i take that phone and wipe it on my desk, and then i spread the germs to my dress. not super smart. >> if they're your germs, own them >> i think it makes your immune system stronger over time, right? >> we're going to find out courtney, thank you very much. >> thanks, brian let's get you back up to speed. we are seeing futures down right now. about 100 points joining us now is the director of global macroat fidelity investments. welcome. what do you want to hear what's the best case snako for the market from jerome powell today? >> i think we're already getting it the fed has pivoted. now even the balance sheet looks like it's going to go away maybe the balance sheet runoff ends at the end of the year, and now there's talk about the new sort of price level targeting or some variation of that where they're going to low inflation

to overshoot above 2% for as long as needed to compensate for the persistent undershoot we've seen i don't think there's anything new coming out today that would be a surprise to the markets >> yeah. you have three reasons why the market's narrative it is about to improve the federal reserve is one of those. what are the other two >> one of them is china. china -- you know, eve been waiting for months and months for the chinese reflags to happen because every two years january showed a record increase in agregate financing. even though there's a seasonal element to it, it's still a really big number, 4.6 trillion yuan maybe we're finally getting that pumping up of the chinese

econo economy. >> it's a bottom to match the v-shaped obama to match since december, and it's still early days, but it looks like maybe the erkz is starting to stabilize, and that means maybe in 2019 we'll get, you know, 5% earnings growth and then the hope is that we go back to 11. all of this is to say that the narrative, i think, is improving, and the -- it certainly explains why we've recovered about 75% of the dough cline from december. >> yeah. given that you believe that the market's snapback in january, then, is justified and is it fair given earnings expectations >> yeah. well, first of all, the 20%

decline should never have been a 20% decline. it should have been maybe 10% to 15%. there were circumstances, you know, a lack of liquidity, liquidation of krouted sort of momentum trades, so the fact that we have recovered a lot i think is in part due to the sentiment extreme, and, by the way, the sent meant extreme continues. in december investors were selling stocks at a rate of $89 billion a yoer, and you would think after an 18% rebound, that auto would have diminished they're now selling at a rate of $113 billion a year. people still hate this rally i think everyone is looking down the road and looking for the other shoe to fall, looking for that recession in 2020, and there are really no signs of it. i'm not surprised by the rebound. you know, whether we can continue on our track is a whole other story. i think the market at these levels makes sense here. >> always a pleasure to get your views and insight.
