let's talk with ceo of cic wealth ryan, good to have you back on again. i want to start with a big name that has been a big problem but may have some big numbers coming out today. and this may be the most important stock in the market and i say that because, a, they are a massive bank and b, t largest mortgage holder and the as to being has lost half its value this year. but are you finally seeing value in owning wfc shares >> yes, absolutely we've owned it for a while, but a long term holding of wells fargo for years. luckily we purchased it probably down around these levels many years ago and unfortunately wrote it back down but yeah, absolutely i think today it will be important to see their earnings and see what the loan loss reserves end up being. i think that will be something that most investors will be

watching you know, they are in a turnaround situation they have a new mew ceo and the have shaken up things getting their house in order and i'm very hopeful over the next coming year or two that we'll see great things from wells fargo. >> yeah, the idea is supposed to be that you buy low and you sell high, of course you buy high and sell higher. that stock has had half its value wiped out. investors have ignored it. you've owned it, i like the honesty, have you been buying on the way down >> we have started picking up some additional shares for clients just to try to dollar cost average for those who maybe purchased it a little higher being careful with it, because there is still a lot of uncertainty with the coronavirus. unfortunately, it might be dead money for a little while, but i think if you have patience, the

dividends is nice. and over a few years, if let's say the stock were to get back up to the 50s, it would be a really good return over a few years so that is why we're patient. >> that would be a double basically. we appreciate the positive don't hear too much. now, a smaller cap name, we're all working from home, right and i would venture to guess that many of our viewers or listener, if they took a look at their desk, their home office setup, a lot of the stuff they have got is made by the same company, logitech. >> yeah, really interested in this name. they have had a nice run but as you point out, i think this is a trend that is just not going to change. and i'm a big fan of finding a secular trend and throwing myself in front of it as much as i can. and i feel like, you know, this is one of these companies that will be, you know, it will be around for a while in terms

cafe coffee brewery in tampa, florida. named a top coffee shop in america last year. and we're joined now by its co-owner, tim, good to chat with you again. we talked to you in the midst of the lockdown how have things changed from, say, may or june until now what have you figured out and where do you see it going? >> thanks for having me on again. it is good to be here. yeah, the pandemic really was a curve ball for all of us small business owners, especially in the service industry with king state, the summer was very twril arial and error and n idea of trying to figure out how we will navigate this solely on our own. because the government, other businesses, everyone kind of was spinning trying to figure out what is going on, our governor as well as our mayor, everyone wasn't on any real page. so we kind of went our own path,

we obviously had to abide by all the laws and yeah, from june, july to now september and even into october and even august, it is a completely different world. we activated a few different things we stayed in the to-go model, now open at 50% capacity even though our governor said we could open up at 100% and we're still seeing a 15% to 20% growth from last year so it has been cool to kind of see, you know, safety protocols as well as putting out quality products and gooder is advice all merging. and all of our regulars and guests have been supportive. and unfortunately, that is not the case for a lot of people so we're grateful >> and there are members of the population that will not go inside and i don't blame them, everybody has their own level of comfort. i've eaten inside in new jersey a number of times.

are people unwilling to go inside sounds like you're not seeing that >> i think the spectrum is so wide we have people think that this is insane, you have people think that if you go outside you are risking life and death but the good thing about king state, we still have to go, we have onnline ordering and we hav a full patio so i think that we hit all the boxes. and so far, weekends have been jamming and everything throughout the week has been really solid and stable. and the first few weeks we thought it was that everything is open again, everyone is pretty excited and that was back in august. so it is really exciting >> i wonder, and i won't lie to you, i've talked to my own family, that if winter comes and new jersey goes back on full lockdo lockdown, tampa is not sounding too bad. i don't know if tom brady has been in there, but my guess is that you have seen a lot of

migration, people in this area who know that come january when it is 30 degrees and snowing here and maybe we go reblockd n do lockdown, florida could be a good play because it is 65 and you can be outside >> you're not wrong. we're seeing that in droves. our residential real estate market is exploding still and it never really stopped so i think that you are dead on there. there is a lot of first timers, there is a lot of regulars and the spectrum runs the gamut. people still go i just heard about you, this is my first time in on it is really interesting to see. things still building even in a pandemic >> i tell you what, i will get down there if it keeps cool and locks down here again, we'll come into king state keep us informed of how you are doing. rooting for you guys

what is going to move the markets today? money was all the options related move, the gamma that we talked about wasn't anything but today it could be this, a big day for bank earnings. bank of america, wells fargo, pnc, u.s. bancorp, goldman sachs out with earnings. now, earlier we asked you a separate question. can you name the best performing s&p 500 stock this month can you? look at that chart it is a mask play. it is etsy up 25% in october and 245% this year if you like random stocks like that, your rbi later will have one stock that goldman sachs says meets tough growth criteria but is still down year to date.

have the best performance out of allel t the models and pro max with better cameras, i don't think that you can discount the better features but that a nice add-on >> and you've got these phones now, i guess -- you said the average selling price, and i think what some are concerned about a bit is those margins it is not about sales or revenue, it is about gross margins. is apple smart to sort of lure people to buying lower cost phones >> it is reld differenatively sg they are trending up you think a few years ago, phones are still more expensive. you have storage upgrades as well you also have the premium tier with the pro within thing th one thing, they have taken out the charging block and ear phones that should help

those should be incremental pieces that should help out with the margin prices and shipping costs as well. >> yeah, and you think about the idea of maybe even -- maybe you are right, not a lower cost phone, but 700 bucks ain't low price by the way, but you know what i'm saying. get people into that apple ecosystem. and if all of our viewers today that use apple products go on to their computer, itunes account, look at their subscriptions, they will probably realize they are paying apple $25 to $50 a month in recurring revenue if new, music, music match and not even realizing it. getting people into that mhalo i the whole deal >> yeah, cash flows are pretty highly recurring

you think about it as a lumpy annuity where you are having that $700, $800 outlay every two to four years. but services, yes, they are coming out with the apple one bundle coming soon, $30 a month. pretty easy to justify you get a wider suite of services and we did a deep dive on the fitness opportunity which we think could potentially be a $3 billion revenue opportunity by 2023 but then again, that is kind of the prime feature, if you have fitness, clouds storage, what is another $5, $10 a month to get the music, news and arrest kad arcade as well and the valuation is tough around this name, but our positive viewpoint is really built around the fact that we're right at the front of this super cycle, we're very bullish on 5g, we think that it will be a multiyear cycle. this is not a one and done

yes, it is a name that we want to be a part of. it can grow into earnings, has a lot of buyback power so if you look at it the next several years, if you get new product innovations, i think it is a name to be in >> all right will be bert, we appreciate you joining us and on deck, amazon's prime day appearing to get an impressive start what its performance can signal for the retail sector ahead of the holidays and as we head to break, some of your other top stories staying with amazon, thousands of employees have signed an internal petition calling for the company to give its entire workforce paid time off to vote. other american companies like facebook, apple, twitter and walmart have already agreed to give employees time off. work from home forever workers at drop box won't be going back to the office anytime soon the company announcing that it will stop asking workers to come

. prime day rolls on and apparently everybody will just buy everything online. but let's not make it a commercial for amazon. other retailers, walmart, target and more counters with their own sales and maybe even lower prices so what does this mean for the sector joined by charlie o'shayed a moody's. i look at my local mall and half the stores are e and you have bankruptcies galore in retail and debt looking worse for many companies is it looking like we'll have five large national retailers and nobody else. >> i think that is a pretty dire prediction i think there is a lot of strength out there in retail there are pockets of strength.

but the basic premise is not that far off, you have strong guys going into the pandemic and the pandemic certainly illuminated that where you have amazon, walmart, target, costco, best buy, and i'll show bj's into the mix and you have seen home improvement doing well the off price stores doing well once reopened. so there are pockets out there, but it is clearly a case of the haves and have nots. and that has been going on for a while. >> yeah, certainly it is hard for smaller retail shops to compete with these beat 'em offs amazon quietly continues to issue more debt as well. another $10 billion offering the company has grown generally through equity, but now they are getting more and are more active in the debt market what do you think is going on with amazon.com and why are they

issuing so much debt >> they need to issue debt, they need to finance growth and debt for them is relatively cheap. much cheaper than equity at this point. and i think what the company is doing is they are growing into the debt and we saw that with q2 we didn't expect to be nearly as strong as it was you're seeing the company borrowing. back in 2017, the balance sheet almost doubled from a debt perspective. and they have been doing it. and there is a lag between when the debt is issued and when earnings are generated but that delay hasn't really bothered us all that much. the challenge for amazon going forward is where do we want our credit rating to be. >> charlie, do they care

amazon has never cared about any metric by any means. they never cared about profit ability or gross margin. it is growth, growth, growth is that fair statement >> in the past, i think that has been accurate. they have been more shareholder friendly in the past but recently i'd say over the last few years, as you have seen the rating progress upwards, that is recognition of the strength of the company's overall credit profile so they have been managing to a certain level of credit metrics that we're comfortable with. when you look at where they are today, there is an awful lot of debt capacity at this current rating and the only thing that amazon has to worry about from our perspective at this point is do we want the rating to go higher, if they do, then they will measure the debt a little bit more carefully if they are comfortable where they are, then they can raise $35 billion, 40 billion without much of an issue

wondering if there is any value left out there i don't know, it is not my job to recommend stock, but goldman sachs had a really interesting report the other day they highlighted s&p 500 stocks that have 10 or more percent sales growth and at least half a percent of margin expansion this quarter. i went down the list and i noticed something that there is only one stock in the s&p 500 they highlighted with more than 50% sales growth, margin expansion and whose shares are lower this year. can you guess? i certainly couldn't it is bristol-myers squibb that's right they have had good numbers, but the shares are down 3% this year the average analyst target price, $12 above where the stock is right now just has not gotten any traction this is certainly not a recommendation on bmy, but when there is one stock out there in

the s&p 500 that meets some data points, and the shares are down, and goldman highlights them in the list, that is random but interesting. you go, bmy. back new to eaow to earnings bank of america, wells fargo, goldman sachs and pnc and u.s. bancorp all on tap after a rough start to the season. wrote off less than people thought, but investors completely ignoring the names and joining us is chris whalen the banks put out good number, they write down less than people thought and all they do is sell off 5% why? >> are tare two reasons. weak revenue and i think investors realize

that they will take a little pause. in the background is an issue that is very important, that all of the forbearance that congress so jgenerously as provided to consumers and businesses is not showing up in bank loss numbers. so until that is over, we don't really know what it looks like in terms of future loss. probably why the banks were able to pause putting aside more reserves this quarter. it is a presentation issue >> you know, i've called wells fargo maybe the most important stock in the country for good reason biggest retail bank, they own the most mortgages, stocks lost half its value, fired management what are you expecting, have they turned it around at all >> well, they keep making money despite themselves wells used to be probably the best performer in the top four in terms of dollar earnings per

dollars of assets. and as you pointed out, a slot of self inflicted wounds i think that it will be years before they get out of the penalty box because they have to demonstrate to the fed that they have effective systems and controls and that their board is focused. they did not do these things effectively over the last couple years. so it is in their hands. the bank has enormous value, but trarding at a discount today because of the big question mark to me of the top five -- i own u.s. bank and a lot of bank prefers right now, but wells has the most potential for change. but i can't tell you when it will happen. >> but you think the company has righted the ship from a very macro -- may take years to get back to where they were, but do you feel like the super tanker known as wells fargo has finally made the smart turn? >> i think so. i mean, it would be astounding

if the answer is no. this is a large public company and you would think that the officers and directors realize the seriousness of the situation. so, yes, i think that there is potential here it is a great bank this is a bank that historically has delivered. and really had very few issues you never heard about them other than earnings. so to me, this is one story in the top five that is worth spending time on >> and i did a cnbc pro event last week. and basically ways recommendedat don't get nearly enough love but pnc is positioned if they want to to take more of wall

you like >> thanks for having me on again. appreciate you giving me the opportunity. it is a fantastic company. it is the leading company for faux wood. faux wood is gaining over natural wood because it is cheaper. you don't have to treat it you have beed out at this moment lumber prices are up dramatically since the end of march. and so that plays into the story as well. >> and i guess when you're out on your fake wood deck, you will drink some sam adams with boston beer being cooled in your $300 yeti cooler. i'm noticing a trend on some of grour t your top picks here. >> yes, people are very much into outdoor experiences these days there was a lot of spin that was going on in travel and leisure that is now pivoting toward experiences near the home. so camping, fishing, hiking,
