>> you can see the entire episodes at the table. right now. whole series there for you. thank you so much for joining us. i'll see you tomorrow same time same place. fast money begins right now. >> risk on. back into the global markets. tells you where to find the best bang for your buck. fast breakthrough. why this stock may been on the verge of going even higher, following new advancements to treat an incurable disease. the ceo will join us live.
5:01 pm
>> first, let's get to our lead story. apple's earnings failing to interest the street sales. it turns out to be about 125 million shares, which is about 12, 15% of the float. if we lead net income and have that smaller shareholder base and we leave the pe multiple flat, that gets the fair value
5:02 pm
right there at 477, versus where the stock is. >> right. we're assuming no products necessarily. >> no new products. but they do continue to sell their current products. and no gross margin. still out of favor. the name. so to me, i like that capital allocation plan a lot. >> if they sell 25, 26 million iphones in the next quarter, do you still feel the same way? >> 25 or 26? that depends. did they not sell them. i think we'll see improvement in the ipad margins. i don't know about the mac and we may see iphone margins
5:03 pm
compressed. but i do think that, you know, eventually they will come out with something new. >> they are also supposed to be releasing the s 4 but they be short. samsung is still growing. these guys also have a huge semi conductor business. people talk about apple and it's the software company. i agree. that's one of the reasons why apple deserves a different multiple. we're talking value here. samsung is trading at three times ebitda compared to apple which is about four times and about nine times.
5:04 pm
>> one of my clients set said it to me and he almost fell over. >> when did you get long? >> between 400 and 440. remember i got long on the show? i got longer and then it was right below the level. i'm still staying in the name because i think at this point, all of the bad stuff has been
5:05 pm
thrown out.
5:06 pm
>> if you look at what apple has done, pete said it the last time he was on with you guys, that the issues with apple are number one, steve jobs told you what you wanted. now tim cook has not been able to tell people what they want. >> and he's not steve jobs. >> he has not listened to what people want, either. >> they said they had 18 months in the pipeline. they thought they had new products coming through. that is over now. you are looking at it. they said they can't come out with a new phone. why not? i would rather be a buyer of google. google is where the money is going in. >> very quickly, it's very clear if you look at january of this year and the stock was averaging almost 40 million shares a day. now 15 million shares at a much lower price point. that's telling you the public is not all over this name like they
5:07 pm
were. >> 46% of shares are still owned by retail investors, which is much more than google.
5:08 pm
>> it proved much more successful than many thought. analysts have a hard time calling turns. this is due to basic behavioral investment. >> thanks for that. this is, i believe, a very
5:09 pm
shameful example of wall street analysts not doing their home work. for analysts to not question a stock that has such a pair bollic move. >> when they start talking about the soul of the apple, that's exactly the problem. they were basically smoking their own stuff on this. >> i'm curious. if you ever took a look at those notes and i'm sure you have. >> to not sell this. it's the same as buying it there. i clearly thought it was a value. what i really did not see was the pe compression to the level that it is now. i mean, these metrics are so
5:10 pm
cheap that i did not imagine that it could come here. we haven't seen the earnings change nearly as much as we have seen the pe multiple compress. >> right. >> so that was, to me, where i missed it. >> a few interesting items here that have an impact beyond just qualcomm. some of this coming from paul jac jacobs. qualcomm with windows 8 planned to take some share there. he said that that business is just meeting qualcomm's low expectations which is not saying a lot. here on the low end this was particularly interesting.
5:11 pm
he is saying they are in hundreds of devices. those device makers are turning around very quickly. about 60 days. you say he sees a huge variety of companies who are participating in that. not just the big names, though the big names are kind of strong. this is important for all the android players and apple as they try to sell the iphone 4 and those lower end devices into these markets, especially china.
5:12 pm
5:13 pm
5:14 pm
>> we have gotten a lot of
5:15 pm
movers in the afterhours session. also better than expected results. blowing through street estimates. let's take this first, tim. >> it's a name that i have bought around 23 on the way down. what i like about these numbers is not only have they affirmed and slightly improved but they kept 2013 capex. people are worried about the balance sheets of a lot of the companies. so i'm not telling you there is going be a major turn around. >> and the revenue as well as guidance for the next quarter
5:16 pm
all very strong i thought it was a crush. that's what i said when i put it out there. and the stock traded up three. it's holding that gain and it holds on to that tomorrow. >> amazon's quarterly earnings are -- a report claiming that amazon is jumping into the video streaming business and will release a television set top box this fall. what do you make of this set top box report? it doesn't make a on the of sense for them to be there. there is a real business around ekmars and they can focus on. >> what's the point of doing this? maybe creates more of an amazon eco-system around its devices?
5:17 pm
or some other lost leader for their content sales? >> they want to make it easier and easier for you to consume their content. and so, media is about 35% of their business. >> gene, if i had to go amazon or google right now, which way do i go? google has many more end roads. even though they are the cloud leader when the two of them are concerned. >> i think it is a hard bet against the ecommerce theme. there are so many themes like fiber and google will get into other areas that are exciting longer term. >> what are you expecting out of amazon tomorrow? >> the industry data, which i can run through.
5:18 pm
one side that was a little different, we're expecting them to guide down by 6%. with a strike and some bad press. i was recently in europe and heard a lot about that. the team is 7% of what is bought. amazon had a great position on that. longer term you still stay long this. >> i want to make a bridge here since we have you on the phone from amazon to apple. you know, when amazon went public, jeff told shareholders, it's all about the long term. do you think he needs to take a page out of the handbook?
5:19 pm
>> absolutely. if you look at how much google spends on r&d as a percentage of sales, 5 million in total, so there are things like that that i think does make sense. and ultimately i think we're going to learn a lot about what tim cook's long term play book was as they hinted to last night. >> you want to hear about his long term play book? >> i don't think we're going to be in a situation where apple will give us a good long term play book. i'm okay if we don't know the play book as long as they're working on one. >> do you feel like tim cook is dancing on the ledge here?
5:20 pm
he is enticing us with some vision but not giving us enough. >> i think he is saying what jeff is saying. be patient. we are in this for the long term. it's hard to come up with new products. i don't believe they're just starting to work on them now. we got to come up with something. >> here is a little bit of our play book. this is what you're paying for now. we need to know what products are coming down. >> i disagree. i think he shouldn't care where the stock trades in the short term, which is a different issue than the allocation of his cash, which i think he needed to address.
5:21 pm
>> he doesn't need to worry about where the stock is. >> it seems like a half baked attempt. they clearly listened to what the street has told them. >> on the cash. >> we got a pop. up 8%. >> this whole space remains challenged. >> this is a very competitive space. not a great valuation. >> weak staffing demand out of europe and that was something that gene just mentioned, not a
5:22 pm
staffing demand. but as far as demand in europe and if there is that read through from both of these compa companies that will be bad. >> and a pop for preservatives. some things get better with age and some things don't change at all. the doctors, and its owner says it plans to keep the burger has a lesson for his grandchildren. >> the lesson being what? don't eat this? >> don't eat this. >> i don't know what that lesson would be. all right. >> great. >> coming up next, zeroing in on one of the most active stocks

to provide companies with services... like helping hr departments manage benefits and pensions for over 11 million employees. reducing document costs by up to 30%... and processing $421 billion dollars in accounts payables each year. helping thousands of companies simplify how work gets done. how's that for an encore? with xerox, you're ready for real business.

>> zynga shares plummeting. julia is on the call and joins us live from la. hi, julia. insists he is still very confident despite giving a very weak outlook for q2. revenues or bookings are expected to decline. be much lower than projected.
5:27 pm
that's what really dragged down the stock. q1 results surprised on the upside on the top and bottom line. with 20 million dollars more than expected and earnings of a penny per share. the analysts had expected a loss. keep in mind that those earnings and revenue numbers declined from a year ago and fewer people played than the prior quarter and the average amount that users paid declined from q1 as well. there is a lot of talk about shutting down under performing games. >> versus what? >> they are talking about shutting down games that cannot become franchises. and they said one of the relationships why this quarter numbers were bad was because they had to -- they had invested a lot in games.
5:28 pm
>> we are in the green room frantically trying to buy the stock. you somehow managed to get your order through. and you were long. >> i was lucky that i didn't buy it when i wanted to buy it. because i wanted to buy it at 320 and i kept banging on the key. unfortunately, i have a fat finger and so i bought it at 305 and again at 286. i like zynga. i don't think this is about what they were but what they are going to be. >> what are they going to be? >> online gaming. so in other words, they just expanded into the uk for that. they're going to be doing the same thing in america. >> online gambling.

5:31 pm
right here. >> i guess i'm wondering what you would buy in china. >> when you're buying china you're not necessarily ignoring fundamentals. a play on oversold conditions on a world that people thought was falling apart. >> it's hard for me to argue can that. would i buy chinese stocks? if i had to, yes. are there places that are better? you're the emerging market guy. it is probably a better trade rush and probably a better trade. >> dennis, good to speak with
5:32 pm
you. >> check out the news. cut a quarterly dividend to 35 cents a share. >> i don't think that's a big deal. they were paying quarterly. >> not enough to make a difference. >> i don't think so. i think it's probably prudent and what people want to see. i would rather own it at half the price. if i'm going to be playing in the space. it's still a four plus yield. >> you would rather buy -- i guess i'm asking. would you buy because does this depend on your view on gold prices? >> i think we clearly have seen an oversold conditions start to

5:39 pm
>> this is a drug that is still being researched. the first place it would be used is patients with symptoms. you would not want to use it for people who did not have symptoms. over time, the goal would be to have the drug used earlier because if you have the gene, you're going to get the disease. and obviously the deterioration in the brain starts long before you begin to see the signs and symptoms of the disease. >> does this technology, is it applicable to other diseases? >> first, it's taken a long time and disappointments to make it real.
5:40 pm
>> this is discovery. the next step is to identify the specific drug that we want to take into clinical trials. that will happen sometime soon. and then you begin clinical trials, and in this case you will go directly into phases with huntington's. the other interesting thing that we're doing is we are likely to create a suite of drugs. >> so when will you rook lolook

suite just for huntingtons, is that block buster? >> sure. obviously the number of patients is small. >> thanks so much for coming by. fascinating and exciting technology. you have been looking at this stock and if there is a problem with these stocks it's that they have had tremendous runs over the past year. >> what a shame to be in a sector that is so red hot like the doctor is right now.

5:43 pm
>> you are nodding your head? >> yeah. and i think there are several things at work here. but quickly the price of coffee is now far less than half of what it was when it peeked in 2011 at $3.30. the question is how much have they locked in. and we will know more about that tomorrow. i love buying it on a dip. >> coming up next on fast money. >> and a company changing the way men groom. we're back after this.
