 alone, there were about 4000 bank failures, and this was affecting millions of americans. it was truly a catastrophe. a lot of americans were understandably pulling their money out of the bank before it failed and they were buying gold coins. you know, they were buying gold coins because they figured, you , if, if our economy crashes our economy crashes, these gold coins will always be worth something. to a lot of people, they were pulling their money out of the banks and putting them into gold

examples struck and this coin is quality. these are extremely large, heavy coins. 25% heavier than a morgan dollar. today areave for you smithsonian quality. if you go to the smithsonian and in the their 1874 cc smithsonian, home of the greatest coin collection in the world, the example in the smithsonian is an extra fine 40. today, have examples , superior to the smithsonian example. these coins should not exist. the executive order, everybody had to turn in their gold.

the men proceeded to melt all those -- mint proceeded to melt all those gold coins into gold bars. they melted well over 50 million gold double eagles back down into gold bars. minted wereotal melted down into gold bars. the only reason these have survived is because of some enterprising individuals who shipped some gold over to european banks where they could store their life savings and european banks, where it was legal. haveis the only reason we these coins today. they should not exist. if not for a few enterprising individuals. have is the only bag to come out of the great of then bank horde liberty double eagles. these coins are so rare. gold double eagles were struck

at five different mints. philadelphia, denver, carson city, and new orleans. san francisco and philadelphia struck the lion's share of all the liberty gold double eagles. over 100 million coins. and you can see how many have survived in gem condition. 761 from san francisco. almost 9000 from the philadelphia mint. struck 1.5mint only million coins but that is because the denver mint did not open until the early 1900s. they struck liberty double eagles in 1906 and 1907. 163 survivors in ms 65 condition. the new orleans mint at the

bottom were only struck for 12 years and that was mainly in the 1850's and 1860's. so there are very few survivors in ms 65. in fact, there was only one survivor certified by ngc. carson city mint struck 19 different years, but again, that carson city mint was a tiny little mint. in all those 19 years, they only struck a grand total of 864,000 coins. and again, the majority of them were melted down. there are very few survivors. we have this one bag. there is not a single carson city liberty gold double eagle that has been certified in ms 65 by ngc. it is the rarest of all the mints in high-grade mint state condition. as far as the survivors of the 1874 cc, some of the double

eagles we have offered over the haveseveral years, and we them ranked in terms of their condition rarity. examples arecommon ranked at the top. 24 p is the most common. certifiedthe combined population totals, all grades. down the list, and then, here we have at the very bottom the 1874 cc type two. 2695 coins certified in all grades. there are no 65. the highest grade ever was ms 62. and here we have the 1874 carson city 52. this is a big deal, folks. i will price these in a minute.

first, you need to know the difference between the type to end the type three. their very first gold double eagle struck in 1850 for what we call the type one variety. and you see the united states of america at the top. these were struck from 1850 to 1866. right after the civil war, congress passed a law recommending that in god we trust be added to all of our united states coins. and in 1866, they added in god we trust right above the eagles ,ead, the liberty double eagle and this is what we call the type to variety. this is the coin we have today of the carson city gold double eagle. now, these type two liberty double eagles were only struck for a very brief period, from 1866 to 1876. 1877, they made one final design

change. they added $20. and these were the liberty double eagles struck until the end of the series in 1907. the great majority of liberty double eagles that you find are the type three variety. now, the type two are the rarest of all, in high-grade condition. now., call in we have a limited number of these coins. extremely rare. they only struck a grand total , and again,xamples so many were melted down. you can see how rare these coins are in any condition. you take the greatest morgan dollar rarities, 1880 nine cc, 350,000 struck, and at the very bottom, the 74 cc, and you know the history of the coin. so many melted down.
