in the oia to the xle. any of these names because the stocks don't have to defend the oil price. and i think that's what we saw. so i don't know if it was margin calls. i do think a lot of people felt the first 10% move down in oil was something they could tolerate. then people were stuck in long positions. if you look at 8175, this is exactly the level people were watching. we kissed that. and if you look at long term price of oil, this is where we're supposed to be. 2006 peak. this is taking out the blow off top of 2008 and i think this is a fair level to own oil. >> what is different this time away, hate to say it, is the role of the shale producers. we have a lot more producing out there potentially that needs to be either paired back or going higher. >> if you look from where we were back in 2006, there is probably 2.5 million more barrels being consumed a day. i don't know how much that offsets it. that's not enough to me. >> pete makes a great point in

terms of the mar begin cagin ca. today's action is worse than yesterday's. but with the bounce we saw, it should have followed through just like it should have followed through yesterday when we got through that level that we had talked about, that sort of 1904 level. and it faded. so today was disappointing in terms of the s&p. it feels as though i think 1863 comes into play. in terms of the xle and tim's point, this level, this $80 level is where we topped out at in 2011. but i'm sort of in pete's camp. it doesn't feel like we've put in a bottom yet and i happen to think -- i think tim and i disagree. i think it's extraordinarily deflationary. >> this stuff got down to the 8020 level hit in april 2011. the old resistance. i think it's hit it a few times. i'm clear on the other side of that. >> i agree with tim in that i look at the osx and it's similar to what he was saying about -- it just stopped going down.
