my dear wife has inherited shares of stocks from comcast and very vierizon these two companies are under great pressure from competitors, they suffer fatigue from customers and the changing sells on millennials who don't go home and watch cable. what's your take on these two stocks going forward >> my travel trust says comcast. it's really a powerhouse it had incredible portfolrofita cash flow. verizon, i think it's good it's fine, but you're right everything you said is true. the long knives are out for both stocks with the reports will come snap judgments and you're not going to make them you on the other hand will wake for the conference calls

sometimes the market loses its mind and you got to roll with the punches. look at what happened today with the reaction to the earnings in act vision blizzard in starbucks. i loved the conference call. so it stocked nicely in premarket trading i even forecasted on it for my mad dash on squawk on the street. it's better to expect from a company that had better time line starbucks on the other hand, i'm disappointed it gave a low term guide down from the growth path from a few years ago. the stock got slammed. but when the market opened this morning, act vision stock collapse while starbucks stock soared how is that possible it's all about expectations. when starbucks reported the

a big fan of break ups they're a great way for large complicated company to unlock value. and the flip side of a break up is a spin off. the smaller companies to get split from their larger parents. spin offs can create tremendous value for the same reasons they represent a part of the business that was underappreciated underfocused on and therefore undervalued. more important, becomes juicy bite size take over targets for other companies. we saw this happen with asul that it's been under performanced as of late. the stock shot up to the roof later. not every spin off is a success, but if you know what to look for, a good spin off can become a big winner

let's talk about what works in a spin you've-off -- spin-off back in 2013, ir spun off a security business as ali on. a-l-l-e worked think what mechanical locks and electronic security. it's a larger complicated company braking off a smaller business so it can focus on growing the business as an independent company. i pounded the table hard in order for you to buy ali on. ir is up 47% since that segment. the stock spill up 29% since i recommended it i wish i had told you to sell before the latest quarter because a week ago the thing was up 38%

next one chemor s. this is a business that was done by miss coleman. they were trying to fight off an idea so they spun this one off i recommended the speculation in 2015 both because it's a business that mixes with toothpaste right. my only refwret with this one i didn't pound the table harder. it fell from $7 to 55. monster crushing the performance in the market. then there's fortiff the industrial business that was spun-off in last of last year it's part of dancer's efforts to focus on the fast quarter. i have to t admit i got there

one backwards. right after this happened i recommended dan hurt i told you it seemed to risky, bad. in july of 2016 that made sense. with the benefit that was a -- it's selling like crazy and the stock's up 43% since the segment. dan hurt that's had a lot of problem with its dental provision. it really paid off and i slouf stuck to my it in knitting in october of last year johnson control spin off its businesses as addint it never got the attention -- it was buried in a unyielding conglomerate sure after the stock made a killing. it's been up 41% since i

recommended it in january. that's after the stock sold off hard yesterday, down 5% when the company reported what many people thought was a disappointing quarter. i didn't see anything wrong with it this mav the buying opportunity since the one we talked about in august in january, honeywell spun off add van six. to make the nylon six that's used in all types of fibers. at the time i told you it was worth buying but this is a very cyclical business, giving the strength of the company the stock has caught fire. i liked honeywell, the stock has more than doubled. honeywell which has done well up to 23% but the price was -- i didn't want to get behind it because i was worried about the economy.

last year -- as the stock makes special needed gases to manufacturer micro clips since then the stock had fwirch you a terrific gain treasurying the s&p 500. the spinoff didn't work immediately, not every spinoff is considered a win. the carlisle group, a private equity bank in 2012, took it public as ex sul that codings two years later. in the middle of 2015 the stock gave up the bulk of its gain so the sales started to decline the other problem, carlisle, these guys buy the company, they have to get liquid, they have to slow their investors they're making money

constantly but it took until 2014 for their inhaler to get fda approval normally when a drug gets approval for the therapy they spent more than a decade develop lg, it's good news this company couldn't live up to the hype first of all the sales very very weak in the company's latest quarter its companied $1.5 million in sales. doctors don't like to take chances with diabetes patients so they've been sticking with the pattern for insulin. make matters worse, san that fed terminated their partnership with mankind pan kind had to start involving their own sales force to sell the inhaler.
