welcome back to "worldwide exchange." the wall street setup, stock futures down 28 points. s&p down 2. nasdaq down 3.5. remember, this is coming offer record closures for the s&p and nasdaq. anthony chan joins us to help set up the week. anthony, the macron victory by a larger margin than expected certainly removes a big hurdle for this market. what's next for you? >> what's next, of course, we got to see what happens in the parliamentary elections. we got to do the first round and second round. >> that's a market-moving event? >> i think it is, to the extent that macron is not able to get a grand coalition. we're hopeful that he'll be able to do that. hopefully nash hopefully, that grand coalition is-l will allow him to pick his parliament. but a lot of the polls basically predicted this. >> in terms of what this means for the euro, going forward, it
5:54 am
hasn't moving much today because it will run out but is it now already at the top end of its range? or are there reasons that we could expect it to rally significantly? specifically since the ecb is going to tighten. >> it's upward, in the 1.09-ish range. the next will be how anxious is the european bank to start tapering and how anxious to start tightening. it will be the next catalyst that will allow the euro to get stronger. >> on the flip side, the dollar has been weakest for four weeks in a low. jobs report, 11,000 job us as a. what does the market need to see in combination for this rebound? >> i think the market is looking for a little confirmation on what's going to happen with the tax package. i recently did research on what

happens to the equity market when you get a tax cut. what i found is if it's an above average tax cut, something in the neighborhood of 5% cut in a statutory tax rate, you get huge rebounds. 12.8%, two years after. even with a small bump, 0.8%. if it's below average, below average is something around 2%, you really don't get that much of a rally. >> one of the other things about that bothering stock markets state wide is slower gdp performance. the last couple of days, coming out of china, including the trade data, is that something to be concerned about? >> wilfred, you got to remember, what china is doing right now is trying to take some that leverage out of the system. we're going to see that in total finance numbers. we certainly have seen that a little bit in the export and import numbers. remember that right now, china
5:56 am
is on center stage. they have a plan over the next 100 days to essentially show that they're trying to play as nice global citizens. so, i don't expect those numbers to be all that impressive. but moving forward, we get global growth. we're projecting global growth somewhere in the neighborhood of 2.5%. improvement from last year. those numbers should start to pick up because of the global economy doing better. guess what china exports doing better. >> what messages are you getting in tellers terms of guidance? >> we're certainly getting close to double digits in terms of profits. the message is very positive. beating expectations by more than 4%. >> s&p closing at a record high on friday. anthony chan, thank you very much. what are you watching next? >> i think we're watching european markets which surprising soft rally.
