was always going to be tougher. >> can we leave it there and pick it up in the morning? >> of course. 10:00 a.m. >> it's time for "fast money" in just a couple seconds. >> the first investor in snap chat. the first guy who thought anything of snap chat? we've got him on and he will tell us what he thinks will be the next snap chat and why he's an investor in bitcoin. >> and i want to know what he thinks about instagram direct. i'm melissa lee, here's tonight's line-up. gold crush after three days in the red. gold is the real loser today. the metal down more than 2%. we'll tell you the stocks that could take a hit. the twitter stock exploding. but we've got the analyst who says to sell. and continue versy surrounding one of the best ipos of the
5:01 pm
year. let's get straight to our top story. >> i was talking to clients today. i want to see that tesla. guys mentioned that level as well, 1760 in the s&p cash. i think today could be the day we see a test and they all laughed at me. now that's not the first time they laughed at me. >> let's do it now. i do think we need to test that level. >> i thought it would make it there a couple weeks ago. so my time was clearly wrong.
5:02 pm
that's been, to me, i think that's trying to tell you something. i still think close below 175, that sets you up for mid 150s. to me, the real tell has been the russel. that's now underperformed since the end of november. that has made a series of higher highs and higher lows. i think the russell is something you really want to keep your eye on. >> today, it averaged? >> the last couple of weeks it has definitely underperformed. it's off 1.4% on the highs. i think europe on some level can be a leader. having said all of that, i think the culprit is retail sales.
5:03 pm
that number was much stronger and higher. i think that's where people are with this. if you look at one of the best, he thinks that the risk are to the upside. this is why this is an exciting time. >> you're saying right now we're in a good news is bad news sort of market? >> on friday we're all like good news. and it has not been good news for the market. >> the initial jobless claims was bad news? >> my understanding is this is an outlying number.
5:04 pm
job levels coming out in the next month. you look at things that are getting the view of the global economy it's better. >> you're buying citi today? >> yeah. we bought it around 1550. i'm not going to pick the bottom but i'm happy to own it. >> we talked about ibm on the show. granted you could go old tech new tech and old market new market. i still think there is is a place for that. >> you're looking at cyclicals.
5:05 pm
i would like to see you get knocked down a bit more. i think we're in a paradime shift. i don't think that anything has hit the valuation. i'm looking at cyclicals and commodities. i'm not buying gold. gold was the real lizard. pretty mixed. it with us suz spending because of gold's current price. in terms of capital spenlding and just production. and also they cut back on their dividend. >> they find themselves, if environment was perfect for the guys.
5:06 pm
they had arising prices. the s&p 500 was rallying. what do they do? do they hedge? put hedges back on? they can't push any buttons to make their stocks go higher. they are clearly having their meetings and they have no answers right now. >> they do have a little more control. they have a lot more control. when you think that the price of gold has bottomed and maybe it's not there, they do have supply control. everyone says why does it react better than the actual metal? the minors do. they hold their own des any. it does -- >> two to three to one meaning what? >> twice as much as the bounce. about 2.5 times the bounce.
5:07 pm
if gold rallies 2%. >> you're long. >> i'm long. when you look at it you hold goal as a small portion and it has become a smaller portion. but if you look long term you have to go back to december of 2008 to find these levels. i'm thinking about actually adding here. >> at 1200, a lot of analysts are saying that dividend continue to be at risk. you see maybe credit rating downgrades? >> it certainly leads to asset write downs and what they're doing is these guys are optimizing their products and cutting out bad capex. if we haven't gotten to a place like this, i think the kitchen sink is in there, too. i don't think that the gold miners who have been so beaten up and say oh my god it's cheap
5:08 pm
that's not why you're buying them. >> the first company that announces they're going to hedge, that could with be the signal you saw the rally that it had. the first folks to put it back on you might get a little bit of a tip. >> and already the co-chair has said, yeah, it's worth considering putting the hedges back on. >> the point you brought up from those who have debt on the balance sheet, the dividend goes first. >> they're in a very difficult spot. if you have it perform in the environment they have had, understood what set of circumstances can you perform? >> let's hit a major bright spot
5:09 pm
and that is tough lon twitter. in just over a month. it is up more than 112%. let's turn to brian weezer who thinks that twitter's record high days are numbered. >> we should be clear that you put accelerating on twitter at almost the exact wrong time at the beginning of december and that's just after the november lows here. at this point what do you make of the 22% increase in market cap value in just the past week? >> i thought it was really -- >> actually tweeted at that point. here is what is to me a very impressive about this move. it has come on enormous volume. ultimately today traded 23 million shares but this stock was averaging four or five million shares.
5:10 pm
>>'s audio. >> we were just saying that you actually put accelerating on twitter at the exact wrong time. >> anyone who bought at the ipo and sold made a lot of money. >> i understood it that you had put it on twitter at the end of november. >> no, no, no. we launched and after the stock opened at 45 we said sell. >> got it. in terms of the massive move that we have seen so far. >> yeah, well, first of all, let me say, twitter is an amazing company. fantastic management. wonderful traction. the problem is it's just simply
5:11 pm
overvalued. it probably has to. the amazing thing is that the stock running up this was announced in july. a pruk announced in july? you know? that's the problem. that doesn't mean there are not people trading it. if you tell me, if you can tell me that this company has $8 billion i get very comfortable in the valuation. >> you talked to a lot of institutional investors. tim was pointing out very heavy volume in this. >> are you getting the sense that your client base is buying
5:12 pm
the stock? i can't speak to the broader retail base. >> i don't think that very many people are doing what we would call fundamental research. if you look at the other analyst sentiment up there it's not exactly positive. we all love the company. i think it's a great business. >> brian, great to have you with us. thanks for your time. brian weezer of pivotal. so 20 analysts cover twitter. >> something went on today. >> something went on. and all of the sudden. >> >> this is four days running.
5:13 pm
>> how do we know this is not a break out divide? >> do you want -- it it could very well be. i still say that. you don't see an opportunity or day where the stock is down? >> i bought it today. which as a valuation, this is a twitter of china. >> coming up, first it was cl g cleon, and leon and now electra. you can see the company that 3d printed the aston martin in this movie scene. mine was earned orbiting the moon in 1971. afghanistan in 2009.

5:23 pm
a lot of people will hear three printers, that's not very many. what is your average selling price? especially considering you had to extend financing? >> average selling price is 500,000 euros. over the history of the company we did financing. finance something not our main target. >> and you don't plan to expand that at all? >> in selective cases we definitely do financing but we don't accelerate this. >> i want to talk about increasing servicing in the united states. at equals investor's mind

5:25 pm
that came out this week that they expect 3d printing would be big some day but right now it's such a tiny percent of what is actually manufactured and the time that it will take will be some time compared to valuations that companies like yours already has. >> i don't reflect on valuations. we concentrate on the execution. >> but in terms of the percentage how do you look at that market opportunity? >> you are right. if you talk about an industrial application, the conventional market and where we participate in today is almost nothing. so there is is a huge growth potential especially if you talk about high complex parts where we have a very high tooling costs and low quantities. we offered 8,000 euro on the biggest printer. we definitely can support industrial applications.
