morning. down 27 points today. apple is down about 5%. that is it for us tonight. thank you so much for being with me. hope you will follow me. don't go anywhere. fast money begins right now. >> let's talk apple this morning. we are expecting solid numbers from apple. >> apple beat by 10%. this will be an all time record second quarter earnings. because you're worried about a five% dezin. >> i am going into this with a bullish outlook. >> people are still waiting for a new product. i'm not going to stay place your

line in the sand but i'm not so convinced they will have a blow out number. >> let's get to the earnings of this quarter and that is earnings of apple. >> this is a classic example of what is going to happen in the near term and what do you do with it for the longer term. when you look for the next quarter, the iphone figure is going to be worse. you will probably see 22 to $24 million. we will continue to lag in anticipation of the iphone 5. you want to look forward to the
5:02 pm
december and march quarter. you are looking at them. you will then go to the iphone that has been launched in china. you will get figures there. the price of apple stock is going get lower. i am long. there is a very good value. i am not going to get out of it. i'm going to look for ads. six months from now you will be reporting iphone figures that are historic. >> apple investors will want to believe that this decline is because of pent up demand for the iphone. you can say that all the units missed the quarter will be red through into sales. at the same time it is a different story. this is a macro story. it is a slow down and a pull back in consumer spending. what's your concern there? >> well, you know, i am long the stock. so i don't like to see it down but i'm not that worried.
5:03 pm
it will be coming down in the next two quarters or so. i don't know that one quarter data will really tell us whether this is a macro trend or a realization of their own future sales. i also think that this valuation, you know, it's not as if we are looking at something like a buffalo wild wings. >> right. >> it's a very different kind of story. >> it is happening as we speak. >> everything that has been said is that these guys have 57% of sales in iphones. the i pod is a big deal. to me what is exciting is their emerging markets growth. that is what i do all day long. and, when i look at where apple sales have gone in the last five years, 7% international five years ago and you're now at 23%. that number is going significantly higher. that is without any new product releases. when i look at these numbers, as
5:04 pm
said, this is a fwroet stock. i don't believe that ibm is. with the exception of saying that this scares me. this is an unbelieve believably crowded trade. the market has been defensive in the contest of a global pull back. we saw a lot of things. if apple and the market falls. i think there is a bigger ramification especially for people who want to sell their flowers and keep their weeds. >> what market did anticipate the move is the options market. in terms of activity today, what did you see? >> you know, i's pretty interesting. individually where all the weekly calls. if you look at the biggest block trade they were primarily bearish. somebody put that thing on 1500
5:05 pm
times. so far that one is not in the money but it will be up money tomorrow. the important thing to remember with any technology company is that the party never lasts forever. the first time around for apple. and i think at some point you have to wonder whether they're going be able to keep it up. as far as the demand overseas it will not be there for europe. we see a lot of signs that the emerging markets are under pressure. i continue to be a little bit skeptical. i have been skeptical before and have been proven wrong time and time again. >> apple's impact in the afterhours session. about 120% of the nasdaq. it was a one off and beeel be okay. >> you're talking six months
5:06 pm
before the next product comes out. this is going to cause problems. it will cause problems for anybody who is long. i i think there are a couple of things. you asked the question will am tell us whether this is head winders a demand contraction. just as tim cook said on the previous earnings conference call, so optimistically, i would expect he would do the same thing this evening. he should be doing that. they have a con of capital and cash that they could put to work. that is a put under the market play itself. tennis and i dwis adwree. the view has to be a longer term view. really drives the valuation.
5:07 pm
and i don't think while in the near term you will see it move lower. this is a stock that you will see first on the list of names that people want to own. >> you mentioned cash. you mentioned cash. as of this quarter, that's up from 1 only 19 companies had market caps bigger than apple's cash holdings. that's an important part of the ev evaluation equation when you look at apple shares. >> if you back out that 120 of cash that makes the valuation here, you know, 11? request which ch is hard to say that is overdone the upside. so it's not available.
5:08 pm
there is plenty of cash that is here. i think -- guess i am a little confused. >> i think one is a potential temporary problem versus is the iphone over? >> are we calling this a cyclical stop? >> it has never been. that's the thing. >> it is immune. in large part. there is demand for apple products because they are apple products. they are in a sweet spot out there. >> i guess if i look at a lot of the companies that people are putting attractive multiples on, there are the same pressures. >> john? >> the call is pretty much just started. mentioned a couple of things. they have had the best quarter of u.s. education sales ever.
5:09 pm
counting that they have also said that they had their -- they drew down iphone inventory by 300 thousand units. and what's important about that is they had talked about inventory being up. you might have expected to see that come down a bit more. somebody else will be paying allot of attention. >> thank you. we will continue on the conference call and bring us updates. >> i don't believe that is the right strategy. why is ipad units sold better? and i think the geographic expansion that apple has talked about. they reached with the product.
5:10 pm
they have increased that to over 100. there is no reason to believe that they could not continue to expant. >> they are going. >> inside of the emerging market. five of the 363 retail stores are outside of the emerging markets. this is, again, an apple story where you don't have to have a huge impact from apple tv. this is why, i saw in the middle of the decemberic on this one. people will be shocked by this. it doesn't mean that the company is broken. i think there has been a lot of money that is hiding out. and actually may see the broader fwroet signals. i'm out. >> where they are trading on
5:11 pm
apple's results. what is the best derivative play right now. revenue coming at the top end of the range. the stock does look higher in the afterhours session. we had att and verizon already report today. would you -- >> i'm not going rim. i doubt there is feelings there. i wouldn't be going there. i would go into apple. that would be the play i would go to. >> on the overall market itself. you will see names like logic which is a second derivative trade. pull back on this. the question becomes what are you going to do with this. >> near field. >> communication. eventually the play there is you are thinking that analog chip will be the chip will be on the platform. it is already on the an droid
