august and the beginning of september will be super volatile and super interesting. >> because of the foreign policy, trade tensions. >> a lot of stuff will come together not sure it will happen next week, but definitely a couple of weeks, there will be some fireworks. >> always a pleasure on a friday. >> bob pisani, that was fun. >> you have been a joy to work with thank you for inviting me. >> you are highly entertaining, as well. that does it for "closing bell" "fast money" begins right now. >> that's right, "fast money" starts right now, we are live at the nasdaq marketsite overlooking times square and i'm michelle caruso-cabrera, and the traders are steve grasso and don nathan tonight on fast, the development in the crypto universe that is a game changer for bitcoin he'll explain. plus disney earnings are on deck and one trader middle it could add magic to your portfolio. first, though, we'll start with
5:01 pm
the big winners this week. check out some of these names. we talk about apple and tesla all week and pfizer was up 6% and kraft hines up 7% and coarse up 8% and a big week for apple hitting a trillion dollar market cap up 9%. we thought it would be a good time to play trade it or fade it >> i think we understand. >> if you tell us if your trading it, and fading it, aka, selling it >> and we play this gaumme a lo and in this case, fade it is the right thing. fade it doesn't mean necessarily short it, but you had this big run-up and you have insider selling here take some off the table and fade it >> look at that chart, though. for a chart that's done nothing for the last three years, the technical guy in me tell us me this chart is breaking out >> it very well could be, right?
5:02 pm
you've had this massive run up here, why wouldn't you take a little off the table if you're a technical guy, buy it off support >> i think health care has been defensive. so if the market is going to turn around and you're looking for yield and if yields don't rise as fast as we think they're going to i think they'll be in the space. i'll own pfizer forever and i'll continue to trade it how do you own it when the president is complaining that you raised the price of the product. >> it didn't bother it >> don't you think it would be higher otherwise >> you can't prove the counter factual. >> i know. >> i'll tell you what, if i think about the pressure this administration, isn't this the story we heard on every administration on both sides of the aisle? >> i think these names are breaking out and everyone that reported, including amgen and gilead which are names they think have struggled because the balance sheet is very good and there's not much in the top line
5:03 pm
and it started to show improvement in the top line. >> i just wondered one last thing. i just wonder if the fang stocks do continue to come on, if the money comes back out of here because it seemed like a rotation and that would be my only caveat. >> but i like tim's play on the biotech, too i would go smaller tech biotechs, sbi which are the smaller biotechs because who is pfizer going to buyto fill the pipeline some of the you. >>er drugs out there so if you take profits in pfizer then trade the bioteches >> dan, what do you think? >> historically the large biotechs trade very well and we had chris on and he was doing some trading there i know you like it fundamentally. it really does look like it's been basing for years and it looks like it's about ready to break out and when you see the breakout that we saw with eli lilly and it was up after a massive beat i think some of the big-cap cheap biotechs are from here >> steve grasso, what are you doing with this?
5:04 pm
>> it's down 17% year to date and it's popped 19% off the bottoms and it's a campbell's soup, kraft heinz story and that keeps investors on their heels and i think you can still trade it >> i'll tell you what, a lot of these food stocks which have been a function of consolidation and it's been a story for years when the market was very, very cheap and when rates were at almost zero and these guys were trading at multiples and i just don't really like the sector they're not growing the top line and having to rely on kraft to remake itself from a corporate structure perspective, it doesn't get me excited >> trading time, next year's earnings >> we were looking at the stocks and when rates were lower and we're looking at them 22 times and now we're looking at eps growth like mid-single digits and the sales growth trading at a market multiple, 17, 18 times.
5:05 pm
>> and the yield at 4% >> right so we have the ten-year at 3. >> so you'd fade it? >> i think the only bull case right now is the m and a >> tim seymour, coors was up 8%, kind of within the food sector >> the bear stocks two years ago were in a hot trade and there was a lot of consolidation and bud has been consolidated by the brazilians coors like me is a simple man having coors light it's a great beer. i think it was oversold. the key to the earnings release is the fact that the expectation was very low they reaffirmed 2018 guidance. the free cash flow here is very good and one of the problems with these companies is the balance sheet. so four times ebitda, and debt to ebitda four times and i want to see them pay some of that down this number told investors they'll be paying it down. >> you look at something like constellation brands because
5:06 pm
they have a very wide portfolio and look at how the stock has stayed very well i think i would rather spread my bets in this case. >> tap is off 20% off the lows right here, but for me, technically it's running into a little bit of resistance and i give it more time to breathe and let it air out and see if it breaks out of the resistance level. >> sorry. >> speaking of breathing and airing out molson had big news in terms of the sector this week and they'll be making campus-infused beverages and the beer sector is confused about what's going on >> weren't they the first one to do that? >> sam adams is an alliance cons mragz a trains, and molson is having a hard time. >> that's why it's up 7%. >> it may have something to do with it. >> it's the consolation brands and i do anything that is touching candidates, though, that is the threat to all of these alcoholic beverages. so if they can get into that
5:07 pm
that's the growth area if you want to look for that. >> if you can't beat them, buy them >> apple >> whoa, what? what apple. >> big week. >> this is more complicated, right? >> well, i'm just saying, let's go to the big guns the stock's up 10% in the straight line and it got to the big, round number of 1 trillion. i just want to make a point. this stock had a volatile q1 and it traded in a range and after it reported those earnings on may 1st the stock went up 10% over three days and what did it do for the next few months it consolidated the gains and we had another breakout so to me, i don't think it's a sell, sell, sell or anything like that. i think there is a good chance you will see the stock consolidate and the first week of september they'll announce iphones and then at the end of september. >> they're saying fade it. >> there is a very good chance you will see the stock
5:08 pm
consolidate. i don't think you have to buy it here >>. >> fade it to me it's the exact same trade as pfizer. >> maybe there's good news there and you have the spike straight up and people get super emotional about it, i'd fade it. >> i'm not emotional about this at all and you guys are firing cap guns >> what happened wednesday night after the bell is this company told them that the service revenue is growing and it's not just relying on iphones and the company will continue to give you back 25 billion in dividend improvement and that to me is impressive and i don't think everybody is in the story and i don't think people are waiting and i would trade it and that's how you play the game. >> i think you are the longest out of everybody here and there's one indicator they think you know well and that's the media hype indicator when the media is going crazy about it, i get nervous. >> that's a trillion dollar
5:09 pm
market cap it's definitely a little frightful. >> apple has been consolidating for the last couple of months and this breakout has more momentum to it >> i do believe that i would trade it >> yes, nice >> does anybody believe when you hear jim cramer talk about this should get the multiple of a clorox which would put the thing at $300 instead of $200 because he sees it as a consumer product company. >> cramer said something the other day on on scott's show on halftime you can play this game with us. >> he'd probably do better than you. >> he intimated that if you have massive gains you may want to fade some of them. >> i don't get that, and this has nothing to do with the stock. if you think you've been bullish on the stock and you want to own it, you're basically getting long and we say this all of the time, by going long the position
5:10 pm
you might as well be buying the stock. has something suddenly changed i think the story's gotten better i'm not fading. >> all right coming up, earnings season continues next week and the chart master says disney is looking magical heading into its report he'll tell you what's got him so excited. >> plus check out this stock it is surging since the ipo in march and traders are still piling into the name it's a mystery chart and we'll sll you what it is and why it iso popular with traders and there's much more fast money right after this break we all want to know about the new thing.

5:14 pm
and it's aiming to become the infrastructure to help institutionalize in a large scale. it's backed by the likes of boston consulting groups and starbucks. bakkt could be used to convert bitcoin into u.s. dollars which could be used at starbucks stores which, yes, you can buy your coffee or in my case, iced coffee with crypto they create the global ecosystem for digital asset ands some finance names in the world are backing the venture including fortress, panterra capital and susquehanna. it is expected to launch in september. let the countdown begin michelle >> brian kelly says this is, quote, the biggest news of the year and he's live to explain. >> this is huge news
5:15 pm
let's talk about why this is the biggest news of the year for bitcoin. right here, it paves the way for an etf last week i stood up here and said you know what i don't think the etf was going to be approved and guess what? winklevoss got rejected. there wasn't u.s.-regulated exchange and there wasn't a u.s.-regulated custody and they'll now have a u.s.-regulated exchange and they have a licensed warehouse which is how commodities are stored and that's going to make it a lot easier for an etf to come through. it's even better than bitdo coi futures and a lot of people use it for hedging, but they're talking about getting this into your 401(k). they're talking about fidelity or td ameritrade account and you'll buy a bitcoin etf and a bitcoin mutual fund and it expands the universe my conclusion is the crypto market is completely missing this perhaps the market in general is missing this
5:16 pm
this is very, very big news. so let's take a look at the charts and see where we are on bitcoin. we've had this huge, painful, bear market and look at this, though, we've had a little pop here the problem, that was the move on the anticipation of an etf which didn't happen and now we've retraced so if you're looking for an entry point in bitcoin this might just be the place. now, one more, tim, you've got to hold on there, buddy. >> i'm excited. >> look at this! what's going on here this is a theer this yum classi? because bitcoin just announced that they're likely to have trading and adding to their platform august 7th or later and they're doing the final testing right now and they anticipate having it there and that's the coin base right there. now, tim, i can take your question. >> i am told this is the biggest bitcoin news of the year and without getting too in the weeds of how technically they've put together here, do you believe that this is about to happen
5:17 pm
>> oh, yeah. absolutely they're talking about launching in november. so they have been working on this in stealth mode for the last 14 months they've already talked to regulators they're ready to go. i mean, for them to launch a full-scale regulated exchange by november they have to be working on this. >> why didn't bitcoin pop more, do you think you know, like back in jannian this would have been thousands of dollars worth. >> it was up 20% on this news. so i think the bear market has just broken people's spirit. and when the news came out at 8:30, people hadn't seen it until 2:00, 3:00 in the afternoon and people were digesting this and most of bitcoin trading happens in asia and it was released at 10:00 on a friday night in asia and when asia wakes up you might see this thing. >> i have the cash out, right? so i have cash on it and i have
5:18 pm
bitcoin on it and i can go and pay anybody in cash or bitcoin i just don't understand why this is that important? i can go into a starbucks and convert my crypto into fiat dollars and buy my frappucchino. >> or soy latte. >> the other part of this is starbucks will allow you to take your crypto and effectively load a u.s. dollar card with this we don't have a problem with our payment system in the u.s. as you said, you can take your cash out and go in there it's not a problem this is more of a move forward and if you look at starbucks history, so to have them involved is more of a signal that this is becoming more of a mainstream now if you go globally, they're talking about bitcoin as a global currency which is what i believe it could be and you look at globally, people are going to start using bitcoin. people will use bitcoin to buy their coffee if their currency will not move there. >> is it going to move the needle for ice
5:19 pm
do you think it will move the needle incrementally at the start? ice has lagged just a bit in the space? do you think this could have domino effects through the whole entire business if this really starts to take off >> yes, i do think it will my view in general is that most of the stuff that are traded on exchanges today will be block chain-based tokens in three to five years and so ice is ahead of the curve on that. >> all right bk, you made your hayes. >> he's fired up >> snap, crackle, drop the one celeb media stock is down from its highs and one trader says it's about to get a lot worse. he will explain. in the meantime, here's what cells coming ♪ ♪ one chinese internet stock is on fire, and some traders see more gains to come we'll give you the name. plus how would you like to turn time into money? ♪ >> it ain't no fairytale, but it
